  1. Menands Fire and a number of other Town of Colonie departments responded to a reported structure fire around 1930 1/3/11 at 13 Sage Hill Lane, first arriving units found heavy smoke and fire. Crews made an inital attack but had to pull out because they lost water. Hydrant pressure was only about 5psi....
  2. That's about it, I will try and get the audio on youtube and post it here (it was rather interesting). Thanks for looking! Be safe!
  3. Federal FFs from the Watervliet Arsenal responded
  4. Pushing back out the D Side
  5. Still waiting on water...
  6. This was one of the first photos I shot coming into the scene on the D side, fire progresses from here...
  7. This is the case in many EMS systems... Bloomy should be impeached. Theres a lot more to being mayor than having money.
  8. Great shots, glad to see you posting!
  9. The upstate Ambulances being sent (info) is correct, Catskill, Coxsackie and Greenport sent buses early this AM, they toned out all the Rensselaer County Coordinators to send rigs last night too, not sure if anyone did.
  10. L137, L156, L81, L123, L24, L169, L32, L154, L42, L4, L165, L49, L173, L38, L29, L8, L113, L132, L11, L3 are to recieve new aerials. I was told the 10 aerials that were added to the original order were put on hold... I also didnt have L19 or the BOT aerial on my list, but it would make sense that L19 would be getting one since their rig is a 2001 Ex-BOT truck. BOT usually gets the first of the new rigs too. The first truck was slated to be delivered before Christmas, but it looks like they are just going into production if the photos posted are recent. Chris Ferrara said the pics on the site aren't always up to date but the FDNY photos usually are.
  11. Almost all of the EMS agencies in the Capitol Region of NY are unionized. I met with the contract committee for the Albany County Sheriff's Office tonight to finalize our first contract. We are the newest agency in the area (just over 10 years old) and finally unionized last year. I couldn't imagine working for a private EMS agency without a union! Maybe it's only up here that we get treated like crap in private EMS...?
  12. We dispatch fire apparatus to all accidents where personal injury takes place, the response level is determined by the EMD. If it's an unknown accident they go cold unless it sounds serious and then it's at the discretion of the call taker to upgrade the response. Different types of accidents get different apparatus, and anything on the highway gets a truck company to block traffic. Even if the fire department isn't needed to extinguish a fire, extricate a patient or mitigate a spill, they are still very useful for assisting in the movement/treatment of patients and blocking/controlling traffic. Not sending the fire department to an accident witn injuries sounds like a dangerous practice.
  13. SQ288 I think that's all for now.
