I think that it would be a good training tool as well as just plain fun. you can make mistakes without putting real peoples lives in danger. Of course no subsitute for the real thing but at least get your head thinking of the big picture.

Am i mistaken but don't 16-17 years old not have drivers licsences yet at that age? they can't drive at night or something? i heard they changed the whole driving permit schedule and since i am 26 and not in high school i don;t have the details. these kids cant respond to fires in a car if they cant drive. also older guys have jobs, we cant all jsut drop what were doing so we can take a class in the summer, kids can, so give their class around school schedule.

I think this is a fine line to be walked. on one hand guys left cause they just could not handle the mental stresses of what they saw. on the other hand there were guys who left cause they racked up lots of OT. i think that if the guys "retired" then they are out. they could have taken a leave of absence or something. i'm not sure if they have that but if you are RETIRING then you don't plan on coming back. thats what it is. it is that simple. now i agree that there is a ocean of knowledge that cant be taught in a classroom or in a smoke house that was lost. but i think that if they want back, take the tests. there were alot of guys who waited on many lists for some openings, crapped happened and some opened up. Some guys retire and they get their call to the academy. it was a decsion to leave. no one asked them to quit. they weighed their options and made the decsion to go. I am sure that i have pissed everyone off by now and am gonna get off my little soap box before i get hit with a tomato

I have flown Song to FL a few times and i like the fact that they put those little TV's in the head rest of the seats. you can play trivia games against everyone else in the plane who wants to play. it is really fun. Also a friend of mine designed the entire airlines uniforms, from ground crew to flight crew. i they don't really offer any food but for a short haul flight to FL or somewhere close they are the way to go

Ok so these smart @ss kids come in and are talking crap about the older guys on internet forums and some how think they are important? i think these kids should be taken out back and be shown what the business end of a deck gun feels like. Hey junior learn to respect the guys who came before you. respect anyone older then you. I am sure they are refering to the 30 something year old "dinosaurs", right? I know in our department we have guys who been there 50 years. now when he talks, you shut up and listen cause he earned that level of respect. these kids are like alot of kids today. Think they know it all. i am only 26 and i know enough to respct the elders in the department and in the community. Kick the kids out and make the minimum age 21 to join. at the least you get some guys with some sense between the ears.

Even for those guys, i think that they don't carry all that alone. i mean think about it, could anyone climb a ladder with both hands full plus a saw and some rope? I think that it is just showing that we do have alot of weight to move around and get to where it has to go. I am looking at it solely on the way the general public would see it. I am sure the FDNY rescue company's can pull that kinda weight but not on every job. if there are any city guys who have worked with them, please give your POV on the subject.

no clue why. but it was a great day of paintball. had alot of fun. most of the walk ons were all good players to play with. not like some nuts who show up and act like a bunch of jack@$$'s. Weather was nice, some coud cover so no to hot. Light drizzle during one game which was kinda cool. hopefully get more people next time and i can plan ahead.

I think that the visual is misleading. for example the roof guy is not going to climb to the roof carrying all of that at once. he has 2 hand tools, a saw, and some rope. i think it would be more like he has the saw and a halligan and his partner will have the rope and the hook. we know thats how it works but to the everyday people, they will think they carry all this stuff each.

Don't quote me but i think you need to have a hose line outside as a safety. it can be hooked up to the hydrent and just laid out with a guys or too maning it. we used the burn house last week and they said we had to have a line off something other then the engine (new rule i guess). so i am guessing they could heat the building up but shut the flame off when your guys enter the room. :-k
