  10. For anyone working in Putnam or Northern Westchester Alamo EMS has finally put 2 new Fly Cars down in Putnam County. They have been running around for a couple of months now. MUCH MUCH MUCH better then what was down here. I will try to get the pictures that I have out to the site ](*,) .. Putnam Medic 3 (aka alamo 75 ) is a 2003 Ford Explorer, with a Whelen Light Package. Motorola Radios( UHF, VHF Hi & Lo ). Putnam Medic 4 ( aka alamo 73) is a 2004 Ford Explorer also with a Whelen Light Package, and Motorola Radios.
  11. Well you dont have to worry about any type of console or storage in the back, all the equipment is just in there behind a dog cage. So far they handle pretty good, but we havent had that much snow yet to test them out. The Durango that used to be in Medic 4 and is now in Medic 1 rode great in the snow as long as it had good tires, but mechanicall y it was and still is a nightmare. I think it handled well in the snow because it had the storage unit in the back, but they have since taken out that out to lighten the weight of the vehicle. Personally I am a Ford man who loves his Expedition, but I would rather have a newer Tahoe then an Explorer for a fly car. But at least these are newer and in better shape then what we had.
  12. We are very big on accountability in Lake Carmel. It starts the moment you get on the truck until the moment we are back at the firehouse. Our officers are very strict about following the accountability. For the most part you cant even be on the first due apparatus without having been issued an interior tag. The County has Standardized the accountability tags. The Chief of a department has to sign off that you have recieved the standard training before an interior tag is issued to you.
  13. I bet they never factored in the length of downtime of patients in hospital or out of hospital.

  19. Front of West Harrisons Tower Ladder " Pride is our Pay"
  20. How About : The Stouffers Inn Fire ( i think 1980 ) The Propane Truck Explosion on I-287 The Apartment Fire in White Plains at the corner of Lexington & Maple, where the WPFD FF was killed. Please forgive me for not remembering his name, it was a while ago.
  21. Cant blame the KME rep for the terrain, they were great with us when they deliverd both pieces of apparatus ( eng and TL ), and when the TL got damaged.
  22. Cant comment on that....You can PM me and hear why
  23. Good Luck with the new Tower Ladder. If I could offer a word of caution though if you have any steep hills, the rear of the truck likes to bottom out. I know they have changed some of the design issues in regards to this, but I would still be cautious. Trust me from personal experience... the chief wasnt happy..
  24. I know in Lake Carmel we dont send apparatus to an EMS call unless extra help is needed, or the incident is on the Highway. For ALL PIAA's you get apparatus dispatched as well. I think this holds true for most if not all of Putnam County. I work in a system in Westchester where you do get apparatus dispatched to every EMS call, it is nice to have the extra set of hands on the scene with you. The only problem that we have ever run into is where they leave the apparatus. Sometimes they block the street and sometimes they block the residence that your going to. But, I have also known PD's that have done that as well. In both cases it has been few and far in between, and a great working realtionship has been developed among all departments involved.
  25. I wonder if the paint scheme should match 17-7-2
