Interesting concept using the "ghost" lettering. I like it.

With rallies taking center stage I am surprised the protests in Wisconsin have not been post here yet. Public Employee Unions and collective bargaining have been villafied by the Tea Party and their likes to put more blame on the backs of the public servants for the fiscal mismanagement of the legislatures. Around the country they are pointing the fingers are public servant, who have sacrificed for countless years, as the reason budgets are breaking and looking to union bust and create take backs and limit collective bargaining or do away with it all together. No where has any one suggest doing away with food stamps, social services or the other sit on your butt and collect services. See some news coverage at: ABC NEWS

Unfortunately a lot of plans are made based on assumptions and resources are purchased and then the information as to their availability and capability not made available as seen with this thread or hyped well beyond their realistic capabilities as we have seen in other threads. The point of planning is to be able to realistically prepare for an incident in advance but without this information plans are and always will be woefully inadequate.

Dinosaur, I believe these trailers actually are part of the special task force and carry the bags of highly secretive "dehydrated water" that once on scene are added to a water source and sprayed on a fire to extinguish it.

Never understood the use of zip ties even as hand cuff for mass arrests. They do not have a lock on them to prevent over tightening and require them to be cut off which puts the restrained individual and the person removing them in a position of risk during the removal. A triangular bandage when proper applied and knotted posses little risk for further injury and is simple to remove. My understanding was always the PD could place the patient in "protective custody" for restraint in such that they were being protected from themselves.
-
They are part of a special dust collection project that is of a highly classified nature.
-
You just hit the nail on the head COMMUNICATION. It is above a lot of the people response to make those decisions pay grade.
-
Now you did it. WCDES just put out a bid for it and a new build to house it. lol
-
Tanker 10eng since you appear to be part of the county team and apparently in the know, maybe you could shed some light on the equipment that has created all the speculation here, specifically the Scene Support Trailers. What do they contain? What is their intended use aside from dust collection? and Who are they for? are some of the questions asked so far. It seems that the answers are classified and require the use of a secret decoder ring to obtain.
-
The silence by those who know what these trailers contain or don't contain is deafening and in a sense speaks volumes.
-
It is a shame that resources that should be well publicized so agencies know what is available are not but I guess everyone is hitting the nail on the head: These resources are not available. They look pretty, collect dust and even had tons of money spent to build a massive garage and lot to house them.

While we have headed in this direction, I noticed the other day that WCDES has 2 trailers that appeared on a drive by to be apx 14-20 feet long with roof mounted A/C units lettered as "SCENE SUPPORT UNITS". Does anyone have information on what these trailer contain if anything and their intended purpose?
-
That was the reason for my original post asking if WCDES's Field Comm/Mobile Command Unit was requested, dispatched or used on the job. While it was met with responses that equaled "we had a coffee maker already" or "D&D was open" (not pointing fingers, humor is a great thing), my curiosity was that with so many discussions always pointing toward proper ICS and scene safety why was a "tool" not used. Was it overlooked? Was it felt to be a hindrance? Was 60 Control not able to staff and respond? or Was it my sandbox, my tools, I give the orders? Let me finish by saying I am not looking for fights or hurt feelings and have absolutely no stake in the million dollar toy that collects more dust than mileage, I am just interested in the thought process that would not consider a Mobile Command/Field Comm unit an asset on such a large operation. Lets face it the IC did a great job regardless.

Bnechis, I could be wrong but my read on PFDRes47cue's post was if there was CO monitoring for the air quality inside heated enclosed environment or tents not the CO monitoring of firefighters operating on site.

You have to give the bus driver credit, she kept her cool, kept the bus straight, did not swerve or over correct and seemed to maintain control avoiding what could have been a significantly more serious incident.
-
Has the standard now become if you do not get the result you want in criminal court you file a civil rights case? Maybe it's time it got played both ways. Next time some skell gets off on a technicality the DA should just file a Civil Rights Lawsuit against the prep.
-
Chris, only reason I asked was I heard D&D was of no use. Already full of cops.
-
On a side note, with so many units operating on the scene was the WCDES Field Comm requested, dispatched or used for this job?
-
Or snow on the ground. With so many rigs leaving no room for error if all the ice and snow is not removed from the apron near the door it could be the difference between clearing and hitting.
-
Cuyahoga Falls Engine 1 actually clears the door to fit in the bay. Talk about a tight fit.
-
Seth, One suggestion is to put the IA's in title only on the right side bar and list maybe the top 6 or 7 similar to the way you list donations and latest classifieds.
-
I think remount considerations also include the mileage and hours on the vehicle itself. To remount a new box on a 8 or 9 year old vehicle with upwards of 100K on it may not be cost effective in the long run when engine issues and suspension issues creep up.
-
Seth, I agree that the book can probably be very useful but in light of the recent (and past) call to "dumb down" the tests so certain applicant pools can do better I feel that the book title is insensitive and poorly timed. While I am aware it is just another installment to the Books for Dummies series it does not make it any less fuel for a charged environment. On a side note, I myself have found that many of the Dummies series books were very informative and well written

I wonder if handing every applicant a copy of the book when they apply for the exam will satisfy Judge Garaufis and the Vulcan Society?
