  1. 2. Yes WCPD Marine has Side Scan Sonar. At the scene of a major incidents with fellow port partners certain tasks are assigned to certain units. WCPD Marine has members assigned 365 days a year. They are supplemted by members of ESU.
  3. Please explain. Any EMS agency that is treating a patient involved in any type of hazardous situation should be provided with the proper PPE.
  4. The way the article reads it would be Putnam Sheriff. It works in LI where there are both Nassau and Suffolk PD and Sheriff's. Granted the (LI) Sheriff's primarily are responsible for jail.
  5. Where was the DES METU? Why have a METU respond from Yonkers when there is one literally up the street?
  6. Why would Westchester County be responsible for providing MDT'S to individual departments? If a department requires an MDT, and the associated data plan, they should purchase one.
  7. Neither one is a MERV. They are both METU's (Medical Evacuation Transport Unit) The same UASI grant was used to purchase both.
  8. Its actually the other way around. NYS mandates Counties to maintain a Sheriff's Office which Westchester does through the Police Department. Cities are also required to maintain Police. Town's and Villages are not.
  9. The county hires OT to cover mandatory backfill posts ie. vacation, sick time, etc... to not leave sectors open, sort of what the NYSP should do. The village is proposing to fill two sectors on straight OT on every tour.
  10. The following link is to the WCPD PBA's response to the decision www.pbawcpd.org The following is a link to the Town of Ossining and the questions raised of the village's proposal http://www.townofossining.com/j25/news/375-press-release-regarding-provision-of-police-services-now-available-online There are some very valid points raised and it will be interesting to see if the Village is able to meet them.
  11. Why does it not surprise me that you always have something negative to say about the Westchester County PD. As was previously indicated by Bababoosky the truck will be utilized as an ESU/Haz-Mat response and will not be used on routine patrol. For a fellow "union" brother it is shocking that you continuously bash WCPD's operating procedures. I guess if I came from a career department such as yours, I too would be envious!
  12. Greenburgh PD, NYPD, Nassau and Suffolk County PD's.
  13. People who live in a glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
  14. Oh Dinosaur it was almost not worth a response. You seem to have a problem with bashing anything WCPD Marine does. Is it envy? Since you have so much knowledge of the day to day operations, could you please tell me how there are no cops for much of the year? Also, how would you better utilize the alleged, by you, squandered grant money?
