THE NEWS THE NEWS THE NEWS.... Anything to make something out of nothing... If we stopped watching the news people wouldn't get so overly excited. The Blizzard of 96 was bad and the one in March of 93 (my son was born that weekend) but we were all back to normal a few days after it began. I think its a conspiracy... Home Depot and Lowes pay extra money to have them (the weather people) hype up he storms so everybody goes and buys snowblowers, salt and shovels...

It shouldn't be the National Weather Service.. it should be National Dont Have a Clue About Weather Service

With all do respect this is why we are dieing. Whether a brother was involved or not the vest is part of your PPE then it should be worn. Would you not put on your helmet because your brothers house is on fire or SCBA for that matter. If its in part of your PPE it should be worn. Yes maybe traffic flow was stopped but how about the multiple ambulance's, fire apparatus, Chief vehicles, Police vehicles and tow truck that were on scene. Do those count? We do not have a bridge in our area but I would imagine that with the 15 vehicle accident that the flow of traffic was shut down and some emergency vehicles might come from the opposite direction. That's a lot of traffic even the though the road is shut down.

THERE are 12 members of the FDNY that had to go to the hospital because someone made a horrible choice. Someone wasn't doing THEIR job and that was to arrive at the scene safely and because of that action and/or actions 12 families were disrupted. 12 phone calls were made that changed lives possibly forever. It has nothing to do with playing monday morning quarterback, two apparatus, responding to the same alarm crashed and that should not happen. That is the fact. TSull, I don't know how it should be handled, retraining, suspension or if it was the drivers fault revoke their driving previlage. I don't have the answer but something should happen that stops this from happening again. This avoidable incident not only caused heartache and turmoil with the families of ALL involved but it also cost the FDNY two apparatus and countless manpower issues. If I offended anyone I do apologize that was not my attempt here. There is a serious problem throughout our nation when we have over a hundred LODD per year and thousands of apparatus accidents were most of them are avoidable. It should be unacceptable...

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AGAIN???????? I wish EVERYBODY a speedy recovery. I hope those that are responsible are held accountable for there actions in this completely AVOIDABLE incident... Enough is enough!!!
-
Well we did it again.. as of November 11th there were 100 LODD in the United States of America. When will we learn?
-
But they don't like Ranger Fans up there, ay!!

Ahhhh Buckout Rd... I now have chills going up my spine.. My story is nothing like LTNRFD's but it only took the shadow in the windows to freak us out at 2 in the morning..

Honestly how do we know what caused the " electrical short"? What is the sparks from? Lightning strike? Construction going on in the structure? With that being said SEND 'EM OUT!! Possible structure.. But advise the first responding units of the call information. As for electrical short as a "Clearing Code" we dont have that on our CAD. Its would be "Necessary Action Taken". Water can , HAHA just kidding. ABC extinguisher, TIC, Halogen, Pike. Screw driver.. Putnam County 100 % Volunteer. most ( if the have a ladder) Engine, Ladder then tanker. If no ladder Engine, Tanker etc...

patience young man patience.. I have to crop out your mug before I put pictures to the website.

This is one amazing weekend... Explorers from all over came to Putnam County to learn, to compete and to make friends as MahopacFire had stated. It is the 7th year in row and is not going to stop. I had to work on Saturday but spent most of Sunday out there (after a 16 hour shift at the 911 center) and I had a great time and we had some awesome weather opposed to yesterday (tornado warning!! enter lots of laughing here) all that were there understand. Thank you to Mahopac FD, Brewster FD, Carmel VAC, Carmel FD,Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services, and all of the members of Lake Carmel fire dept that assisted in making this weekend another great success. If I forgot somebody I am sorry. If it wasn't for all of you for the last seven years this weekend wouldn't be where it is today. If my calculations are correct there have been over 1000 explorers that have attended the weekend since the beginning. WOW!! Codus to Fitzjr11 for putting the event together for another year and EJS1810 for dealing with her, (insert more laughter here). I almost forgot. Thank you to Outback Restaurant of Danbury for the dinner Saturday Night.
