SVB was one of the best chiefs we ever had. Great fire commander, teacher. A no nonsene ,straight to the point kind of person. AND he cared about his men.
-
Combination Dept. Like Peekskill and Middletown. And reducing staff is not true.
-
For expressing my opinions towards the member rating system, I recieved a Negative point!!!! All that did was reinfore why I'm against the member ratings.
-
I don't think people are trying to stir the pot, just offering their opinoins.
-
Do away with the concept of positive and or negative ratings. Serves no purpose.

City of Newburgh gets worse each year. Its a poor run down city that looks like the Bronx did in the 70's and 80's. PD and FD are very under staffed . One positive thing is Pete's Hot Dog's on So.Williams St.

1. Crews that staff the Town of Wappinger Ambulances do not 'technically' work for the town. They work for Transcare. 2. The Town Ambulances are Transcares. Not owned or maintained by the Town of Wappinger. They are just dedicated units for the town with the towns name on it. 3. In the past , a Wappinger Ambulance has gone into the City of Poughkeepsie under mutual aid.

How much money is the City of Poughkeepsie contract?
-
The decision to relocate PV to Beacon came from combined input from Beacon, Dutchess 911,and County Coordinators.
-
Did you not understand that Southern Dutchess County was getting hammered during the storm? There was a thought process that included officials from Beacon, and Dutchess County 911. It worked well!

Majority of the hydrants were inaccessible for the first few days. Any fire during that time would have been a major problem. Its a typical congested city with buildings and houses built close to each other.
-
Pleasent Valley was in the City of Beacon due to the fact that Hydrants were inaccessible. The surrounding Dept's in the Town's of Fishkill, and Wappingers were basically in the same situation.

The initial post was about response times, but I don't think anyone has actually offered any useful solutions to the issue. Instead of talking about this topic to death, why not offer up some ways to address response times and fix it.
-
Before you go out and spend money on a helmet, make sure you get approval from a Chief officer to wear it.
-
I agree with Fireguy43,well said. It's ok to ask questions, but make sure you get the correct answers from someone who was involved in the incident. Don't guess, or speculate. Go ask a Chief, or an officer from that Dept.
-
Don't really care what it says on the ambulance or what they should be called . I could care less if its a paid service or volunteer service. The more important issue is the response times, and the ability to cover 2nd, and 3rd calls. Everything else is trivial .
-
What is the need for this "Member Reputation System" ? This will prove nothing.
-
Its a persons opinion on what is a good or bad post, its just being subjective. This system will not really prove anything. This is not Ebay with the top rated seller point system.

It's not definite that Sta 1 is closing. Nothing is final.
-
As a Beacon F.F , the thought of refusing to respond to a call would never enter my mind. Anyone that has suggested that or is thinking that, is Wrong. That is not the way to get things done. It hasn't even been talked about. The city was looking into closing Sta.1 back in the early 90's . The Volunteers, and the Career staff as One, formed a picket line on a cold night in opposition .

Sorry, but I really don't think Kid's should be learning Police/Swat tactics. Most kid's today can't even start a lawn mower, change oil in a car, or even know Basic American History. So before they put on tactical gear, get a plastic gun, and storm into a building, maybe step back and really think this is out. Maybe even talking to some Police Officers, or Military people who have been shot/injured, or have had to shoot somebody, and explain this is no joke. No intentions on insulting any of these young people who are explorers. Just dont think its the BEST thing they should be learning right now.

You get what you pay for though. It's going to be really interesting seeing if BVAC will be able to deliver there promise. Its politics as usual. Save money , and hope nobody suffers.
