Does anyone from Eastchester FD remember the "Bread Truck" (Or some called the "Bakery Truck") that preceeded the Brockway, as Rescue 5? (I think I remember someone locally purchasing that old Rescue 5 (The Bread Truck) and used it for his business for a period of time. Is that Bread Truck rig still around?)
-
Chris Also, why did Eastchester do away with Engine 28 as a "Front Line" Engine Company? (PS - That Brockway Rescue 5 was a "BEAST" - Man, you could hear that truck coming north on Midland Avenue from Miles Away (That Siren and Horn was LOUD !!!)

I would bet the bank that once members of the City Council read the Regionalization Plan/Report, some serious questions will be raised to the Fire Commissioner and them requiring the NRFD Fire Commissioner to provide the City Council with an immediate report on when such a plan could be put into place. "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY"

People have to start realizing that staff reductions will cost lives and New Rochelle is one of the best FD's in the State. Yes, the city could increase its head count to man Rescue 4 "full time" (today, they use the manpower from Ladder 11 to run the Rescue, when it is called upon). I think that it may be possible that members of the New Rochelle City Council are trying to wedge in the "Regionalization Project", which could be done, but it will take some time and effort to pull it off (not to count the political red tape that such a project would have to go thru). But, as everyone has read on EMTBravo.net, the Proposed Regionalization Project calls for only 1 Rescue Unit in the Southeast Corridor of Westchester County and it would be in Pelham. So, what becomes of the New NRFD Rescue 4 and FDMV's Rescue, if such a Regionalization Plan becomes reality? Until such a plan can be properly put into place, it is my opinion that the New Rochelle City Council needs to stay away from cutting from the FD and find other ways to close in on next year's budget. Again, just my opinion.

Does anyone know anything about the used Apparatus (2 Enginies, 1 Ladder) that FDMV had supposedly purchased, in order to hold them over (The 1 Ladder Truck was going to replace the current Ladder 2, and the 2 Engines were going to replace Engine 6 and Engine 5). Any information/updates/photos would be appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know who were the initial response units assigned to this job and if the YFD Foam Unit (if it was ready and available), and any other YFD SOD units might have been added to the initial assignment of this run as well, since I understand from reading the article in the Journal News, that Oil was part of this incident. Thank you in advance. Just heard Pelham FD toned out for a Ceiling Collapse at the Colonial School in Pelham, with possibly 2 people trapped. They have requested Rescue 4 and th Collaspe Unit from New Rochelle FD to respond on this.

Happy Birthday Joe - I think Joe has been around taking apparatus photos even as far back as when Ward LaFrance was in Elmira, NY

As part of my professional (PPE), I had the priviledge of visiting the City of Orlando Vehicle Maintenence Facility, and I will tell you that I have never seen a more Professional and Spotless Facility in the United States. You could literally "Cook your Dinner" off of the facility floors. Everything is in its place. Their Vehcile Maintenence Schedules are "Incredible". No matter if it is a Police Cruiser or Emergency Truck, a Fire Engine, Ladder Company, or Special Operations/Rescue Vehicle Unit, and Ambulance or a Refuse Collection/Street Sweeper Unit, they "routinely" have them in for Preventative Mainenence. The personnel that run this facility know more about the vechiles that they work on than the Manufacturers who build them. They are "VERY PARTICULAR" about the Manufacturer of the Vehicles that they have in their fleet (As you can see from the Photos of their Fire Department Fleet above), and they will not be shy about saying why they have chosen, are extremely loyal to, and "Stand Behnd" their Manufacturer of choice. If anyone from the EMTBravo community happens to be visiting Orlando (Disney World, etc) and have a few minutes to get away from the kids, make it a point to arrange to visit this facility and see what it is all about. It is "State of the Art" and maybe you might be able to bring back some ideas to your local departments.

My favorite is "The Unearthly" with John Carradine, Bela Lagosi, Tor Johnson (Lobo) and Vampira. PS - Remember, tonight on WPIX Channel 11 at 8 PM, they are running "CHILLER THEATRE" showing the Evil of Dr. Frankenstein. Should be a good one to watch in between innings of the Yankee Game.

315 Highbrook Avenue, Pelham (Colonial School) - Additional Tone Out for Additional Manpower. JUST ASKED FOR MOUNT VERNON FD's RESCUE and NRFD Ladder Company 12 (curious why YFD Collaspe Unit and Squad 11 isn't also asked to respond as Mutual Aide?)

Having watched the first 30 minutes of this show this evening, I have seen things that I would say is right out of "Hollywood" and would never be done, allowed, or followed in real life situations. Like a Medivac Helicopter lading on a bridge right next to the scene without a proper Landing Setup done by other firefighters or police personnel on the ground (didn't see any marked off Landing Zone during the shot). Then, when a small child has some srapenal lodged in his throat, a Male Flight Nurse on board the Medi-Vac, blantenlty disobeys the instructions of the doctor at the hospital and cuts a airway in the childs throat to clear an airway, In Flight. Also, is it standard practice to have the mother travel "in flight" on a run from the scene to the hospital? Now, the explosions and acting seem to be fine and it appears to be somewhat heart touching, but to me it looks like this show is a combination of MASH meets Emergency/Rescue 8 meets ER meets Rescue Me. What does eveyone else think of the show so far?

Actually Rescue 8 starred Jim Davis (who later on played Grandpa Ewing on "Dallas") and Lang Jefferies. I am surprised that many still remember that show. It was the fore-runner to Emergency. It was on ABC-TV from 1958 to 1960. Rescue 8 is a syndicated American action drama series about Los Angeles County Fire Department Rescue Squad Number 8. It premiered in 1958, and originally ran for two seasons with syndicated reruns continuing for almost a decade after. It starred Jim Davis (1909-1981) as fireman Wes Cameron, and Lang Jeffries (1930-1987) as fireman Skip Johnson. The series was produced by Screen Gems, with directors Dann Cahn and William Witney. A total of seventy-three half-hour episodes were produced. The real Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 8 is at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. This series showed more physically-oriented rescues than the later, similar television series Emergency!, as firemen were not trained as paramedics at the time of its production

I am sure that Commissioner Pagano, Chief Fitzpatrick and other key YFD Personnel met with the developers as it relates to the design and location of this propsed New YFD Headquarters building. Having a "6 Bay" building would lead one to believe that additional companies may be added to the existing YFD Apparatus Front Line Fleet, as it relates to the development that is being proposed as part of this New Downtown Development. Only time will tell.

Doesn't Yonkers have a Mack/Baker on loan (Tower Ladder 77) to Pelham Manor?
-
I would then presume that once the E-One TL takes over as the primary spare, the Mack Baker Spare TL will then be put out to pasture or sold (if it already hasn't)?

Any Photos yet of the New FDMV Ladder 62? When are the 2 "new" pumpers due in and does anyone know where they will be assigned to?
-
Seth - Any word yet on the 2 New Used Pumpers and the 1 Used Ladder Truck that FDMV was scheduled to get. Have they arrived and are they in service and what companies are using these new rigs? Any Photos?
