  2. Best Of Luck to this Guy !!! He's got a ton of heart
  3. As far as the article goes, This guy was involved in 3 lawsuits that the article mentions, 2 EEOC lawsuits at work and the one against the church. The fact that the majority of people go through life haveing never filed ANY lawsuits, the fact that this guys has 3 makes me think that there may be more to this, he may be the problem. If he was molested by a priest, fine, give him his due from the church. As far as breaking balls over that, if it is true and he was molested then breaking his balls over it may cross the line but it could also be possible that the guys at work knew more of the story and were breaking his balls over the fact that maybe it wasn't all true. I've been on the job 14 years now and have taken my share of getting my stones broke but as I told the new guys that I trained over the summer, EVERYONE takes their turn on the wheel, this week you did or said something stupid to get f***** with and next week someone else with do or say something twice as dumb as you and it will take the heat off you and people will forget. The Emergency services IS NOT the place to work if you are not thick skinned !!! Cops do all kinds of crazy s*** to each other, but it is all in good fun. Ball breaking also has it's place among the men when it comes to correcting each others behavior. If somebody is doing something wrong on a consistent basis, and everyone breaks his balls over it, it's a way to let them know that they are f****** up and need to correct whatever the problem is. Ball Breaking is also a form of acceptance. When a new guy comes into a command and nobody talks to him, he knows that he has finally been accepted when guys start breaking his balls but when a guy comes in and nobody talks to him or deals with him in any way then he has not been accepted by the guys.
  4. there is no doubt in my mind that if there were no cameras there, this side show would have never have happened. The family and the other " concerned citizens" saw their chance to be on TV and they took it. If the residents of Newburgh got this angry when they have to walk their kids past people dealing drugs, have to have their kids watch TV on the floor so they don't get hit by a stray round, etc ... then maybe newburgh would be livable but alas, they only get angry when the cops do their jobs, it shows where the priority lies. As I have said to residents in south Yonkers in the past, you want to get angry at these cops but the cops that work here don't live here and they put their lives on the line every day to make YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD livable. If you could police yourselves then we wouldn't have to be here so in essence it is the people who don't want us around the most who cause us to be in the neighborhood. Kind of ironic.....
  5. AS soon as this shooting came out in the news I was sure that the family involved would follow the " skell shot by police " handbook. These guidelines include : 1. no matter what you thought about the victim, go to the hospital, wait until you see someone with a news camera and then flop on the floor like a fish crying like the victim was your best friend. 2. Make threats toward the police that you will get them for shooting your friend, etc... 3. call for a special prosecutor 4. get t- shirts made with the perps face on it and some catchy slogan like " rest in peace my dude, see you when i get there." 5. no matter how old the perp was, release his communion photo or the picture from his first day of 1st grade to the media and tell them how he was a good person and was ABOUT to get his life back together and go back to school etc... oh i almost forgot, and tell them that he was an aspiring rapper that was about to be signed 6. get a 40 oz. beer box, cut it in half, light candles , put them in the box, put half full 40 oz. beers on the sidewalk around the box for effect. 7. No matter how much of a criminal your family member was, deny it even in the face of overwhelming evidence. 8. when the grand jury returns a decision of No True Bill against the police officers and they are cleared of any wrong doing, repeat flopping on the floor like a fish, then hire some slick attorney that will tell the media that you knew from the begining that you couldn't get a fair and impartial investigation. 9. file a lawsuit against the officers and the city of newburgh. If I missed any please feel free to add to this list. This list is obviously an attempt to make a little light of my frustration with the situation. I'm frustrated wih the fact that everything cops do is wrong to society, WE CAN'T WIN. I'm tired of nobody standing up to these families and saying " It was your family membes fault that this happened not the cops, end of story." God Bless my brothers from the Newburgh P.D. They did what they had to do the other night in the face of a deadly threat. The fault for this shooting lies completely with the perp, he shouldn't have committed a crime in the first place, second if he had a warrant ( that he obviously knew about because he ran) then he should have turned himself in. Third, if a team of cops approach you, don't run and fourth, when you are cornered by the cops, don't produce a knife and charge at them. Those are 4 ways this perp could have saved his own life but instead of looking at it rationally, his family would rather blame the cops. I watched that side show that was supposed to be a press conference. Having a public press conference was a mistake, if the chief wanted to give info to the media then you do that, not invite all of liberty street. If he wanted to meet with the family then he should have done it privatly not in a public forum. Sorry for the long post guys, some things just get to me.
