  1. Who said the front intake restricts water flow
  2. This one was across the street, and I would not have seen it from the road, but the woman who works in a deli/garden store told me about it. 1947 American LaFrance, Ex- Hudson, NH Ladder 2. The trailer portion of this rig stayed inservice until 1998 ( the tractor seen here was replaced in 1977). On their website, http://hudsonfirefighters.com/retired_apparatus.htm there is a picture of it.
  3. Ex-Milton, NY 1974 International/Sanford. The owner was willing to sell this one for $4000
  4. The next three I found in Ulster County as well, all in the same location. Ex- North Attleborough 1970 ALF. Originally an Aero Chief 90, it was refurbished in 1985 and a 100' straight stick replaced the boom
  5. A Ford/Grumman ambulance I found in a parking lot in Ulster County
  6. Ex- White Plains, E-68
  7. ex-White Plains, NY E-72
  8. Glastonbury, Saltsburg and Garrison ambulance taken at the end of May this year
  9. SP9322, Ex-E-224
  10. SP 9312, Ex-E251
  11. Brookfield Autowrecking gets alot of apparatus. First up is Ex-FDNY Engine 155. SP9715
  12. The ambulance seen above is Garrison 32-72
  13. Also on the same lot are two Ford C, the red from Saltsburg, PA and the yellow is marked 'Lyme'. Never found out where it was from though.
  14. This 1980 Hahn from Glastonbury, CT I found in Bedford Hills. I have been told (on another board) that this was in a program called Mutual Aid Americas, that sends fire apparatus and equipment to departments in South America
  15. I found this 1980 Hahn, ex-Larksville, PA in Wilkes Barre, PA being used for advertising in May of 2009
  16. After a road trip yesterday, I realized I had a bunch of roadside relics, fire apparatus either reused for something else, or left to rot. First up is a Continental Compac. I found it working on a construction site in Poughkeepsie just south of the train station in October, 2009. It looks like it was originally slime yellow, but i was unable to ask anyone to look for more info on it.
  17. The driver might have, remember these doors are only two inches thick or less, not the most visible thing in the mirror.
  18. Would that be using a 5 inch Siamese supplied by two 3 inch lines, if a large diameter discharge is unavailable, versus an adapter off a single discharge to 5 inch (a 2 1/2 inch to 5 inch adapter) that is almost impossible to supply.
  19. To get an idea of the size of the '343', here is a photo I took back in June, from the middle of the Manhattan Bridge looking in towards the Brooklyn Navy Yard. From left to right are the Alfred Smith, Kevin C Kane, a marine Ops Whaler, and the 343.
  20. Sorry for the late notice, I got an e-mail last night requesting that I post this. Patterson Fire Department 13 Burdick Road Patterson, NY * Saturday July 17th 2010 4pm to 7pm Patterson FD is hosting a Dry Down for its new rescue 22-6-1, a 2010 Spartan/SVI. Food and refreshments will be available.
  21. Parade usually starts on Bedford Rd at Romer Ave, and proceeds down Bedford Rd (west) to Memorial Plaza. Right turn into Memorial Plaza (north) and then a sweeping right hand turn onto Manville Rd (east) From there it turns left onto Grove Ave (north)near Farrows Service Center , a left onto Edgewood, followed by a left onto Washington Ave and PFD HQ. Most of the ladders fall out of the Parade before turning left onto Grove, and are parked on Manville just past Farrows, where Manville widens out. Engines and Ambulances usually are parked on Washington Ave between the firehouse and Manville Rd. Hope this helps. PS I am going to try to be there myself.
  22. IIRC it does not have 4 Q sirens. The two on the front of the bumper are just covers for the electronic siren speakers. Still too much stuff for me.
  23. Unit : Portable check central. Central : 5 by 5 unit, how do you read central? Unit : Like a book central.
  24. Saw this article in today's NY Post. Allegedly Anderson Cooper has purchased the house on West 3 Street. CNN star buys Firehouse
