Too bad that homicide suspect from Mount Vernon didn't run here, he would have been free and clear! Just have a good pair of running shoes, and you can stay on the streets forever!

The police "chief" said that if they ID someone, they can get warrants, etc., but what happens when they go to the persons house to arrest them and they run again? Get a double secret warrant?

"ADOPTED town" would do just fine...

Ahem.... Ardsley... Ahem..... Cough Cough.

Maybe when the Times and other media outlets stop calling them "ambulance attendants" and calling them EMTs and Paramedics, then they may start getting somewhere.

Seth- It was the engine that was Engine 1 when I got hired, then became E5, then E8. It is an '87 or so Mack CF.

The last couple of years Stamford has used a private company, but I am unsure which one. I know they get all the hose off, test it, log the numbers on the coupling, and pack it neater and way faster than we ever could. Our new hose wagon has about 4700 feet of 5 inch, and they tested, rolled and packed all of it in less than a day.

"I would put my faith in a good Chauffeur and Officer in the front seat, over any "PC" document being written by an obviously "PC" Chief ANYDAY PERIOD." My idea of a good chauffer is one that stops at all negative intersections. I am not sure if the new rules in Austin say that you have to stop at all intersections, or just negative right of ways. I can tell you that I stop at all negative right of ways and slow at positive ones. I drive the speed limit. I would rather get there in one piece to make that grab instead of, at minimum, sitting in an intersection waiting for the cops to show up. This is not me being "PC", it is me being cautious. You wouldnt' just jump off of a ladder without sounding the roof, or popping a door without checking for heat. YOU CHECK. You check to make sure everyone is stopped. ALWAYS. I drive the same way going to a working fire or auto alarm.

I remember a few years back(maybe 2002 or 2003), we did a drill in the pool and the SCBA actually helps you float. Once the water fills up your boots and soaks the turnout gear, it is just like treading water. We did this in response to a large dock where people were concerned about drowning. The drill was conducted at Yerwood Center on the West Side. Maybe someone else can fill in the details for me, as I only actually remember floating with the SCBA on.

June 16th, 9PM A & E. From A & E's website : In Miami, after a celebrating his 46th birthday with family, a man is found dead on a residential sidewalk. The investigation, supervised by Sgt. Johnny Herrera, uncovers a tangled plot of false leads and secret lives--the victim's past proves as puzzling as his death. After initial leads become futile, the homicide team makes a public plea and gets a shocking lead, sending them on a hunt to catch a potential killer on the run to New York. TV14 | cc This is my girlfriends most recent episode. EVERYONE WATCH IT!!!

Although I never actually met you, I am sure I have heard you dispatch us hundreds of times. RIP.

My condolences to the Becerra family. RIP Frank Sr.

Didn't they do this study like 5 times already? Or is it just discussed every 2 years or so, and nothing happens?

Sometimes being within a few blocks of the canal is too much for me! I would have serious reservations about actually making contact with water, although some scientists searching for a cure for cancer were looking at the film on top. Something about if something can live in that water, it can live anywhere else. Definitely above my pay scale.

RIP Brother. Life is too short.

I think what people are failing to see is that, yes, the SFRD OT costs might have gone up, but the costs associated with salaries and OT in TOR, BFD, and GFD are now 0 dollars. All of the employees that were not in the SFRD budget, now are. With Engines 8 and 9 in service, the minimum staffing of SFRD was raised, manpower increased, and overall combined budget therefore must be increased. Maybe people more in the know than I could fill us in on what TOR, BFD, and GFD salary and OT budgets used to be, but I am willing to bet overall fire department overtime costs are down. That point is never mentioned in any article by the Stamford Advocate, is it?

My condolences to Ricky's family, both his "real" family, and adopted families of DFPD and DFFD.

I look at it this way, Spin City did not really depict life in City Hall, and Rescue Me does not actually depict life in the FD. It is a CARICATURE, nothing more, nothing less.
