really!!!!!!! volunteers dont care about ems??? my i ask what u are smoking??? maybe u need to open ur eyes and see that some of us on here are volunteer's. especially me!!! as for being well trained it depends on the emt and how much they want to expand their knowledge. if they dont want to expand their knowledge then thats their problem. we are here for the pts and their families. pt care should be all of our number 1 priorities. and i have no issue telling u that i feel disrepected by u saying that volunteers dont care about ems. i have 15 people here in cortlandt vac that would be pissed off to see u say that.

anyone who calls u demanding hasn't worked with you on many calls. ur one of the best medics out there!!! I recently took the emt class and recived my emt-b. i felt very parpared for the street. the only thing that i wish the class would take more time on is the PCRs. these are the one thing i keep having trouble filling out. im still in the middle of being precited to ride as an emt and i must say its not about the calls for being cleared. it comes down to how i do pt care. i think a some instrustors beat ALS into some of their students. many of us have dual response with ALS and most of the time ALS gets there before we do and has already made the decsion if the call is ALS or BLS. if its ALS us as emts dont have the time to do their BLS skills and just listen to the medics. to those who have BLS calls we need to focous on the pt and not on the pcr the pcr gets written when we drop the pt off at the ER. it drives me nuts to see that happen. focus on ur pt not that pcr!

i see ur in putnam so im guessing u would give a ring to one of the local farmers out in PV or in another town to give u a hand? would u even consider asking for a rep from muscoot farm to come to the scene to give u a had depending on what part of putnam u are from??
-
what agencies around this area would u call... maybe go outside and call in someone from muscoot farm in somers to help with the handling of these animals?? (the living ones)

im gonna use myself as an example becuase i agree with what u are sayin. and i think u are bringing up a good point. ive been in EMS for about 8 years now. 5 of which i was an attendent for an ambulance corp. and had NO drive what so ever to take the EMT class. It wasnt until 2 years ago when my wonderful cousin asked me how come i didnt want to take the class. i explained to him my situation and he said grow up and get over it. (thanks pat) now here i am a newly certified EMT and have been taking a ton of classes on how to make myself a better. as for the question at hand. yes a VAC officer (line officer) should be an EMT or an EMT-I or even a Paramedic.
-
dinosaur, your right maybe i didnt think about what i was typing down.
-
chief im sorry but who are u to say that people shouldnt be taking a class??? reguardless if they showed up or not...atleast they had the oppertunity to take the trainning...how they did in the class idk i wasnt there.
-
why is it when things dont go the way you have hoped they would u bring up the fact that volunteer departments go to parades?? i mean really its getting old and tired of the abuse as a volunteer firefighter who goes to parades is getting. this isnt a perfect world and nobody is perfect. everytime i come on this site i see what u post and to be honest some of it makes me sick. stop treating us (the volunteers who do firefighting for free) a hard time. remember no matter how u look at it and how u say it we are ALL DOING THE SAME JOB!!!!! FIGHTING FIRES!!!!!!!!!!! just my feelings
-
yes the fire was contained to the outside deck of the house...the 2nd LT first went up with a water can until he relized how bad it was...then he asked for a line to be streched to where he was on the deck...there was several interior members there that did go in to check if there was extentsion into the house where there wasnt...that was the only time members entered the house
-
even for exterior operations??? which is where the fire was
-
they go to the intersection of lower washington and lower montrose st rd.
-
if u listened to the whole thing u would of known that there was an alarm prior to this incident happeneing in which the first due engine was at. U-12 DOES have interior members on it and are always at our disposal if we need them. idk about the fast team not my job to worry about that yet. the VAFD is a great resource however they do have a campus they need to protect. and the way the fast team assigements are broken down is croton has from Amberlands to the VA, the city of peekskill has from Dutch St. to The high school with everything in between. mohegan has from Lower Montrose station Rd to the Furnace dock Rd. and everthing in between. please if u have ANY questions feel free to PM me
