Hey all on the update. We are awaiting the arrival of our 1st ambulance. It will be here on the 18th of this month. The rig is currently going through its final touch ups. There was a hold back because of lettering and decaling.

9 times out of 10 I have the family sit up front with a seatbelt. If the pt is under the age of 18 I will ask the parent to ride in the back ( nature of call premetting) when parent is in the back I have them sit in the captains seat with a seatbelt on. If the pt is an infant or a toddler parent and pt sit together with belts on.

Some lf their medics are police officers. If you look at the medic trucks which are used for the police they say police on them. Its only until you look closely do you see the DOH stickers. Not actually sure how this works I'll ask around for you and get a straight answer. I'm all about the right to beare arms, but this just seems crazy to me. I'd be to worried about who I have on the ambulance and do I actually trust them with a gun. Some I can't even trust to drive an ambulance. There should be some kind of training required to have members who are in EMS to carry guns.

Newsbuff, from talking with a couple guys who work on the dodges they say they are awful. One said he gets thrown around because the suspension is too hard. Another said it sits to high off the ground. If you look at the demers it sits low for a 4x4. Not really a high step to the box or the cab. Demers is getting very popular they were voted innovators of the year at the past JEMS conf. There will be 2 regular cab T-1's coming to Westchester soon. When I first saw the truck I wasn't sure what to think however the more and more I looked at it on line I was pretty excited!

Due to the fact that some of us in westchester get medics on automatic dispatch is the lack of BLS knowledge out there. EMD should always be done reguardless of the call volume. I cannot begin to discribe who pissed I become when I see "No EMD due to call volume" if its that busy hire more people and get the proper help needed. We are depriving that cardic arrest pt proper care because of someone playing russian roulet on how many dispatchers are needed to run an operations center. Let's face it the amount of EMS calls has gone up everywhere!!! Its time to get prepared. Get these guys some help!
