I am trying to understand why there are still departments not doing accoutnability. We all get the same training(basiclly), we all get the same fire magazines and I am sure all of stop and hear the horror stories on the news about lost firefighters dieing. Are those departments just waiting for something to happen to them or the departments close to them? By then it will be to late. We would lose another bother. It is time for standardizing everywhere.

Rollover should be automatic FD and EMS. Why would anybody think differently, your talking about life and death.

Sweet, Lake George in general is awesome but camping without the hustle and bustle of Lake George is even better. We have camped in place called Lake George Escape (exit 23)which is very nice but getting a little strict. Last year they warned us because we were laughing and it was only 10:30 at night on a friday. Needless to say we are looking for a new place this year.

Think about it Nick, How many times do we pull to a piaa and the tow trucks are there allready. The MCI the other day the police had the been on location for at least 10 minutes before we where called. The call in Brewster same thing. Came over dispatch as 1 minor injury with state police on location. Turned into needing three ambulances 4 people going to Danbury Hosp. Trauma.

Not Funny! NICE AVATAR!

I can't wait. We recently ordered a Smeal/Spartan 1500 gal first due engine with a "light tower". We had a couple of calls this past year that Mahopac Falls came and we used them and they worked like a charm. Those few calls basiclly sold us on them. After the engine comes in we are ordering a rescue and the light tower will be on there.

we go to a place in Newburgh if we don't want to drive far. Called KOA campground. Its always a good time. We also go up to Lake George, there is about twenty camp grounds in that area. I can keep going, there is alot of places to go.

Holy Crap! Sorry about that. To early in the morning, not seeing straight.
-
Hey Doug, why don't you like them? Is there a problem? We just ordered a light tower with our new engine.

JBE, Thats how Putnam does it, Dispatch on 46.38 and we sign enroute on 46.44/46.54 and then go to Channel 4 (Carmel uses channel 2, Brewster uses channel 3 this wasy nobody steps on anybody. It is very simple and works effectivly.

I still can't believe after all these years they still can't fix this situation. The thousands of calls the 60 control handles a year is enough to worry about. Now put in the fact that everybody else is doing what ever they want is just incredible. Why? A 10-10 is effect and these "base station" are putting there tests out. Who has control??? Where is the Commissionor? I sit hear and have been reading these posts for a few months and I can't over how no one has gone "postal" on anybody. Not a Chief, not a dispatcher at 60 control. Some of it can be easily fixed. How about before a department does their weekly test they call 60 control to make sure the air is clear. That would rectify alot.

They recieved a grant to upgrade there radio system. It seems to work with all the hills around them.

I guess times have changed. I was sitting here reading the other post where the ambulance is basicly being run by high schoolers. It must be the wave of the future. I remember being an explorer begging to just to ride on a rig to a drill. Now 16 and 17 year olds are running calls and taking lives into there hands. I wonder what is going to happen( or it has happened allready) when that 6 month old dies because of a mistake they made or they pull up to vehicle accident and its there friend. How will they react? I know when it happens to adult werecieve consuling if they need it.Kids today don't know they can do that or they are "to cool" to talk to anyone. Sorry for the venting, my daughter is an explorer and I am an advisor for Lake Carmel, I don't want these kids to be exposed to the things most of us have seen and the stories we have all heard from other Emergency responders until they are ready. Just a simple opinion from a simple man. Let them crawl before we teach them to walk.

JBE, 3-3 was moved in December. Once we recieved the old chiefs car and made it 17-81 fire police vehicle the chief figured we could use 3-3 at station II for fire police. There is no way another fire house in our near future. We are still trying to get over this "Taj Mahal".

Scary, Leaving a sixteen year old in charge of 2 to 3 lives going to a hospital while CPR is in progress. Just doesn't seem right. We don't allow anyone to drive until they are 21 years old.

Most of the Fire police in Putnam have a vehicle dedicated to there team. Ours happens to be an old chief suburban. And they take pride in that truck. It beats out our 1st due all the time. and you are 100% right, they take pride in there vest, jackets, flashlights and there badges. Can't forget there badges.

Can you say "Fire Police".

FAST should be as automatic as an "Engine to structure fire".With a structure fire, automatic alarm or even a PIAA there is a certain order there is first due, second due.etc.... know mater what of day or what time.
