  1. I got it, it's awesome!
  2. Dang~!
  3. Way up here, my department runs Truck 9 more than anything. We have a fast team, so we end up running a lot of mutual aide. Truck 9 is an '88 Spartan 102' RM tower. To be replaced by a Pierce Quantum, which will be delivered in late 2006.
  4. I currently wear tan gear as an explorer. When I started I was issued black gear and used it once, but my new gear arrived shortly after. My new gear is tan (Pbi), and I like it better. It's much cooler than the black gear, especially when standing in the sun. The other problem with black gear is, it doesn't show dirt and ash as well as tan gear, this is very bad because you end up washing it less often. The issue with not washing gear is efficiency and health safety. Black soot absorbs heat, and therefore makes the gear you are wearing less efficient. The other problem soot covered gear is the fact that the hydrocarbons in the soot have been found to cause cancer. It's bad enough eating smoke, and getting to exposed to plenty of other things.
  5. Wow! Some great vids there! Some really good workers shot.
  6. I often refer to our pre-connected lines in the crosslay as mattydales. It's more of an old school term from what I know, but I like the sound of it. I can't really think of any others, because when and if I use them, it doesn't seem any different from the rest of what I say.
  7. God Bless Jimmy Boy. My thoughts and prayers with his family.
  8. MMU 4 is no longer at L20/D1. When R6 went in, MMU 4 came out. There is also RE523 and RL510 along with highway response 170 at that house.
  9. I like the sound of FAST better, but RIT is much more descriptive.
  10. I have not seen any photos of this, I know Ferrara had originally displayed 6 FDNY orders, but are down to 5 now.
  11. It's supposedly replacing the current Mack, but it looks much too small to do that efficiently.
  12. Hello, I am looking to upgrade from my 3.2 mega pixel sony p-32 with only digital zoom, to something with 4.5-5.2 mp's with optical zoom. I am just a teen and only have about $340. Does anyone have any reccommendations? Thanks in advance, Eli
  13. I asked around about it a bit more, I spoke with the mechanics, and some of the R&D boys at HQ. They said it's NOT going to happen, because Bennett ( Our superintendant) is old school, and not the kind of person that wants to be known for changing the color scheme. After he steps down, or retires, it's a possibility, but for now, it's not going to happen. Also, all of the new cars with roof mounted lightbars are getting the Federal Signal Vista Light bars. All slick top cars have Whelen Talon LED Deck and Dash lights. 2 Talons in the back, 1 in the front on the passenger side. They also have LED grille and mirror lights. The Arrowstick in the rear is also LED equipped.
  14. I was told when I took the photo that the truck cost a bit more than a million, and have heard from a few other sources that it was 1.2 million. It also has a built in thermal camera in the bucket, tower controls in I believe 4 locations, and XM satellite radio.
  15. Just checked, this is still up in the air. The dark blue cars are still being ordered.
  16. It's a super engine, and they also carry truck tools. I consider a squad to be between an engine and a rescue. Call it what you want.
  17. Squad 61, it's pretty simple. Just look at the truck, they also take quite a bit of work. However Squad 61 is a squad not an engine, so my pick for engine would be 82 or engine 90. Ladder would be 31 or 38.
  18. Glad to hear it! =D> Welcome Home!
  19. Wow, ~Both hands on the wheel people~

  21. Thought I would contribute some photos of the great looking rig. http://www.10-75.net/FDNY/ladder_3.htm
  22. Hazardous Materials Company 1's MACK MR/Salisbury and their Second piece the Kenworth/Pierce. Why do I like them? I guess because they are great looking and I am very fascinated by the ethyl-methyl bad stuff (hazmat)
