My volunteer department gives annual physicals. EKG, hearing, vision, urine and blood work, fit testing of mask, pulmonary function, vitals, and this year added heart rate after carrying 20 lb and 30 lb weight a short distance plus time on a tread mill. My paid law enforcement job gives me nothing.

I bet dollars to donuts that most of the Westchester departments still do not have the adapters necessary to use the FDNY threads of hydrants. What of communications? Who is really going to respond. Yonkers and , New Rochelle., but they have their own cities to worry about, Mt Vernon who needs mutual aid for a lot of their own jobs, or all the same combo departments? The volunteers?? This is an unknown as to what you will get both in terms of numbers and experience. Its one thing for a 9/11 type incident, but on a regular basis I don't think it will work.

Sweet. Thanks for posting. When I was a member of the Pleasantville Fire Patrol, we had a real quick discussion on trying to purchase it, but it was determined to be too expensive for the company pursue. Never realized it was in such good condition.
-
IIRC that is the old fire patrol. Any other photos?. Also wishing I had the money to buy it.

I dont think we wil see any negotiations anytime soon. Bloomburg has done his best to poison public opinion against us. Lets face it until the precinct that covers Bloomburg's residence is short staffed and fire house has a delayed response because they are covering larger areas he does not give a $&!

Boost Mobile is owned by Sprint Nextel. The Iden technology is to be replaced in 2013, by a "massive network upgrade." So glad I no longer use Sprint, their service is legendary....and not in a good way

Most of the current station houses could not physically handle a consolidation with another precinct. They would be bursting at the seams, especially in the locker rooms. You would not gain any more cops for patrol, and would gain a larger area to cover with longer response times. Plus NYC liked the ability to be able to walk into the neighborhood precinct when a complaint needs to be made.

Scary thoughts JBE. PD staffing is absolutely down. Something like 20 guys a day retire. Most precincts are stripped to the bone. On a midnight, my command averages 5 to 6 cops and 1 sergeant to cover three subway lines in the Bronx. One cop has to cover the desk with a LT or a SGT. If there are any sick prisoners or bodies waiting to be lodged at Bronx CB from the othet tours, there is no one left for patrol. There are no new officers in sight and we have been told by the higher ups to make do.

No layoffs, yet. closing companies would reduce OT. Funny how every department has made budget cuts, but Bloomberg's pet projects like the waterfront and those unused bike lanes and pedestrian plazas continue to expand with no end in sight.

Maybe instead of holding a lightly attended parade every year, they could hold it once every five years. I am not speaking just of Carmel, but all departments that still have parades. I have seen how much my department spent for bands to attend parades, and,it was disgusting. Especially when you saw how few members attended to march.

Information maybe found at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services website : http://www.pcbes.org/forms/files/Radio%20SOP%20January%202010.pdf. Apparatus numbering, dispatching, and radio use guidlines. Putnam County uses as four digit identifier for all aparatus FIRST TWO DIGITS identifies the department. 11 = Brewster Fire Department 12 = Carmel Fire Department 13 = Cold Spring Fire Department 14 = Continental Village Fire Department 15 = Garrison Fire Department 16 = Kent Fire Department 17 = Lake Carmel Fire Department 18 = Mahopac Fire Department 19 = Mahopac Falls Fire Department 21 = North Highlands Fire Department 22 = Patterson Fire Department Department 23 = Putnam Lake Fire Department 24 = Putnam Valley Fire Department 31 = Carmel Ambulance Corps 32 = Garrison Ambulance Corps 33 = Philipstown Ambulance Corps 34 = Putnam Valley Ambulance Corps 35 = Medic Units THIRD DIGIT identifies type of apparatus 1 =Chief Vehicle 2 = Engine 3 = Brush truck or mini pumper 4 = Tanker 5 = Aerial Device 6 = Rescue 7 = Ambulance 8 = Fire Police, utility, hose, etc. 9 = portable radio (some use to identify officers other than chief, i.e. captain) *Marine Units will be identified by department number- marine-1 I.E. 18-Marine-1 FORTH DIGIT identifies unit number within department for example 22-2-3 would be Patterson Fire (22)- Engine (2) - third engine in department (3) County Medics / BLS will be identified as: Medic 1 - Philipstown / Garrison Unit Medic 2 - Putnam Valley Unit / Continental Village Medic 3 - Carmel / Kent / Mahopac / Mahopac Falls Medic 4 –Brewster / Patterson / Lake Carmel BLS 4 - Brewster / Patterson / Lake Carmel

Thanks JBE, I had it up and then I don't know what I did. I just went back and redid the post instead of the mess that posted. According to the Putnam County website, 8 is for miscellaneous vehicles/fire police/hose, 9 is listed as portable radio

Do you have EZ Pass? That system records specific dates and times that you pass thru tolls. In speaking with guys on NYPD Auto Crimes Unit, the LPR does not record plates and locations. It will record plates that it got a hit on, and if IIRC the data base on the in car computer must be updated daily thru a WIFI connect at certain department facilities. The data base contains a list of registrations that are already marked by NYS DMV as being stolen, or suspended.

I did a ride along with E64 back in 1992, and the houses were connected then. They are connected at the rear by a kitchen.

I was able to get a couple of photos of some Transcare equipment today in Putnam County First up is BLS 4, a 2009 AEV/Traumahawk
-
A generic Transcare supervisor vehicle
-
Medic 4, a Ford Explorer. Transcare no longer marks the vehicles as "Medic 1,2,3,4" as the cars get rotated now to spread the wear and tear
-
Come and Eat, the foods ready right Meow.

Glad that MFer is dead. I would have preferred a slow death, just long enough to see the American flag on the shoulders of the unit that got him. With that said, STAY VIGILANT. This is not the end.

Metro North offers direct service to Yankee Stadium from all three lines, and there is a shuttle from Grand Central Terminal to Yankee Stadium. http://mta.info/mnr/html/yankees/yankee_home.htm

I believe the city went with the Fusion, since it is available as a hybrid, which I should have mentioned earlier. Starts off in electric, and then the gas motor kicks in. Decent car, with pretty good mileage allows Bloomberg to tout NYC as going green.
-
I think it is part of the few older cars maintained for retirements/ and the police museum. I saw it again this morning in a yard off the Wakefield stop on Metro North's Harlem line. It was parked behind an older car from the 1960's. There is a storage yard with new vans and cars as well. It is definitely not used for everyday patrol.

Thanks a lot you j%$#. Way to influence the public's opinion on all firefighters.

There are a bunch in service. We got ours in November. Not a bad car, but not meant for police work. The inside is too small to put a computer in the front and have two officers in the car. Also no partition. The stock tires do not like potholes, we went thru four tires in week.

Most people do this already at accidents, its just a matter of getting them trained to do it when other things like car stops, assisting disabled vehicles. are going on. There is always that one (or two) orifices that truly do not care. Here is a photo I took last year of a truck roll over on I-684 shortly after the NYSP arrived. and after the HELP truck arrived to assist with cones Not much difference between the two, although the second photo the cars are more organized due to advanced warnings put out by the HELP truck (signs) which are not visible in the photo.
