I think it's time for the white plains PD to take a step back and not rush to scenes, the next time mamaroneck avenue erupts in fights at 3am, let it go for awhile because the democratic majority on the common council doesnt think your worth an extra raise, so why should you rush into a melee and get hurt, it's not worth it. It's sad to think that the common council is so arrogant to think that redevelopment in white plains can continue without the support of the police... Stay strong brothers

The mayor is sugar coating the effect this will have on the city, these cuts WILL be devastating !!!

this is the same situation as we see in yonkers with civilian complaints, the number of complaints in contrast to the number of arrest and the number of citizen contacts is less than 1 percent, just like this article, it's a minute number of complaints in regards to the number of patients treated and transported. They are all looking for a payday and with bottom feeders like jonathan lovitt practicing law they will be able to file their law suits unfortunately.

the brewster PD is a work in progress and Pat is a great addition, we have to trust that the leaders up there know what they are doing. My thought is that any police protection no matter how many hours it is are better than nothing

The cop and the dog are retired from Yonkers, Pat is a great guy and was a great K-9 cop in Yonkers and i'm sure him and his dog will do the same great job up in Brewster, good luck and stay safe brother !!

In regards to the above comment, i think you should leave the policing to the police, in 10 years I have heard everything you could think of as an excuse, the driver will lie and the passengers will swear to it. From that small media slanted clip you were able to say that he put their lives in danger ?? If thats the case you shouldn't be a fireman you should be a psychic

the idea behind the law is a good one but it would be too time consuming to enforce.....

I applaud him for taking this step, I bet you wouldnt find many officials that would turn down a raise.... He is a true public servant, looking out for the best interest of the people ... Tasers are a great Law Enforcement tool... One of the problems is that in many departments you have old school bosses making the policies and they tend to not be forward thinking. I say issue tasers to all cops, anything that can keep us safer shold be any departments main concern

I say good for the cop, stand tall brother, these smal town part time justices know the law just as much as a westchester community college student does, not too much.... there is no public official clause in the VTL... if you get a ticket as mayor, pay it, admit that you were wrong... badmouthing the PD will only get you a higher crime rate and an unhappy population

the FBI has done studies that say when you lose sight of a perp they are no more than 15 feet from the place you last saw them. Of course this isn't an exact science but it has proven true many times throughout my career
