The remains of WTC 4? and the South Tower The outside shell of one of the towers on Church St

The first night Lower Manhattan was without power and phone service. Flat bed trailers were already arriving with large construction equipment. A few tents were set up in front of WTC 5 as a command post

We have old saying "loser goes to the hospital, winner goes to jail." Call for backup, and prevent others from joining in. even with 2 officers in a car, you are still outnumbered. Your safety is paramount. Even if some run off eventually you will find out who was involved and grab them at a later date and time

I started off in Pleasantville, and now that I am in a department that relies on tankers I realize how much easier it was to establish water supply.
-
Pleasantville has a very good municipal water system in this part of town. No need for tankers. IIRC the exposures are the street, parking lot, railroad tracks, and an auto body shop.

$5000 would not even cover the start up of the helicopter. And yes some places will send a bill a rescues performed. Glad to see most of the civilliand and all the first responders went home safe.

I think this has been on Firepics.net Once I get power back I can take a look. Not sure if it was its own thread under apparatus or part of the relics thread

All I can say is Holy Cow, man. Great photos, and job by everyone involved

Only reason I could see, is the driveway is on a hill. Both the gasoline and the foam would both run down the street.

Our tower ladder has one of each. The fog/adjustable is set up with electronic controls to allow one man operation from the turntable (with limited manpower). The other has stacked tips, but I cannot recall the sizes from memory. That one must be operated from the bucket.

They claim there is no room with all the construction, and added security since Obama is coming. Just another slap in the face we have to endure. Douchebags

Well if your on welfare you do get a free cell phone now. Seriously in most neighborhoods there are no public phones on the street. This system is there, and for the most part is pretty reliable. I think that the ruling does not mean everyone needs to have system like this, but that the city's argument (Bloomberg) to save money was not true.

It blends with the vehicle color during the day, but when illuminated, its is highly visible. Some PD's use it to blend patrol vehicles with normal cars, kind of an unmarked marked car. Otherwise it keeps the vehicle with an understated look. X129k, LOL!!

NYPD is still using UHF frequencies for the precincts and special ops. (transit still on VHF). FDNY I believe is still broadcasting over both UHF and VHF dispatch frequencies. See this thread from last year for more info Nothing has gone digital in NYC. Hope this helps

Looks like a well thought out rescue! Great photos for shooting blind, or not. I found what was missing, I guess your department doesn't want the officer touching the siren, LOL

Took this at Pawling's parade Friday night. Wish I had my regular camera. 1930 Seagrave, inservice until 1956.

Here is the builder's plate. Absolutely gorgeous!

Should've had the Vulcans file the suit.

Most of those lightbats are the LED version. I havent seen a halogen bulb version in a few years. All cars have LEd flasher on rear deck in addition to tail/brake light flasher. In the front are strobe corner flahers

That test question is racist, city residents dont live in buildings that look like the ones drawn for the question. WHere are the fire escapes, urine pooled in the hallways and trash hanging in the trees. Only people from the suburbs (whites) live in such structures, and would be able to figure out which one is on fire.

Thanks for sharing the video. Nice to see and hear these antiques under power. Hope to make it down there someday for this event

Great photos JBE! Looks like a busy 4 months, but well worth it

After the discussion in the Michigan State Police and their "Unity Light" I had the opportunity to photograph some law enforcement vehicles in Michigan. I stopped by the State Police barracks in Hastings, MI in Barry County. The barracks were closed due to budget constraints, and will be consolidated with another barracks in Allegan, MI about a half hour away. Photo of Michigan State Police patch Seal on the door of a car