  6. I'm pretty sure the subject of securing your vehicles has been talked about before but this is a very interesting story that ends in tragedy. http://www.islandpacket.com/2012/02/24/1976356/reports-fire-truck-in-port-royal.html
  7. I am incredibly angry at the facts of this savage attack against PC Rathband and I am overwhelmingly saddened at the facts surrounding PC Rathbands tragic death. We have seen so many police suicides recently and they are ALL preventable. As PC Rathband's brother Darren tweeted to him in the days before his suicide, " Asking 4 help doesn't make you less of a man." Please brothers and sisters, reach out, ask for help, you don't have to suffer alone..... It's so important that the rest of us pay attention to any signs that our coworkers may be sending out. God Bless you PC Rathband, you are gone but never forgotten
  8. this is our tax dollars at work... what a friggen joke
  9. This was also posted in the employment opportunities section of American Police Beat
  10. There is no way the flag should be lowered for this junkie. While I was working yesterday I passed the Brooks funeral home which is off of Warburton Avenue and there was black and purple bunting hanging over the front door for whitney houston. I sighed, shook my head in disbelief and kept driving. Purple bunting for a crack head, unreal
  11. I hate the liberal media. With that being said, there were some points in the article that seemed to be vaguely not anti-cop ( I won't go as far as to say pro cop.) If you watch the video, you can see where the guy that was tasered continued to refuse the orders that the officer was giving him. The subject of the story with the DWI did his best to make himself the victim but he wasn't. The real victims are the PSNY. This jackass took the chance of driving drunk knowning that he could have killed someone and then when he's stopped and doesn't follow the officers orders and gets tased, he complains ? Grow up dude, take your punishment like a man. I love the ploy for sympathy picture with the kid laying on the guys gut... typical liberal media bu**shi*
  12. I much rather see my tax money spent on an awesome commercial like this rather than see it being spent on failed social service initiatives that just throw tax dollars at problems and don't actually attack the cause of the problem.
  13. I found this on the Greenwood Lake FD's website and thought it was a great concept and pretty cool looking also. http://www.glfd.us/mediagallery/apps-m622/index.html If this topic has been posted and discussed before I apologize for the duplication of posts but I have never seen something like this and thought it was worth posting.
  14. The problems with prosecution are Liberal judges, elected DA's who are more concerned with their prescious conviction rate than with actually putting criminals in jail and the biggest problem of all is PLEA BARGAINS. The problem isn't the cops, we know how to do our jobs and gather what we need from an arrest and for prosecution but all too often we aren't supported on the prosecution level. The other problem is s**tbag defense attorneys that will defend the scum of the earth for a few bucks. I understand that everyone is entitled to be represented but when there is overwhelming evidence of guilt, to try to keep that person out of jail is not helping anyone except the perp.
  15. I found this article on lohud today. This guy sounds like a real loon or just has a serious case of the "wannabes" whatever it is, people like this that impersonate cops not only pose a serious threat to people but they undermine police - community relations that are usually paper thin to begin with. The article details that he has a history of this but of course the courts have failed to take serious issue with his behavior. http://www.lohud.com/article/20120131/NEWS03/301300085/Bounty-hunter-faces-gun-charge?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Frontpage
  16. Sounds like a good heads up play on your part, better to be safe then sorry. God Forbid these clowns did something stupid, the first question people would ask is where did they get the equipment from. I love when you ask for ID and the person begins the 3 - 5 minute wallet search for the ID that they will never produce.
