I was on a website today for another dept they happen to have progress photos of their rig in the hackney plant and in the backround there was what looked too be a spartan hackeney Rescue with roll up doors marked for Yonkers PD anyone have any info here is the link if you look at one of the pics toward the bottom you will see it in the backround New Light and Air Unit chassis arrives at Hackney. -

I think Yonkers PD already does extrication we don't have all the facts about this truck yet and what it might carry so we shouldn't pass judgement on it

Amishff It's not unprofessional to shut down the 2 southbound lanes. I think it's obvious that if you knew the Rte 9 or Saw Mill River rd area you would know how fast traffic runs by and I think Glenns towing knows what they have too do to right a tractor trailer loaded with garbage

This is a disgrace ! I have taken this test the last three times it was offered I felt it was not a discriminatory test. If anything everyone that was smart enough too pass this test should sue the vulcan's. I can honestly say I wanted that job since I was alittle kid and the last 3 exams were getting thrown out because someone can't study and follow directions. The last test I took the person sitting next too me asked for a new answer sheet because he could not follow directions and see where the answers go. Sorry too vent but everytime I hear this it get's me mad.

John listening too the video and audi from the youtube link the division asked for the Hi-ex foam unit and they said there wasnt a hi-ex foam. As far as I knew they still had one but they sent a foam task force

If you look at the back of the car with the open tailgate that is a platform that covers the radios like the other 2 expeditions in the district

It's not just volunteer ems that have response time like that also many big cities like NYC tie up an engine company with ems and they wait sometimes up to an hour for an ambulance. And it has happened with my agency which has 3 rigs we got hit with 6 calls at once and had all three rigs out the door and 3 mutual aid rigs into the dist to cover the other 3. Should people who join come out and run calls yes because that is what they sign up too do but I have noticed with alot of EMS agencies you have the same people taking calls and they do get tired out sick and go out of town. If the agencies want to stay volunteer I can see trying to find ways to retain members and out of all the calls that alot of agencies run and patient bill $10 a call is a nice insentive to get members out and keep the agency going. If you think about giving someone $10 a call as to paying an EMT/driver plus benefits and such. It's EMS as a whole that is having a problem not enough EMT's and Medics it's a problem not easily solved !

From what I heard the Mckeon Marine 1 is being replaced by the threefortythree and the Firefighter Marine 9 is being replaced by the Firefighter II . From what I heard is the hull on Marine 9's boat is not in good shape at all so I would imagine that if they keep any of the boats it would be the Mckeon maybe someone from the Marine division or FDNY can add to this or maybe Joe Pinto ?

John They can hire emt/drivers and have the fire dist take back dispatchers and we go and work there again part time I always enjoyed working there and the members everyone is great. You can admit we had an awesome time working there and had alot of laughs
