I have been in EMS for a few years (not an EMT yet) however I have been to a Call audit and a CME at a bar and I must say they do a pretty good job of making sure people are not drinking and driving. I've seen alot of people but only a few cars in the parking lot. It doesnt bother me when I see that at all. If fire houses have bars they why can't ems have trainning at bars?

If you all really think about it, it all comes back to how the media found out. im sure stuff like this happens all over the country and yet because PD was only doing their job and the EMT's where doing their job they are the ones getting critized by the media. Talk about making a criminal a perfect angel!! Yes, I know that I contradicted myself im my previous statement about it being on angency's fault, but after reading everyone elses oppions it made me start thinking. If this "kid" didnt have a guilty consenious then maybe this would have never of happened, but it did. "We all learn from everyone ones mistakes" is what I was told by one of my FF1 instructors. So if your taking offense to this thread don't we are all learning from you guys that should be a privilage. We are not "bashing" anyone. BE SAFE EVERYONE!!!

I just dont get it, it sounds to me like the Police Chief did the wrong thing and is trying to blame the ambulace corp stating that they didnt do the right thing. First off, the problem I see here is most of the local PD's know who is on the ambulace when they get there and some know weather one is an emt/paramedic/driver/attendent (am I right so far). Second, You can't miss Trans-Care's Paramedic truck it says "TRANS-CARE" right on the side of it. (weird) I find it hard to believe that all the officers didnt see that white truck with those big green letters on it. Its kinda hard to miss. Not only that but where does it say that an officer can remove the barbs of a taser? And finally, I support the emt's that where on that shift it all comes back to them when NYS DOH is looking at the PCR. ITS NOT YOUR FAULT GUYS STAY STRONG YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!!!! DON'T WORRIE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE YOU KNOW THAT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT!!!!!!

You know I haven't been on many EMS runs where I have had to deal with pregnet women. When first started to ride as an attendent a women in labor was my first pager call. She had just gotten released from the hospital (WMC) and was on her way home (or so she thought), when she started having contractions with were 3-5 min. appart.(I was the second person on scene) Too make a long story short she denied that she was going to have the baby that day, she said that there was no way in heck that she was going to give birth it was just too early. When we got to the hospitial the doctor told us to go up to materanity (talk about a DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $500 situation) so the crew on the rig brings her upstairs and she has the baby. That is the first and only time that I have been on a call like that. I've been on many car accidents, stroke, dibetic emergencies, but I have never seen that much chaos in one area.

I dont think that "the bus" would fit on many streets in Westchester. However, I think it would make a pretty unique disscussion piece at an event such as a celebration/PR events.

Its not only that a few months ago there was a drill in the Tri-Village an incidnet took place in which a person wearing an EMS shirt walked up and sat in an ambulace and took off. So with that said, IT IS ABOUT DANG time that someone put this on paper. becuase you never know when something like 9/11 is going to happen again.

I would love to see forceible entry tools on EMS rigs. I think it would be awsome. I know one agency in the Town of Cortlandt area that was looking to do so. With the proper trainning I think it would be pretty successful. anyone else agree?

YES, you heard right 2671 is the Wackenhut fire supervisor (i work for wackenhunt and getting transfered there in a few months) as fair as i know they have an engine and i think they still have the ambulace. they are supposed to be getting a new one from what the head of secuirty has told me.

There was a guy from Verplank that had one of those helmets. They scored pretty high on the NFPA scale for protection. I think I would give it a try too see how much visibilty I would have. because as some of us know those New Yorkers,1010's and the new 1040's could be pretty heavy on the head.

I agree with you that EMS should carry hydra rams,but not just that they should carry all forceable entry tools. thanks everyone for the help. I was in the Law Enforement program at the TECH CENTER IN YORKTOWN and never once did I ever think about this. Everyone be safe and have a great day.
