well it should fix and reduce the number of times a medic is sent to a BLS call. and freeing up resources for when they are truly needed. And there are alot of issues in the county, there is a nice report of them online done by a well credited group the county paid for a few years back.
-
I am glad they haven't move the date back further and are standing on it. i just hope this is the beginning to fix the issues

upon arrival found person in police custody. officer xzy badge #1234 st " he has no injuries and is in custody" no patient found.

why not. train them attach them to a tactical esu unit. then you don't have to worry that the last man/woman in the line doesn't have a weapon but has a weapon and an IV needle. I hate to say it. more and more budgets are getting cut and fire and police have been crossed trained more to keep there numbers up with ems calls. well i wish i had a cop on every call but its rare, do i think ems should have a weapon locked in the the rig in a strong box, why not. I would rather see more less lethal things like a tazer and or spray. But a knife at a gun fight never helps when PD is 30 mins out. its all over in 2 minutes.

if you look around you will find more places that blow grant money. i wonder if the people who award the grant look into if there is an actual need for them to have the grant. but just proves the pen is mighty, and you can word anything the right way in the proper hands.

Thats looks like the United States Navy Jack"DON'T TREaD ON ME"

like was967 said check with your fire department. but the least you can do is simple stuff till the ambulance shows up. (ie holding c-spine) and be careful if your the only one qualified or certified on the engine or truck. if someone else does something wrong it can fall on you if it can be proven your the only one that was certified at the time. Otherwise i would assist the ambulance crew as needed. its there patient.

its sad to seee. especially when its probably caused by a careless mistake. Groudning is key with anything to do with boats. typical marinas have gfi breakers right where the boats plug in. this being private don't know. But 9 timws out of 10 if its a fire on a boat its from improper grounding or poor house keeping in the engine room/compartment.

it would be nice to see it in the northern part of the county.

something seems really wrong with this. a rescue operation and least a good search at sea will take hours not minutes. its VERY hard to spot a liferaft at sea especially a small one from a small boat. to cancel a search and rescue op with units only on scene for less then hour seems fishy to me. The last search and rescue i was on we were assigned for a couple of hours. and we were searching for another ship... that had lifeboats. and a solar radio? i haven't seen them where they can send a signal over 17 plus miles. a vhf radio will get you to the horizon or a little better then line of site with a hand held. and a base or mobile ship based radio will get you sandy hook easly being 17 miles out at 100 watts. at 17 miles off shore it would take at least an hour for a boat to get there. depending on sea conditions, maybe 45 minutes at least. and something else interesting.. boats just don't explode. i wondering if the charter owner has reported the boat over due?

EMS Research is intresting but very very hard to do with a VAC because you have to man the ambulance and stuff 1st. maybe you can do an intership or something with Empress, Transcare or somebody. they might let you if your doing it on your dime and stuff... but its hard to tell.

WEMS fly-cars are on the trunk and one of the ALS ambulances have a trunk but only used when going into the 911 system IE medic 4 mutal aid ambulance or something like that. the transport comms has there own radios Transcare fly cars i believe operate on them but not too sure i thought they were still dispatched by mt pleasant pd. I know White plains they are on the PD frequency and only talk to PD. but when they go mutal aid or have mutal aid coming they are on truck. Empress... sorry i am not too sure about that i am sure there are people here though
-
yeah but working a fly-car system i have notice the benches aren't as wide as they used to be in the newer models. The drug bag always hits the floor. I usually don't have that problem on the PL and AEV ambulances. and for the price wise an AEV box isn't too bad. but its only for an hour or 30 minutes or so to get the call done and back in the fly-car. But center mounting seems to have become more of a standard which is nice too.

holding a jet boat stationary is dam hard from personal experence. operating a a twin screw boat stationary is so much more easier then you think. you just need to know what you are doing. a single screw isn't too hard either you just don't have the options and ability to spin around at low speeds easly. this jet boat looks like a great toy from baywatch. how can you secure someone who is on a floating stocks basket on there? looks great if you have a single fire and want to spray some water on it... but what if you had to become the water source and supply and engine? can it feed into a 5" manifold. Like someone else said give me a boston whaler. I have been in very rough weather doing rescues with them.. (jet skiers) and taking water over the gunall and still able to get back to the dock safe and sound. like i said looks like a nice toy to take out when its sunny.

This is what Westchester county needs to meet a rescue RESCUE COMPANY Valid Prefix (RES = Rescue Vehicle) A support vehicle, not designed for patient transport but contains tools for life support, extrication, emergency medical care beyond that its what the individual department defines a rescue as. I wonder what the FITCH report would be if they did fire services in westchester county.

So right now I am listen to the radio and Croton has gone third request for an EMT.. if they have only one paid EMT and he drives and no one else shows up what good is that seems like a waste of money. Why didn't they get two EMTs so that they can handle the first job coming out and then the volunteers can handle the next one? now the job went mutal aid.
-
it won't be a plane it will be a car accident in bad weather that will do it. The airport has a pretty good laid out plan for on and off property. but if anything shows us its the weather that cripples this county and combine that with a 6 car mva with 4 critical patients and 2 routine ems calls in the middle of it and it will be a big mess
-
I am sure if it got really really bad and alot of issues and paper trail was done that the VAC or department would lose there cert
-
I have heard that the REMAC and or REMSCO is going around and putting some heat on departments and VACs that can't get an ambulance out the door from the 1st tones and calling enroute.. i heard the numbers they were looking at were over 9 minutes for the VACs
-
yeah it depend on the power of the cutter.. obviously you'll need a pretty descent size cutter to cut through an I beam. On board ships we carry something a little more portable and with a bigger punch to it. Its called a PECU Portable Exothermic Cutting Unit. It very good at making a nice plunge cut into a 4 inch solid piece of steel. PECU

some departments the chief is the only one responding in the volunteer departments.. they try to cut down there response times to get on scene faster. since they take the cars home with them they don't have to go to the firehouse to pick up the truck or engine
-
they used to sign in to the RCC and Metro tech but now they don't it was a big thing about a year or two back. i know the throggs neck VAC is right next to engine 72 on East tremont and if there in station at the vac they used to come over with the EMS run sheet and we would just fallow them to the call. Otherwise people would call the VAC if they needed an ambulance and know about it vs the FDNY busses
-
instead they bought new equipment for the flycars
-
we need another medic out there during the day. it gets busy and with the fly car being left at the scene it really hurts the system alot.. it can take a medic out for up to 3 hours until they are back in the system again. yes there are days when its slow and nothing is going on. Usually medic 4 is one of the ALS transport ambulances that isn't busy running down to the city with a patient.
-
some areas its done like that, but if the agency that is actually moving the patient is usually the only one that can actually bill. IE if a flycar medic meets up with the ambulance or what not. The ambulance that moves the patient to the hospital can bill. If they get the ALS report of the patient they can further bill for the ALS that was done enroute to the hospital. But only one agency can bill the patient not two, it would be a conflict and a giant headach with medicaid and care... which well set the standard for billing in healthcare theses days. So the transporting agency would recieve the ALS payment for the transport so it could bump the bill up another 500 dollars or so to make it about 1000 or so just by ball park figures.
