My point here is slightly misunderstood, partly on how I wrote the statement. It was meant more as a side observation that the lettering is lost in the chevron not the fact that the lettering would be a safety aspect. Aside from that, chevrons, lights, cones, flares are all assets but lets face it - a distracted driver is a distracted driver. All the chevrons, lights, gadgets, etc are not going to do one bit of good if the driver is not paying attention in the first place. The real key here is safe vehicle placement and learning how to position your vehicle to provide you with the best window of safety. We have all seen the articles highlighting trooper cars hit on the shoulder with lights going, large fire apparatus smashed from behind on a straight stretch of interstate and ambulance crews hit while loading patients. We need to go back to basics and teach how to place your vehicle to control the scene and provide you the space to live. Just my opinion.

Just look at the ambulance pictured. Once the patient doors are opened the chevrons are gone. The door side goes toward rig and the sides are covered by the doors. While the rig is visible the lettering no longer is. The real question should be chevrons at what price?

See if this helps.

Done by a group of Peekskill HS Juniors this class assignment strikes a much needed message. Hopefully it will grow legs.

Hard to believe the treatment was as simple as "burp and fart the air out". You would think that there would be some deep seated complications from that much 3rd spaced air between subcutaneous tissue and muscle at that much pressure in addition to the risk of air embolisms system wide.

M Ave very perceptive. I viewed it in full screen mode and you can actually see the drivers side front tire jolt to the passenger side right before the wheels retract up into the wells and the vehicle bottoms. Almost looks like a major failure of the front suspension when you view it focusing on just the front wheels. Also if you slow it down you notice that the loud noise is actually right before the vehicle bottoms even with the tire jolt not a result of the vehicle bottoming. Very interesting turn of events.
-
And they meant to bottom out just to see how it was handled right.
-
Interesting to see the reaction of the three officers on the drivers side of the limo as it bottoms. They do a sort of scamper backward. I will bet they are looking into getting a lift kit for the car already.

Another big issue with school taxes is that everyone from homeowners to section 8 apartment dwellers are allowed to vote. While homeowners may vote for a more fiscally sound budget with a lower tax rate increase an apartment dweller will vote "yes" since they are not effected by the increases. It would be if different ballgame if only those who actually pay the taxes got to vote yes or no on the budget and increase. Look at places like Bronxville and Scaresdale where there is a low burden of non-taxpayers voting, they are more careful putting forth a large budget and increase.

Interesting concept of putting the arrow sticks on the side. I would assume the vehicle would park sideways on roads to block the traffic lane.

The NYS Tax Cap Legislation relates to school district and their blank check mentality. "The New York State Senate today passed property tax relief legislation (S.2706) that would place a cap on the growth of school property taxes at two percent or the Consumer Price Index (CPI), whichever is less. If enacted, New York would become the 44th state to cap local property taxes. In addition, the Senate approved two measures related to providing mandate relief to school districts and local governments." (http://www.nysenate.gov/press-release/senate-passes-property-tax-cap-legislation). I agree 110% with the Tax Cap legislation as school district have always put forth growing budgets for votes and include a vailed threat to the community "If the budget fails we will institute an austerity budget" in effect saying "vote the budget down and your kids will suffer as we will remove extra activities including but not limited to sports and after school activities". The austerity budget by law can be an increase equal to the CPI or 4%, which ever is lower and taxes can still rise. Never do school district attempt to do more with less or even the same. They do this while many of their Superintendents make more than the Governor and have golden parachute clauses in their contracts. It is about time someone said enough and put measures in place that will demand fiscal management and a look at cut that do not effect students. Lets face it, we have school with 3 or 4 vice principals, district offices where the secretaries have secretaries and many are administratively top heavy. Are pension costs a burden, without a doubt but to jump all over those who have the pensions is not fair either. Two sides agreed on those contracts and now one is having "buyer's remorse". Just my opinion.

The web address says it all. Aside from that , is it not illegal to go "dumpster diving for documents" outside a police precinct. Also, I am surprised that the website is still up and running. You would think the site would be down and someone would be getting a virtual colonoscopy for posting it.

Interesting station set up. Found more photos of it on their website The fire pole was replaced with a "water park" style slide.

Was that garage converted into living space or were the doors knocked out?

Let me guess, they didn't have a fire extinguisher to fight the fire.

Only problem is Paddy Brown, Ray Downey and their friends all went north while the snake is certain to head south to the furnace with his virgins.

Anyone who has Sprint has probably gotten a message by now. This evening I received a text message from 4info.net,, short code 44636, the provider of various text base messages including but not limited to the Weather Channel weather alerts, LoHud breaking news, etc., that they will no longer be sending messages because Sprint is now charging to send them to their customers. Sprint claims they provide customers with certain plans such as mine, unlimited text messaging for which a price is paid. In turn they have decided to choose who these messages can come from and charge some for sending them. Are IPages next? What about NYAlerts? In short this is double dipping. Customers are not being charged by 4Info for the message but 4Info is being charge to send it after the customers have already been charged to receive it from the same carrier. They have decided for you what you get and don't get. What is next, "Aunt Bessie calls me to much so unless she wants to pay Sprint to call my unlimited talk phone she can't call me? "

On question pops out at me. Did the consultants do their own physical measurements or were the measurements given to them? If I were a consultant who had my firms name and reputation hanging on a job I would do my own. What is to say the 5 degree approach was "looks like 5 degrees" and not actually 8 degrees or the door height was the frame height and not the clearance height. Just a few thoughts.
-
Wonder if it is cheaper to just raise the door instead of redo the apron and bay floor. Sounds like over kill.

Great way to clear traffic.

Bad box, over time things have surely changed. Since the late 1980's DOH has been known to do surprise vehicle inspections at ERs on ambulances and placing them out of service for deficiencies. The simple fixes would be met with short out of service time to correct them with either an agency warning or fine. The major ones received the dreaded red "Out of Service" sticker placed on the outside of the right side windshield over the yellow and blue DOH sticker.

Prior to EMS becoming hospital based and private systems they were mostly funeral homes and undertakers. The hearse were equipped to perform the double duty of ambulance and funeral service. I guess you can say it had it benefits as they were always able to "bury their mistakes".
