A couple more photos of 22-6-1, the 1988 Mack/Saulsbury. I would love to replace the current 22-5-1 (1989 Sutphen 100') with a stick. Too bad we didn't have the money in the budget to look at Mt. Kisco's stick

Love the quote from the union "Too stupid to be true" Chicago Sun Times seems like every few years, about 10 or so, some knucklehead comes up with a brilliant idea like this. Even FDNY is facing this with the 6 out of 10 proposal, but at least that would have been off the ones that at least took a test. Cant wait to retire and move to the middle of nowhere away from stupid people

Seth, No one is blaming the dispatchers at 60-Control. You guys did the best you could in an overwhelming situation. The FDNY, NYPD and EMS were in chaos at the time, add in departments from all over wanting to help in some way, it definitely was not an easy task. As a example of the chaos in the NYPD, I was off-duty an directed to report to the 50. Pct. Once I got there, they had no clue what to do with the 5 of us that showed up so we were out in a van and brought to the Bronx boro command, the 48 Pct IIRC. They had no clue either so we were sent back to the 50 and directed to take our personal cars to the Outdoor Range at Rodmans Neck. From there we boarded city buses to our commands. I left my house at 1000 and finally got to my command at west 42 st and 8 Avenue at 1930 hours. At that point they still had no clue who or how many police officers were missing, or where to assign us.

I'll second that, I remember hearing 60-Control dispatch that as I was getting ready to head into the 50 Pct, and thinking "what the hell was that." ...as a side note all you need to open those magnetic hydrants is a good strong speaker magnet, and a pipe wrench. just ask any kid in the neighborhood to show you how to do it.

The blue light doesn't matter to me. Some times I use it, mostly I do not. Either way people tend to drive like morons in front of me..either 10 mph less than the speed limit, or talking on their phones, or just completely lost. What about fire parades? Plenty of grumbling last year when our department almost didn't go to any.

I've noticed it too. I am using Firefox version 3.5.6 Emtbravo loads, and as I begin to scroll down, I get as far as the advertisements and then Emtbravo re-loads and brings me back to the top.

i think this thread should be closed by the moderators, nothing good is going to come of. PS I have a degree in Fire science, and wanted to be a firefighter, but PD called first, and due to economic circumstances at the time, had to turn down FDNY when the time came in 1999.

Ladder12, It was my post you got your panties in a knot over. go back and look it over again. " is. heading home after a long 17 and hours doing nothing at work. The hardest part. was staying awake to fill out the OT slip ." Yeah I did nothing for 17 hours and 35 minutes ,that was due to the weather. If it snowed or not, I was expected to be there, awake and ready to go, standing on my post. I was on patrol that entire time, with a Not sleeping in a bunkroom after 11 pm in a city owned bed. I was tired, cold and my feet hurt from standing most of that time, I was so tired when I finished, that filling out my OT slip ( for 8 hours55 minutes) was a real challenge. I take my job serious, but there are times when you need to blow off steam. If it had not snowed I would have gotten a lot less OT, but do to the weather, people had trouble getting in, and as a result people got forced to stay, and reliefs had trouble getting out to the posts. PS I have a Bachelor of Science, and I am a couple of credits short of double minor.

Hehehe.... I an the lieutenant responsible for Patterson's ladder. Doesn't mean I have to like it....insert sarcasm .....being Lt or being responsible

My favorite is easy, Hahn. It seemed like the harder we beat on it, the better it preformed. My least favorite, Sutphen tower ladders.....the bucket is useless for anything other than a water tower, and the ground ladders can be a pain to get on and off. The specs have a lot to do with it though. a well planned and laid out apparatus will succeed where a rig not thought out will fail even when made by the same manufacturer

I check it when I an using my cell phone. It seems to load quicker than EMTBravo.net and has the latest discussions on it. I like the way it is, and love the new software for .Net

That would be a Young Crusader. I have to agree with Tanker10 Eng, the Compac was much uglier, a International cab with its nose chopped off. The Young was an attempt for low profile, with high visibility for the driver. Its looks grow on you. Personally nothing compares to early Eighties Hahn. Here is PLeasantville's 1980 Hahn, Ex- Patrol 7, later Rescue 47. ( retired in 2006)

Since Pleasantville seems hell bent on getting a ladder, maybe they should take a look. the quick availability mentioned in the TL-5 thread and a great price, it couldn't hurt

Typical savage behavior. Savages come in all ethnicities, not just Somali. Probably smart enough to not mess with someone bigger than they are, but will end getting their's at some point and time.

I've seen it done with an election for chief. The membership voted for a candidate, and when the commissioners voted, they voted NO for said candidate and he was not elected. Was it legal....not sure but. The decision stood

Here is a photo of Ladder 42 I took at Pleasantville's parade earlier this year. I have it listed as 110'
