  1. Here are the Lighting and Siren Specifications that a Virginia Fire Department has layed out for there New 2007 Seagrave Ladder Truck: The warning package will include a Powercall Siren, Federal Q2B, Dual Mars 888 Warning Lights and a RotoRay Warning Light System. Now having both the Mars 888's and the Roto Ray is very impressive.
  2. Will Larchmont FD use a similar specification requirement as both New Rochelle FD and Yonkers FD used for their Engine 22 and Squad 11 requirement respectfully?
  3. Last evening I happened to come across Discovery's Health Channel's "The Critical Hour" Series. In this episode, which focused on Toronto, Canada's Leading Trama Center, the episode centered on 'Teaching" young Teens on the realities of Trama and the effect it has on lives. What was shown was a class of 9th Grade Students touring this Major Trama Center's Emergency Facility, with the Director of Trama walking them thru every step that is taken during a real trama senerio. A classroom setting is also set up, showing them a film and real photos of actual trama victims being worked on. Finally, the students actually had the opportunity to personall visit some trama victims, some which were of the same or similar age, and what they are all going thru to rehabilitate themselves, just to have a realitively normal life again. It's kind of a "Scared Straight" version in the health care environment. I was wondering if WCMC had any programs like this for some of the Middle School and Young High School Age Students in Westchester County, in order (as the Trama Unit Director said in this episode) to help "prevent" some of the trama that they see day in and day out. Does anyone know if WCMC or any other Trama facility in the area has a similiar program?
  4. You've got to love that Roto Ray on the Front Grill. You would have to be blind not to be able to see this Great Looking New Rig coming !!!
  5. In that book, how far back are the Photos from the Yonkers Fire Department? Are they recent, or do they date back to the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's?

  7. Hey Hudson, can you ellaborate on what you mean that "its coming back" ???? - Those were the days that a Rescue Rig was truly a "RESCUE RIG" !!! (that Mack C puts the Old Ford Rescue (now the Field Unit) to shame.
  8. With the start of the new year of 2007, a number of EMTBravo Members are aniticipating the upcoming deliveries of 3 New ALF Eagles to the Yonkers, replacing the current Engine Companies 307, 310, and 312, as well as the New ALF Eagle Heavy Duty "Tandem Axel" Rescue 1, and the 3 New Smeal Rear Mount Ladder Trucks to replace Ladder Company 70, 74 and 73. I know that Yonkers FD spec's out all of their rigs to fit the model used for the City of Yonkers, but just thinking about what would set the "New YFD ALF Rescue One" from all of the other rigs, not only in Yonkers but from the rest in the county, would be to have Campbell Supply install a "ROTO RAY" on the Front Bumper, just below the Front Grill, to accent this unit and to complement the other warning lights already spec'd out on this rig. Could you imagine the New YFD Tandem Axel ALF Eagle Heavy Duty Rescue responding to a call in Yonkers, with a Roto Ray in operation on the front of this rig. WOW !! Any thoughts on this? On a side note, I am led to believe that YFD wants to have its front-line department rigs to be all 2000 and Older, but I can't understand why you would want to replace Ladder 73 right now, given that it is only 4 years old (along with Ladder 72) and both appear to be in very good condition for 2002 Rear-Mount Smeals. Does other departments in highly Urban Areas such as New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, White Plains, Newburgh, Stamford, etc, change out their Ladder Company Apparatus every 4 years? (or maybe there is something wrong with the Current Ladder 73, thus forcing it to back up (Spare or Reserve) status? Does anyone have any insight on this?
  9. Now, that is a sharp looking ALF Eagle Tower Ladder. I like the Plum Color of the Rig. Also, the Emergency Lighting package that has been chosen for this New Tower Ladder, along with the Roto Ray in the front of the rig, will certainly make this apparatus "Very Noticeable" when it is on a run. I wish that the New Yonkers Rescue ALF Eagle would be fitted with the same Emergency Lighting Package as this one (including the Roto-Ray)
  10. Is that '52 ALF Ladder the one that was sent down to Textron to be refurbed? (The one that was behind Station 10 for awhile?) or is this something else? (and if something else, what happened to the ALF that was sent to Textron?).
  11. That's wonderful news that YFD will honor the Old Mack CF 306, by taking it out of service to be used for parades, services, etc. With that, has Yonkers made any plans yet to renumber their spares and reserves, or are they still going to wait until the 3 New ALF Eagle Pumpers, 3 New Smeal Sticks and the New ALF Eagle Tandem Axel Rescue Rig arives? Are they going to replace Spare 301 and 302 (with what Former Units) and Reserve 305, 316 amd 317 with what former units? Finally, obviously the Current Rescue 1 will go into being the Spare once the New Rescue 1 arrives (what will YFD call the Spare Rescue, Rescue 2?) and what about the Spare Sticks, what will now be Spare 76 and Reserve 78 and 79? Does anyone have any insight to these reclassifications yet?
