It is with great sadness that the Lake Carmel Fire Dept announces the passing of former Lieutenant Marcus Sorbellini (39 y/o). Marcus was involved in a one car motor vehicle accident in Beekman early Sunday morning where he died instantly. The passenger was air lifted to St. Frances in Dutchess with non life threatening injuries. While I am on the web site to post about our member and the loss his four daughters now have I am here to extend my sincere gratitude to the men and women of the Beekman Fire dept and Ambulance as well as the Troopers and Medics that were on scene. From what I have gathered talking to a few of you that were on scene it was horrific and there is nothing in the world anybody can say to take those images away. All I can say is keep your head up and keep moving forward your brothers and sisters in Lake Carmel are thinking about you too and we are here if you need us. Arrangements are as follows: Thursday 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Cargain Funeral Home, Fowler Ave, Carmel. Fire Dept will be paying their respects to the family at 7pm in uniform. The Funeral will be at St James on Rt 52 in Carmel on Friday beginning at 11am internment to follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery on Rt 52 in Carmel. Chief Shawn Madsen Lake Carmel FD www.lcfd.com

Mike, There was never a time that I saw you and you weren't laughing, cracking a joke or telling me some story that made me laugh for days. You would always give a hand if somebody needed. You were the most straight forward person I knew always told it the way it was and would never beat around the bush. I don't know who am I going to tell our stories of our wrestling matches or our days at Freight Liquidators. I am just honored to know you and for you to have been apart of mine and my kids life. I will always be looking for you at Mahopac FD events, parades or in a town truck. Rest in Peace my Friend, my Brother, you "little twerp". You will be missed.. Shawn Madsen "your fat buddy"

We were called this morning for a horse stuck in a hole. Upon arrival this is what we found. a 35 year old Morgan horse named Parader with his rear leg stuck in a sink hole. Unknown the amount of time Parader was in the hole but it was completely exausted and had no strength left in him. With the manpower we had we extrciated the horse in approx 20 minutes by pulling and pushing and some rolling. It was then determined because the horse had no strength left we had to lift him up to his feet or he could die. Long story shortened.. The Town of Kent brought a front end loader, the local Horse Hospital out of Patterson brought a harness and the horse was raised up and an IV (5 Litter) was established.. After an hour or two Parader couldn't hold up his own weight still so they loaded him into a horse trailer to transport to New England Equestrian (sp?)Patterson Horse Hospital. Awesome job by Lake Carmel FD, Kent FD, Kent PD, Putnam County Emergency Services, Town of Kent and the 4 or 5 Vets that were on location..

35 years old in horse years is equal to a 90 year old human...
-
Sad to say Parader passed away early this morning at New England "Horse Hospital" with his half brother by his side. His half brother "Glory" is also 34 years old and they have spent their life together...

LOL... "Hey what did you do today??" "Well I was awaken for a call in the morning and went and lifted a horse out of a hole, what did you do??"

No tranqs were used. They wanted that horse to get up on his own power. They did pump him with anti inflammatory and a warmed up IV to raise his body temperature.

Single Car PIAA.. Vehicle (Mercury Cougar)with Driver alone went off the road and hit a rock embankment, flipped end over end (per witnesses) and landed as pictured. Patient unconscious upon arrival. When you look at the vehicle keep in mind NO extrication equipment was used to remove patient. Yes.. We were all scratching our heads wondering How in the world did he survive.. All photos from my phone

It was a mess.. He was talking to me prior to him being removed from the vehicle so as far as the crumple working for him aaa YEAH!!! What amazed me more then anything was the A post seperation at the roof. It was a clean cut... Medic said we did a nice job cutting. I had to laugh Nope that was God's extrication job....LOL..
