  9. I always thought it was ok to take pictures at scenes. as long as there where no pictures of dead bodies, victiums faces, or anything else in that nature. Is it true or have i been miss led?
  10. was a cause ever determined?? wasn't able to come with MFD because of a prior incident was told to take it easy. boys said they saw it from station 3.
  11. I found this article on Firehouse.com. Thought I would share it with everyone. It reminds me of how my proposal didn't go. Romantic Proposal Leads to New York Gazebo Blaze CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Lawrence Waterhouse III pulled out all the stops - and all the candles - when he proposed marriage to his girlfriend in the gazebo outside his suburban home. "He had set it up very, very nicely," Chappaqua Fire Chief Andy Metz said Thursday. "He had candles in the trees, candles and dogwood petals along the path, a chandelier with votive candles." The girlfriend apparently said yes to the romantic Wednesday night proposal, and the couple left town early Thursday for a trip out west, Metz said. Unfortunately, at least one of the candles apparently stayed lit. "We got the call about 7:15 this morning, and when I got there five minutes later the gazebo was fully involved in flames," the chief said. "Luckily, nothing else burned." Metz tracked down Waterhouse at a New York airport and told him about the fire, but advised him to continue with his trip. "Nobody was hurt, so I told him to go ahead with his vacation," the chief said. "He gave me his brother's number, and the brother told me about the proposal." The chief said the fire was "a unique event." "We've had candle fires, of course, but I can't remember one at this level of romance."
  12. Heard one that happened a long time ago. Back when The Club in Montrose caught fire. Three members were operating a line when all of a sudden they got disorented and started yelling for help (before the time of portables). An officer at the time wearing no PPE ran in and grabbed the third guy on the line buy his air pack and pulled them out, Before the celing came down. No one was injured and all members to this day are still active.
  13. I understand what you mean Chris192, but at the same time wasn't everyone preached scene safty from which ever part of Emergency Services you are in?? Does this not fall under scene and response safety??
  14. i am just not understanding the issue here. when we went through FF1 and any of our EMS classes weren't we told that safty is our number 1 priority?? first comes ours then comes the patient or where ever else we are taking care of? of PD is going to enforce the laws with the vol. then they need to start treating everyone equal. take care of the tow trucks, snow plows, cable/telephone trucks, ect. if PD doesn't fallow the law why should we?
  15. where I belong any time a structure fire gets conformed we roll our rehab unit and an ambulance. we also place a crew in quarters to cover the area until the scene is clear.
  16. I wonder how you would dispatch that 911 call?????
  17. As a driver in a ambulance corp where all 3 rigs have the dual siren hook up, I do use it once in a while. Unless I am told not to by the crew chief or the medic. With the way they are making cars now with the sound proof windows its better to have an Ambulance, Fire engine,w/e the case my be with an air horn system. I have to see if i can find the article and post the link to it 68% of the cars now a days are being made with sound proof windows. by 2010 100% of cars/trucks/vans will have sound proof windows. everyone should invest in an air horn system in the near future.
  18. It never tripped my portable Remember. I always get the tones at home for the ccavc and MFD. that "tapping" noise gets annoying after a few seconds. has anyone tried to call ESS about it??
  19. i am 84% fire whacker
  20. I was just on the Lake Mohegan site and noticed at the top of station 1 is a house siren. Does anyone know if it still functions? for all the time I've been on Rt. 6 I have never heard it. Happy Easter. Jr.
  21. cool. thanks guys
  22. The only way to get that information out is to expand. This site is very popular by people all over the United States. There isn't much to be done but to except the fact that everyone needs everyones help and the only way to do it quick and easy is with the internet. No matter how many ways you say it, its still here for information. and its being used for that.
  23. LCFD968, I understand what you are saying, but at the same time this site is here to be an informational guidance to those who are looking to get into emergency services and for those that are in emergency services to address situations in each others agency, department, and community. We are here to help everyone out. Remember regardless of what goes on this site and its members are a brother/sister hood when one struggles we all struggle. And Seth does need our help!!! As much as some people don't like the add space it's gotta be on there for a reason, because he needs those adds to help with the expenise of running a site like this. Who knows maybe one day we won't have to worry about this any more, but now we do.
