Most Defib units in school have an alarm w/ it when opened. School's have procedures and a team that will respond if AED iis needed. Defib in schools has become a state mandate

Flyers should be sent out to dept, maybe they will do individual teams.

however fires continue to be put out and no one gets hurt, our job is being done. we are volunteers, we cover calls with what we have. Since we're not a paid dept we don't manpower on hand!

Parades take maybe 30-50 members out of service, how much of that is your active members? How many stay to the end? I know with my dept. not many people stick around till trophies. We prob have more people around to cover a call during a parade then we do during the day when people are working. There are postings on the Chief should stay in town when a parade is going on, and that if a capt or lt can handle a call why do we have 3 chiefs? Who covers calls during the day- I know all 3 of our chiefs have jobs and often a Lt or past chief ends up being the IC. Officers have lives, and if officers have other committments when there is a call you have other officers and past officers to fill in. Fact is you don't have much man power during the day and calls get covered, calls will get covered during parades as well.

Speaking of parades- does anyone know the history of a parade? Why we march so neatly and quietly, why depts carry flowers? A parade history is to honor the deceased fire fighters- we salute the grandstand to salute the deceased members. Parades are not about shinny trucks and uniforms but honoring those who went before us.

March 12th Pasta night to support Explorers' training program- looking to go to Montour Falls. $5 for adults, $3 for children 3-10

Thanks for all your support, our group is very enthusiastic and hard working. They earned going to Montour falls, so off we go in July.

Thank you all who came to the pasta night, and for Putnam 911 for calling in a delievery- that was a 1st. Total income was over $1000 which was what the post needed by June, they have earned enough to take the whole post to Montour Falls.

The Lake Carmel Fire Dept Explorers will be having a Fund Raiser at Applebees in Brewster on Mon, Feb 21st from 4-9pm. The money the explorers raise will be going to training. They are looking to raise $1,000 before June so they can attend the Explorer Weekend in July up in Montour Falls. All we need you to do is eat at Applebee's on the 21st between 4-9 and on your out leave your reciept with one of the explorers. Applebees will give us 10% of all bills at the end. Thank you for your support.

Thank you all that came to Applebee's as of 7:30 they raised approx $471, due to the amount of people that showed up, we had to extend the fundraiser after the allotted time, special thanks to Putnam Coordinators, Carmel FD and Mahopac FD that brought many people. Our next fundraiser is March 12- pasta night A special thanks to Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services sectretaries for helping spread the word

This year's Putnam County Memorial Explorer Weekend will be held Aug 6th and 7th. Information has been mailed out to explorer posts in Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Long Island and FDNY, it is a 1st come 1st serve- cut off is 100 explorers.

Information for Lake Carmel's 4th annual explorer weekend has been sent out, any departments interested that did not get info, please let me know. We are also looking for new ideas in training and competitions, if anyone has any, please let us know

OCT 1996 while in riding w/ ambulance in rockland structure fire of fire fighter, and i believe past chief Al DeFlumere and son's house were killed, overcome by smoke both found at windowsill

Where in NY will you be visiting?

We are fortunate that our ambulance and fire are together, so we drill and respond to calls together. We also follow the same SOG's, for your FD's and Ambulance only people many you need to sit down together and find out what it needed to support eachother at calls so Rehab can be done at the beginning of the call. Maybe have ambulance dispatched at the same time, and have that ambulance bring necessary items for Rehab.
