class A's were don for a funeral and we were asked to leave because we (8 of us)were volunteers.(and thats how it happened ) The question wasnt out of disrespect and whats wrong with it being answered. Maybe the moderators should just let us discuss our differences and stop with all the restrictions. I apologized to Chief Flynn for call him Flynn which was nothing more than a type O and they removed the apology that is disgusting.

The end for me too on this To all my volley brothers out there dont let a couple of bad apples get you down I know how hard we train here in westchester and I have been to many drills , classes and even mutual aid fires with most of you and and think we do an outstanding job. I have been to many classes with guys from both sides and the volleys for sure have to upper hand in many areas the one that sticks out the most is we do this for the love of it NOT FOR THE UNION , not for the money and not for the glory. We have an outstanding training center here in Westchester run by some of the top carrer guys in the county ( no Yonkers guys ???? ) and along with that training and our in house I know and seen what you guys can do and we do it with less .......... and we dont milk AFLACK .. PERKS ya I get free sweaters for my hard work in the FD , Flynn you have this knowledge why dont you teach at Westchester and help the volunteers be better if you think we are under trained or does Pagano not allow it ?? I have one serious question for you Chief and I want an honest answer. Do you have a problem with Volleys going to a service for a fallen career guy , as a volley I would love to show my respects for ANY LODD but I know first hand Pagano dont like the thought of it - how do you feel about that ? I do not want to cite a specific instance but please answer honestly only if you could.

I believe your area is covered by battalion 18. I see your agenda chief it is written all over your post you are clearly anti-volunteer and no matter how you feel or your commissioner of Yonkers feels remember 1 thing while you career guys are at work we volunteers are in the burbs protecting the property and families of said firefighters. maybe if Yonkers didnt have tunnel vision they would recognize that Westchester county is 75% volunteer and we do an outstanding job with minimum resources. i respect your hard work I do and you becoming chief is something to be proud of but we have plenty of men/women in the volley departments that work 40 hours a week and still put in a full day with their department whether training , paperwork so dont belittle their dedication. Never heard of a westchester battalion chief ??? you heard of it you just dont recognize it.

are we not held to the same standards ?? we have to take our yearly physicals and you fail anything you are removed from the rolls. In my volley dept we train 4 hours a week on drill night and sometimes more on top of our county or house training. Most members in my dept have over 250 hours of training at the Westchester Training center. We take our yearly OSHA very seriously and safety is priority. The standars are there and we follow them because we dont want to leave ourselves open to lawsuits so my question is what standards does career have over the volleys ? If I am missing something let me know I am always looking to improve my skills and that of my fellow members and I mean that im not trying to be wise . This job is inherently dangerous and it does not discriminate , it will kill you just the same volley or not , a fire in Yonkers is no different from a fire in Tarrytown and if you think differently than you have a bad case of tunnel vision. I have been trained (393 hours) by the same guys that teach the carrer academy and I trust those instructors with my life and I know they feel the same because they trained me and they do fail people or remove them if necessary . Volley or carrer we all have men or women who we feel are dangerous and we want to see retire or transfer but to say the standards are different , I need examples. I Have 5 FDNY guys that volunteer in my dept 1 is a former chief and battalion chief for westchester and all I can say about them is we train together and we share our knowledge with each other without prejudice and because of that we all work great together and KEEP EACH OTHER SAFE _ EVERYONE GOES HOME.

So a volunteer firefighter can lay their life on the line to protect the taxpayer and their property but it is said that the taxpayer might have a problem with protecting the firefighter ?? Lets face the facts the volunteers are going to support this measure and the career guys (unions) wont here in NY or CT. There are many circumstances that a individual might be sued and if the firefighter in question followed all SOP's and stil ends up being sued for whatever reason the Town , City or Village that accepts the volunteers services and insures said volunteer should represent that volunteer (legally) when needed.

I go to the County airport with my kids to watch the planed on a regular basis and out of all the times I have been there many times the County police have driven by buy NEVER once asked me what I was doing. There presence is known and thats all they can do. I am comfortable with our security but I also think we need to stop being paranoid.

So Ems abuses the lights and sirens I think they are forced to abuse it when someone dials 911 and states their illness is worse than it is Ems believes it to be life threating and its a stumped toe that is abuse, but the Police officers. How many times do I see cops especially in Yonkers put their light bars on just to pass a red light so lets look at both sides here.

did anyone relay that message to any of our local Police dept , everyone has blue in the front I DONT care what color scheme they have at all but why snub a law that is CLEAR , its about the law not the blue light in general

NO amount of moth balls or natural pesticides will stop a bedbug from hitching a ride home on you or in your bag and I mean nothing will or can stop this except carry a can of compressed air on your rig(same one used to clean computer keyboards) or use extreme heat (that you would find in clothes dryer)Bedbugs jump from host to host and are very hard to kill they can live in your matress for 1 year without eating , so if you do get them it is VERY important NOT to throw anything away without sealing it in plastic and I mean anything even a pair of underwear, remove all clothes from drawers and closets and put in the dryers for 30 minutes, in-case your mattress asap and seal zipper with duct tape , and call exterminator it will cost about $650 in services and it takes 3 visits over a 3 week period but the emotional toll is the worst thing of all. I manage several buildings take this seriously especially if you work or live in the city

nice rig but it is funny how everyone is doing more with less then we sit here and praise Yonkers for spending more money then people cry when they are asked to cut back. This is in no way an attack on the yfd personnel but couldnt you get a truck that fit the house without making the doors bigger? couldnt the rigs be used a little longer? I know my statement is unpopular but someone has to ask
