Seth, Thats a driving simulator. It was brought to my school to illustrate the effects of drunk driving. It has two "driver' seats." It is also used to teach police officer. Each seat has 3 large screen tv's in front and angled to the side to give the illusion that you are behind the wheel. Along with this, there is a emergency lights control, a PA, and a siren box. The officer controlling the computer can place the the driver in various weather conditions, day or nite, blood alcohol content, and I'm guessing flow of traffic. It's an awesome tool!

Thanx HFD. Bibbles, was your class at the end of August. My friend took his for two weeks straight at the end of August. I would've taken it then, but I had to leave for college before the class ended.

Does anyone know of any FFI classes that are coming up either for the winter or spring/summer?

Riverside Hose will be selling Christmas trees in the rear of the quarters. I believe the proceeds will be used to pay the refurbishment of their 1941 Seagrave. Trees are $9 a foot, howvever FD, PD, VAC/EMS members get a 10% percent discount. They will also be selling wreathes (decorated and undecorated), garland, and tree stands I believe. They will be open 7 days a week. Weekdays are mainly night hours only and weekends are open most of the day. They have some great looking trees this year. I hope everyone had a great day and lots of turkey. Thanks to everyone who gave up time with their families to protect other families. And thanks to all the men and women who are serving our country overseas!

Does anyone know if this is a law in CT? One night I was in a different dorm building when the alarm went off. We all went outside, stood there for awhile, and were then told we were allowed to go back in. I was standing in an area where you can see all vehicles enter, and no FD vehicle, chief, eng. lad., etc ever came in. I know that the FD did respond for burnt food in the oven, but I think that is because they got more than one call about the smoke.

If you ever travel to Philly, you will see that the community really does their support to the memory of PO Faulkner. There are stickers and posters everywhere. I got to read about the incident while I was there while visiting colleges. There was even PO Faulkner Memorial Highway, or something to that affect.

When I attended the 2005 National Law Enforcement Explorers Academy in Ft Leonard Wood, MO, we were given the oppurtunity to shoot a 9mm Sig Sauer, a 12 ga, and the H&K MP5. The MP5 had little kick and was pretty accurate (given I was probably only standing 30ft from the target). I was told, not at the academy, that MP5's were being phased out of military use because they dont have a lot of fire power, again, a 9mm round. Besides being able to shoot 30 rounds in no time, would PO's want to use a 9mm round instead of an AR15, the M16's cousin? And I'm not saying that PO's wouldnt want to have an MP5, just that there are better options.

I like the "outstanding" on the front above the grill. Just wondering, I remember after 9/11 there was a rescue purchased that wasnt a normal FDNY manufactorer. I think it was donated to the FDNY and I think it was called the "Spirit of Oklahoma" or some other state. Is that still in service and if so, where is it being used?

Seth, I am glad to see that you have reopened the site. Dont let the trouble makers get you down, cuz like you said, they just like causing trouble. It would've made it too easy for them had you shut down the site. THANKS for everything that you do for the site and us. This site is where I spend a LOT of my free time up here in college. Keep up the good work, you know that there a lot of people behind you, but keep up your health first, thats most important. Stay well, Stay Safe Andrew Wilgermein aka gpdexplorer

Same, I've only seen Crown Vics with Blue Flashers (some halogen, some LED) I dont know if they went back and changed the halogen filters, but I would think the ones with LED flashers are new units. Next time I'm home, I'll look across the street and try to get a look. (I live across the street from SP Tarrytown)

Good for them! Anything to help the good guys get an edge on the bad guys!
