  1. I'm still trying to understand the color codes for new posts and hot topics and the like. But overall, looks like a great update.
  2. Tow Trucks have 500 series numbers, right? i.e "New York to 505"
  3. Nassau and Suffolk put everyone through their own academies, correct? Even NYPD or State Troopers?
  4. Is there really a big difference between 6 & 7?
  5. It's very nice. It's what's wrong with liberal America. People forget that the Second made the rest. (STAT, I'm sure you know what that means.)
  6. Just for the sake of arguement and comparison, about 29,300 signed up for the Suffolk County PD exam, which was held this past Saturday at 50 different high schools across the County. SCPD hires about 100 per year.
  7. However, they are empowered to handle any criminal matters that they may come across while performing their duties.
  8. As soon as I'm done burning the American flag, I'll watch the new "documentary" by Michael Moore while singing the Venezuelan national anthem. As someone else already said, if we the people need to know all this stuff, then let Al Gore and Michael Moore pay for the production costs themselves.
  9. I hope they lost alot on this. Who was the person who ever thought that Free FM 24hrs a day was a good idea? Even they realized after a while that it was bad and they went to music on weekends and basketball/hockey. Thank God K-Rock is back.
  10. Nassau County Highway Patrol does not patrol the Southern State or the Northern State Parkways. All parkways with "State" in the name are patrolled by Troop L of the State Police.
  11. I always thought it was a California thing to see the unit. If you want to argue about the model and the officer's qualification on such, get a Supporting Deposition and go to Court. Is there any truth to it that cops don't like when the motorist requests a Supporting Deposition?
  12. Thank the Justice Dept for breaking up Ma Bell in 1984.
  13. I hate hearing stuff like this...scares me. It's why I hate to fly.
  14. dear God...wait for the utility!!! S A F E T Y
  15. It is a street flusher. You see them alot after parades and the like. I've seen them on the West Side parked along one of the garages on 12 Ave with the blade on. And the other one could very well be a litter control vehicle. The lettering on the side says "Q.S.L.C." which could stand for Queens South Litter Control. They have such a great fleet.
  16. Suffolk County has split the county into 10 divisons, one for each town (except for Brookhaven, which is 5 and 5a). That's the first number. The second number is the department, and the third is the apparatus number. I'm not sure if there is an order to the third number.
  17. who cares what color they are if they enhance SAFETY!
  18. I saw that bus today on the CCP at an MVA. Nice rig. And I saw the supervisor's truck out over the weekend, also on the CCP.
  19. This is probably a stupid question, but why not go with the colored lenses, instead of clear?
  20. The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for each county in NYS, and by statute has to take action whenever there is a breach of the peace observed. Even in NYC. In Westchester County, the DPS Commissioner is also the Sheriff.
  21. Suffolk County Sheriff's Office uses them out in the East End, usually somewhere near the jail on 51. They've been pretty sucessful with it too, from what I hear.
  22. The Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 was and is the greatest police car ever made.
