  1. Well if thats true about No. Westchester, I guess they better get used to alot more patients coming from up north, unless Putnam Hospital gets approval as well. I know they get pretty snippy as it is when we come down that way now..
  2. Thanks Ed, I know I can always count on you to send me in the right direction..

  4. Well good luck grumpy, Im sure Patterson Fd will be glad to have you, especially for EMS during the day. Guess I will get to meet you one day since I work out of that station. As far as Schools Carmel are fairly good. If you have any kids the grammer school will be Matthew Patterson, the middle school will be George Fischer, and the High School will be Carmel. As far as shopping and stuff, you will pretty much find everything between the center on 311 and 22, and just North on 22 there is a lot of stuff just over the line in dutchess. Plus A&P and Mobil are open 24hrs.... Good Luck again and refresh on your DRAFTING/TANKER skills..lol
  5. Dont let those few "members" get to you. Youre doing a great job Moderating this site. Those few "members" that are complaining about the pictures are probably the same ones that give you and us all the other trouble as well. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MR. BRAVO...
  6. West Harrison TL-9 is prepiped.
  7. Westchester already has a: Cause and Origin Team Hazmat Team Why cant they do something along those lines for a Technical Rescue Team.. Seems like a simple solution.
  8. AHHHHHHH The Plaza my favorite place to visit at 4am... What they need there is an EMT/Security guard that is AED equipped.
  9. Speaking for myself as a ALS provider both in Westchester and in Putnam, I have all the respect for the EMTS and other members of the EMS crews that come out day in and day out. What I dont like is the same as WAS said, that some of them are ALS reliant, god knows I have been trying to help them not be ALS reliant. But I think th only way that will happen is when MEdics are stopped being dispatched on every single call no matter what it is for.

  15. If I am not mistaken back in the early days when "60 Control" was located in the Pelham area, they started numbering the apparatus 1,2,3 etc.. Thats why you see the lower numbers in the lower part of the County, and they just continued going upwards. This is how it was explained to me years ago, dont know if it is 100% true.

  17. I know here in Putnam there is "Standard" training requirements, County Wide, to become an Interior Firefighter, as well as an Officer. Most are in addition to what a department requires as well. Dont know if its the perfect system or set up but it seems to work well... check them out at http://www.pcbes.org
  18. I think if Westchester adopted a radio plan like Putnam and Dutchess has, I bet half of the problems would be solved. It works very well in these two counties and I cannot see why it wouldnt work in Westchester with all the low band frequencies allotted to them. IE: 46.260 DISPATCH ONLY 46.140 Responding,On location, Updates...etc ( or any way you want to configure it) Then you can assign the other channels as firegrounds. I know there are all those other frequencies out there for firegrounds, but most arent being utilized because of money or pride issues. The frequencies are there already, just someone at WC-DES have the guts to make the changes to improve the communication problems in Westchester. Most every department has more then one if not all of the low band frequencies in there radios as it is. Another problem that can cut radio traffic down, is why does every piece of apparatus, and every chief have to go 10-8 or 10-40 or whatever. Whoever the Incident Commander on the scene is just needs to make one transmission to 60 Control and say : example dept only- 2501 to 60 Control, all West Harrison Units are back in service and returning. Thats it end of story..no one else needs to say it ( no offense Vito just using WHFD as an example)
  19. Our IC will appoint a department officer or member or an officer from a mutual aid department as the "water source or supply officer"
  20. I know we dont have a formal critique after incidents, maybe you could call it an informal one. I have been involved in a few of them over the years and think they are an excellent learning and teaching tool. MAybe this is something that not just I but other members of departments make a mention to there Chiefs and officers. The bunch that I have been involved with we all learned what good things that we did, some of the mistakes that were made, and though not intended got a good laugh at some of the pictures that were taken. How can reviewing what actually went on not be a good teaching and learning tool.
  21. truck 51 hope that was a typo... but it might help you that the frequencies are 46.380 and 46.440.. that crossband frequency works ok if your on the west side of Putnam but dosent work for crap on the east side. Dont know what more you can do to listen except maybe park at 112 Old Route 6 in Carmel..lol sorry...............
  22. Does anyone know how someone, like me, can get the software and cables needed to program the Minitor III and Minitor IV pagers?I mean is it possible, because I know its out there??? I am also looking for a listing for the tone reeds and such for said pagers. If you like PM me or answer here.. Thanks
  23. I have read in alot of different threads how many members of this Network feel about Medics being dispatched on every EMS call, no matter what the call is for. It seems to me that since the State has mandated that an EMT be on every ambulance, many agencies are utilizing the " medic" to fill the EMT spot due to lack of personnel, or a delay in response times so they can roll the ambulance. I agree with many of you that it is absolutley ridiculus to send a medic for a " low priority call", and yes I know some people will argue that sometimes the caller gives bad information or the dispatcher wasnt sure so then send the medic anyways. Its such a waste of resources to commit a medic to a finger laceration that occured 4 days ago(just an example) and the person now wants to go to the hospital, and then the AMI comes in right next to your station but your unavailable. Yes some people will say that oh the higher priority came in so you have to redirect, meanwhile the ambulance that is going to the finger cut has no EMT except the Medic that is still on there way. But people who make these decisions dont see the problem here. I guess, god forbid, when something happens to someone close to them then they will open up there eyes. Unfourtanetly this is how things get changed. Things will not change until the Chiefs, and Captains of most agencies light a fire under there personnel and the politicians, and these politicians wake up and realize whats going on. Well maybe not the politicians but maybe the Commissioners or Directors, or whatever you want to call them. Dont get me wrong here I am not against any EMT, or Department, or Dispatcher... I am against the way certain systems are run and the lack of committment that the powers to be have with the way that some systems are run.
