Location: Great Kills Park I/A/O Sewage Treatment Plant

Description Of Incident: Large area of brush, southwest end of the Park.

1704hrs- B-23 rpts 10-75 for large area of brush.

1707hrs- B-23 Using All-Hands. Req. (1) BFU to respond down dirt road to the rear of the plant.

All-Hands: E-162, 165, 164, 154; L-82, L-85, L-84 FAST; BFU 1, BFU 4, B-23, B-21 (10-75).

1710hrs- B-23 S/C Engine and Truck (E-161/L-81). S.I. companies responding to numerous calls for smoke in the area of the brush fire. (2) BFU's (1 and 4) assigned to box. L-84 FAST.

1717hrs- B-23 transmitting 2nd Alarm. All 2nd Alarm units to respond in to the area of the sewage treatment plant on Mill Road.

2nd Alarm: E-152/S-5, 167, 151, 153, 159; L-87, B-42 (Safety), B-40 (CommCord), Rescue B/C, Safety B/C, Field Comm.

1721hrs- B-42 is Safety, B-40 Comm. Cord. E-152 has the Satellite. Returning R-5.

1726hrs- Calls from Delwit Pl. rpt fire is close to homes.

1734hrs- Caller rpts (7) children near a dock at rear of DEP Plant - 10 Cedar Grove Ave X Waterside St. trapped by the fire.

1735hrs- Div. req. Engine, Truck, B/C (43 Acting 21) to respond to Cedar Grove Ave. R-5 and Sq-1 also responding. Box is 2243.

1748hrs- Sq-1 on scene rpts no one in danger on pier.

1750hrs- Div. 8 rpts large area of brush appox. 1/2 mile wide. Duration 51 minutes. D/W/H.

1755hrs- Div. 8 transmitting 3rd Alarm.

3rd Alarm: E-160, 168, 157, 158; L-86, 76; TAC 2; B-57 Acting 42, B-43 (Staging)

1757hrs- Numerous NYPD units evacuating homes in area of Brook Ave. Buffalo St. X The Park is the staging area for 3rd Alarm.

1800hrs- E-246 Acting 165 reports civilians flagging unit down reporting fire is at the rear of houses on Chester Ave. Calls also coming in for Brook Ave.

1803hrs- NYPD Aviation 18, rpts over SI freq., landing Great Kills Parking Lot and req. a B/C for Air Recon and assist with bambi bucket drops. All available NYPD Aviation units on scene.

1805hrs- NYPD Aviation in process of deploying bambi buckets but will not deploy water until they have contact with FD units on ground.

1807hrs- Numerous calls for 72 Brook Ave and Brook X Hylan, fire threatening houses. Civilians reported to be using garden hoses.

1812hrs- E-160 redirected to Brook Ave. B-58 responding to Aviation 18.

1813hrs- E-282 Urgent for units on Brook Ave X Medina for fire extending to houses-"gonna need more than an engine."

1818hrs- NYPD Aviation 18 has a B/C on board and will be directing water drops.

1820hrs- B-43 rpts all 3rd Alarm units have been assigned to areas and that no units are in staging.

1822hrs- E-158 rpts stretching lines with E-282 on Grayson Ave and reporting exposure problems.

1836hrs- Staten Island in Fall Back Step 3. NYPD Level 1 Mobilization.

1840hrs- Car 4H on scene, transmitting 4th Alarm. All 4th Alarm units to report to staging area Hylan Blvd X Buffalo St.

4th Alarm:E-247, 330 (Acting 161), 163, 220 (Acting 160); L-166 (Acting 82), 149 (Acting 87)

1850hrs- TL-79 new FAST.

1912hrs- Car 4 rpts fire slowly extending toward Hylan Blvd. and toward the water. NYPD still operating water drops. Units being deployed/re-deployed as necessary. D/W/H. Duration is 2 hours 13 minutes.

1916hrs- E-241 acting 162 rpts fire at the end of Fox Lane and will be going to work.

1922hrs- Sq-1 and TAC 2 taking up.

1928hrs- Car 4 transmitting 5th Alarm, req. a 5th Alarm Assignment of (4) Engines, (2) Trucks and (1) B/C. All units to report into staging.

3rd Alarm: E-239 (Acting 154), E-245 (Acting 165), 318 (Acting 164), 279 (Acting 163); L-101 (Acting 82), L-131 (Acting 85); B-31 (Acting 21)