  17. I would assume, based on his felony conviction in California that he wouldn't be able to obtain a bail enforcement agent license in new york and he definitly wouldn't be allowed to purchase a weapon here. Below is the link to the New York State Division of Licensing that covers Bail Enforcement. http://www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/bailagent/bailagent.html
  18. 40 years ago today New York City Police Officers Rocco Laurie and Gregory Foster were walking a foot post at Avenue B and E. 11th street in Manhattan. Without warning, 4 cowardly members of the BLA ambushed them from behind and shot both officers multiple times in the back. After these officers fell, these animals stood over the officers and continued to shoot. These officers were both marines who had served in Vietnam and wanted to continue their service as NYPD officers. Today we honor these brave officers for their service and sacrafice. These Officers may be gone but they will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace My Brothers. NEVER FORGET, NEVER FORGIVE
  19. TMC

Whenever I am off duty and happen to be driving on the highways and I see that needs to be called in, I always grab a mile marker to give them when I call. It makes it easier for everyone involved and if you have ever listened to the thruway authority and the thruway troopers on the radio, 99 % of the calls begin with the roadway, mile marker, and direction. I called the TMC a few weeks ago and the call taker asked me more questions than were on the last sergeants test but it is what it is, if that's their protocol then so be it, I have no problem with it.

  21. This is an interesting read on the increasing drug / cartel problems in the south west. The report says that the mexican cartels are increasing their violence against U.S. Law Enforcement Officers in an effort to disrupt enforcement operation. This is all happening while the obama administration is cutting the number of national guard troops in the border to just 300. That 300 total for california, new mexico, arizona and texas. http://www.justice.gov/ndic/dmas/Arizona_DMA-2011%28U%29.pdf
  22. I found this story today and it made me think about how much of a serious problem prescription drugs have become. This woman was drunk and taking prescription meds and going 100 mph in the wrong direction. Unfortunatly Westchester County is all too familiar with this type of incident and the catastrophic and tragic outcome that it can have. It's almost a daily occurance that I stop people that have a pocket full of vicodin or some other form of oxy or hydrocodone or even some type of psych meds. The people that we stop and arrest don't see anything wrong with it because they are "prescription drugs", the problem is that the pills aren't their prescription drugs to be in possession of. "They are just holding them for a friend " or the ever popular "these aren't my pants" defense. There have been countless drug store robberies across the country with people stealing pain killers including the savage massacre on long island. More recently we lost a brave member of the service because some junkie wanted to hold up a pharmacy to steal pain pills. We charge drug possession and in some cases criminal diversion but the cases seem to get lost in the system and plead out with no real consequence to the offenders. I believe some of the problem is with the doctors who over prescribe pain killers and some of it with weak and ineffective laws and prosection. I believe a lot of the problem is perception. People think that just because it's a pill and it comes from the pharmacy that it's not a "real" drug or a street drug, but i see pills more than crack these days and there is no end in sight. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/12/woman-drives-wrong-way-on-highway_n_1202516.html?ref=crime&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D127272 http://seattle.cbslocal.com/2012/01/12/cops-drunk-woman-drives-17-miles-wrong-way-on-interstate-going-100-mph/
  23. I had a call to that house once around 2002 and there was a family living there at the time and the house was in a state of disrepair. Last spring my unit had the occasion to search this now vacant house and the large garage that is next to it. The house was in dangerous disrepair but you could tell that in it's time it was a beautiful home. If I remember correctly the home used to be used as a convent for the nuns who were assigned to the former Elizabeth Seton College on North Broadway. There was even remnants of a garden in the back and side of the house with stone benches that once graced the property. The garage was a large building with at least one and maybe 2 levels that went below the ground and I believe one or 2 levels above ground. I haven't seen any pictures yet of this building yet to see if it too was involved in the fire. Thankfully there were no serious injuries and the brush fires were put out before they were able to endanger any other structures.
  24. I agree that people " allow " funding for the emergency services to be cut partially due to the " It won't ever happen to me " school of thought. We all know that thinking that way is a recipe for disaster. So on the side of the chopper underneath where it says Sheriff will there be a large logo of the sponsoring business ? I can hear it now - " This is air 1 sponsored by rice a roni the san francisco treat and we are responding to you perp search" Incidentaly I happen to love rice a roni
  25. That sounds like a guarenteed uniform change after that one !!!!!