  12. Maybe the 3 New Sticks will come thru NEFEA, but I would think that the New ALF Rescue Truck will come thru Campbell Supply
  13. Albion Rhode Island Fire Departments 2002 ALF Eagle Ladder Truck "Shake, Rattle and Roll" issue has forced its Department to look into taking legal action against American LaFrance as it pertains to Ladder 20. The issues, which according to the Cheif of the Albion RI Fire District, has been looked into by officials and engineers of American LaFrance on at least 2 separate times, without relief. Apparently the rig Shakes and Rattles once the apparatus reaches speeds between 25 and 45 MPH. The Fire District is now looking into purchasing a New Pierce Arrow Ladder Truck and Pierce is willing to take the ALF Rig in as a trade in. Go the following Web Site and then click on where it says "Albion Fire Truck Video" to see for yourselfs what their complaint is all about. http://www.valleybreeze.com/ NOTICE Albion Fire District Special Taxpayers Meeting Monday, January 22, 2007 at 6:00 pm The meeting will be held in the apparatus bay Albion Fire Station 38 School Street Albion Rhode Island The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and vote to replace Ladder 20 as well as a vote to take legal action against the American LaFrance Corporation. Registered voters in the Town of Lincoln residing in the District of Albion are invited to attend. Christine A. Morrissette District Clerk District Financial Officer

  15. The Developers plans clearly calls out for a New 6 Bay YFD Headquaters, to built on the Corner of New Main Street and Neprahan Avenues, to replace the current 4 Bay YFD Headquarters on New School Street. What YFD plans on placing in these 6 Bays (other than the Current TL71, Rescue 1, Mask Services Unit and Asst Chief's Car) is anyone's guess at this time and only those within YFD would actually know.
  16. R1Smokereater - Thanks for the clarification. I figured that something mechanically might be wrong with Ladder 73. It makes sense to have a good spare in reserve. What is your thoughts on putting a ROTO RAY on the front of the New R1?
  17. Does anyone remember when the Old YFD Box Mack B Rescue Rig got the DENT in the Front Grill of the Rig? Also, if my memory serves me correctly, this rig was delivered without any Single Revolving Light on top of the rig. Then the single unit was placed on top (as seen in photo) then, if I am correct, a Light Bar was installed on this rig, before it was put out to pasture (or should I say behind Station 10) in 1976. Can anyone confirm these facts?
  18. Happy 4th Birthday to EMTBravo - It certainly has provided a tremendous amount of information, education, updates and photos for both the Professionals, Volunteers, Industry Related Members and Buffs. Seth you patience and understanding has been appreciated by all. Keep up the great job and we all look forward to many new surprises in 2007
  19. In reality, there is really NO YFD Station 15. All of the YFD Special Operations Vechicles and Apparatus (along with Reserve Engines 305, 316 and 317, along with Ladder 79) are stored at the Yonkers Ridge Hill Special Operations Training Facility, located at the Secured Old Ridge Hill Site off of the NYS Thruway. This location will be there until the Ridge Hill Site is developed as planned, to which at such time, the YFD Special Operations Training Site will need to be relocated. YFD Spare Rigs are located inside the various FD Stations throughout Yonkers (Engine 301 is at Station 12, Engine 302 is at Station 14, Ladder 76 is at Station 7, and TL 77 is at Station 3)
  20. Does anyone remember these? Abbey Richmond, A A Ambulance, and the gone but not forgotten Yonkers Volunteer Ambulance Corp, that used to run out of that Old Gas Station on Central Avenue that was given up with Central Avenue was redone back in the early 1970's as well as that Garage next to the Parking Garage across the street from the Old Yonkers General Hospital
  21. Yonkers 1961 Mack B Rescue - A True Classic that Code 3 would be very proud in producing and making available to everyone
  22. Seth Thank you for bringing it back up. We have had our differences over the years but you are a CLASS ACT and I know that everyone who is a member of this site appreciates what you do (on your own time) very very much. Everyone owes you a debt of gratitude !!!! Happy Holidays to you and yours
  23. Nice Job on the New Ro FD Video - Is Next On Your Video Production going to be either Yonkers or Mount Vernon?
  24. Here is the Article in the Yonkers Tribune that outlines the New Yonkers Fire Department 6 Bay Headquaters: Plans call for building a new 150,000-square-foot office building and a new 75,000 square-foot 150-room hotel on the corner of Nepperhan Avenue and South Broadway adjacent to the Cacace Justice Center. More than half of the space in the new office building will be occupied by the city agencies currently located in a 91,000-square-foot building at 87 Nepperhan Avenue. The latter building will be razed as part of the redevelopment plan. The existing Government Center Garage will be razed to make way for a new parking facility. Before that takes place, a new 1,470-space parking structure will be built on the southside of Nepperhan Avenue on a now vacant site adjacent to the Cacace Justice Center. The current Firehouse will be demolished and a new 50,000-square-foot, six-bay Fire Headquarters will be built adjacent to the new parking garage at the Cacace Justice Center at the corner of Nepperhan Avenue and New Main Street.
  25. Trucke and LP Fire - Thanks for the additional information. Yes, hopefully one of the members of emtbravo connected directly with the Yonkers Fire Department might be able to provide us with some insight as to the reason for having a 6 Bay New Fire Headquarters (the suggestion about adding an additional engine and/or ladder company to cover the new downtown development makes sense).
