  1. I'm sure its all a part of the Cuomo vs DiBlasio pissing match. Cuomo wants to increase the state's visible presence in NYC, between increased State Police staffing, changing color scheme on TBTA cars to look like Troopers, etc. http://nypost.com/2016/12/19/its-a-pissing-match-cuomo-defies-de-blasio-again/
  2. What Westchester agency self dispatched? 60 Control dispatched Verplanck FD and WCPD Marine, Verplanck FD requested 60 Control dispatch Croton FD and Tarrytown FD Marine Units. To my knowledge, no agency self dispatched.
  3. Even with a paid EMT from OVAC working, they sometimes still cannot cover their first due calls.
  4. FROM EMS1 By EMS1 Staff NEW YORK — The family of an elderly woman who died filed a lawsuit claiming a private ambulance service boasting "luxury transport" dropped her on the way home from the hospital and those injuries eventually killed her. Court papers allege EMS providers dropped Maddalena Santoro, 90, as they were taking her up the stairs and into her Manhattan apartment December 2012, the New York Post reports. "Her head hit one of the marble stairs, and she ended up in a coma," said lawyer Jeffrey Antin. She was in good health otherwise, and was going to the hospital for wound care, he added. The service, Citywide Mobile Response Corp. boasts advanced medical transport services, and provides plush ambulances featuring 400-thread-count linens, flat-screen TVs, surround sound and a "multi-mode lighting system."
  5. Correct, from what I've heard, effective the 16th 0800, 60 Control will dispatch any calls they receive, a follow up phone to Somers dispatch, then Somers dispatch will run the rest of the call following Somers FD dispatch protocols.
  6. I just pictured the guy from the "Queen, my dishes please" commerical, "He didn't get the joke"
  7. Hoist and Air/Sea rescue or not, any aerial support, particularly during night time operations, is a big help. I would imagine, maybe Helicopper can shed some light on this, that the WCPD airship has FLIR. NYSP and NYPD Aviation were on scene for the initial night time search.
  8. While I too am a proud volunteer, not only of my department, I think proper credit is due to all responders on this incident. This was a multi agency effort, volunteer and career. Everyone acted professionally, and cooperated with each other to the best of everyone's ability. I've never seen so many agencies operating at one incident on the Hudson. Kudos to all!
  9. I know that Rye, Port Chester, Mamaroneck Village, and New Rochelle all have marine units. Don't know much about their capabilities, or if I left anyone out.

  11. Just a reminder this event is happening this weekend. There will be t-shirts and mugs for sale.
  12. Riverside Hose will be having a "wet" down for their new Crimson pumper which was recently placed into service. The ceremonies start on May 12th at 1pm at Riverside Hose in Tarrytown located at the corner of Franklin and White Streets. Following the ceremonies, all are invited to stay for celebrations from 4pm-8pm. At the request of the company, no water please. Will post regarding shirts and the likes when I get more info.
  13. Great job to all! A special pat on the back to all the dispatchers out there, especially at 60 Control! The unsung heroes of emergency services. Stay safe everyone.
  14. I saw a tower from Stratford today and thought it looked a little beat up, guess it is. Good luck Hartsdale, and good work by MV.
  15. As stated, the Seasonal Park Rangers carry O.C. spray, expandable batons, and handcuffs as well as having peace officer status. The park is staffed at minimum with 1 supervisor, 2 police officers, and 10 SPR's, more as needed or depending on the crowds expected. The regulars still refer to the SPR's as specials. To be hired, individuals applying must pass psychological exams, among other things. I've read comments elsewhere that Specials back in the day acted like professionals and wanted to be cops, and that is no different then the SPR's today, other than the fact we don't have a firearm and look like bus drivers. In the past few years, I've had at least 10 friends that were specials, sorry park rangers, hired by various law enforcement agencies around the county.
  16. Another example of members of Westchester County Department of Public Safety trying to keep us safe, and being injured while trying to stop violent civilians. A speedy recovery to all, stay safe out there to all. 18 arrested, 1 WCPD officer injured at Saxon Woods Brawl 4 Park Rangers injured at Playland Fight
  17. Riverside Hose's new Crimson, which was recently delivered, has received its final striping and currently awaiting to be placed in service. Here are some updated photos.
  18. Riverside Hose of Tarrytown is expecting delivery of a Crimson Rescue Pumper. Here are some spy shots of the current progress. More photos can be seen at Crimson Fire.
  19. Word on the street is when members pointed out the specs for the truck would not fit, they were told "we will make it fit." The men at Riverside put countless hours into specing a truck that would fit, but that was not good enough for the village. The Village hired a consultant that would not listen to the senior members who said the height of the truck would be a major issue due to the grade of the apron. The apparatus manufacturer was also told all communications had to go through the comsultant and the village, not the FD.

  21. Riverside's new engine is full speed ahead and delivery is expected in the upcoming weeks.
  22. I can't say that I have experience with any smaller vehicles like you've mentioned. The only smaller one that isn't too uncommon around here is the recycled police crown vic. Also, I know White Plains has a few smaller jeeps, but I don't know what they are used for.
