NDP EMS & NEW YORK STATE OFFICE of FIRE PREVENTION and CONTROL PRESENTS CHEMICAL SUICIDE The Office of Fire Prevention and Control has recently assisted local authorities in two communities with suicides involving chemicals. The process involves mixing common household chemicals to create hydrogen sulfide in a small space. Instructions to do this are readily available on the internet and most encourage anyone planning to use this method to provide appropriate warnings to people who might encounter or respond to their situation about the presence of the deadly gas. Our concern is that anyone who enters the space without proper protections may quickly become a victim themselves. Both recent incidents in New York involved suicides inside a vehicle. One vehicle had very clear and obvious warning signs taped to the window, the other had signs that were less noticeable laid on the dashboard. In both instances responders were able to recognize the situation and take appropriate protective actions. When: Monday May 10th – 0900 hrs – Poughkeepsie Monday May 10th – 1800 hrs – Wassaic Tuesday May 11th – 0900 hrs – Poughkeepsie Tuesday May 11th – 1800 hrs – Wassaic Where: Poughkeepsie Fire Department Public Safety Building 505 Main Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 Wassaic Fire Department 25 Firehouse Rd Wassaic, NY 12592 Call to register for one of these sessions. REGISTRATION IS A MUST! Each class is limited to 40 attendees. Call 845-876-0338 x22 Approved by HVREMS Council for 3 hours CME’s The purpose of this class is to raise awareness of first responders (police, fire and EMS agencies) to this danger. Recognize the warning signs when approaching the scene. Know what resources are needed to keep you and your crew safe.

I am a huge fan of Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. They did a great job with Part 1 last night. If this series is anything like Band of Brothers, its a home run in my book. I just ordered HBO for this.

I can only speak of the companies I have worked for. MLSS is one of the best EMS companies in the Hudson Valley...they offer alot of room for movement and great people to work with. They are a local company based in the Hudson Valley. Transcare is also a good company to work for but they are the largest company on the East Coast so you will feel more like a number. NDP EMS is a great company to work for. Our stations are located in Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and Millerton in Dutchess County. If you would like you should contact our HR...check out our web site...ndpems.com. Hope this helps you out. Good luck in coming up to the Hudson Valley. Again this is my opinion from when I worked for these companies! GL

This show was the best cop show in a long time. NBC has really lost its touch with dramas and with them moving Jay Leno to 10p from 1135pm just made me realize how bad NBC really got. Thank you TNT for picking it up!

The City of Newburgh Police, Fire and EMS are top notch and good job. Regarding CNFD response times...amazing... Keep up the good work down in the burgh!

Hope for a fast recovery...

I thought all new trucks had to have the safety stripes on the back of the fire trucks? I don’t see any of FDNY new deliveries with the stripes on the back? Any reason?
-
Thank you to all!
-
I second that...best of luck to all Alamo Employees! I hope everything goes smooth and its an easy transition for all.
-
Hey Alamo guys & gals, one of your EMT's stated that Health Quest is letting go a majority of the full timers and replacing them with Part Time / Per Diem staff just so they wouldn't have to pay benefits. Any truth to this? Again just repeating what I heard from a full time EMT at Alamo? I hope its not true!

NDP sinking ship....NDP IS NOT LAYING ANYONE OFF! So before making rumors why don't you ask. Just like the majority of commercial agencies we are accepting applications but not hiring anyone new. I guess my question is, as a CFR how many commercial agencies have you worked for?
