So then we've spent all this time and money and we are still left with the same problem as when we started?

It seems unlikely that if someone actually deployed the military would have no record of them ever serving in the military....there must be a huge paper trail for the guys and girls deploying. I could be completely wrong, though. Very odd for sure and i hope, for everyones sake, things get hashed out quickly. Likewise, i pray this isn't a sick hoax/joke on anyones part.

Interesting article. Just to tack on to what ALS has already pointed out, you have to also remember that by design the human form is not supposed to be up all hours of the night. It's far more taxing on our bodies than your average 9-5 work day.

God Bless and rest in peace. Thank you for your selfless sacrifice for our great country.

I've had one since mid-August. It's held up to the majority of the abuse I've thrown it's way. The reception is far better, with the exception of the Route 9 Corridor in Dutchess. With the data plan and insurance, i end up paying 80 bucks a month because my Nextel plan was not available for the IC-502. The sprint network is just far superior to Nextel. Now, when i text people actually receive them the same day! As far as comparing them with Verizon. When i went to Verizon in August i really didn't see much of a price difference (in terms of monthly cost) for what i was looking for (insurance, data plan, the minutes etc.). I think both were coming in at around 75 bucks or so before taxes, and in the low 80s after. The Push to Talk and ruggedness of the Sprint/Nextel pushed them over the threshold for me.

As a few have said, its about the money. A CMN offers both the physician ordering the transport and the agency looking to get paid a paper trail. The CMNs i work with are pretty streamlined, essentially the MD has to check a box as to why an ambulance is necessary and then give a one or two sentence explanation. The real problem, as i see and understand it, is with the government subsidized programs and their decreasing payouts (which the privates usually adjust to).

This is great news! It's about time the consumer has greater choice in choosing their mobile device. It will be interesting to see if manufacturers follow suit and offer "unlocked" devices that will be able to, off the shelf, work on such networks. While i know there are more pressing matters facing our nation, it would be nice to see the government make such moves mandatory as well as do away with the 2 year contract bind that has plagued so many customers. Maybe this is the first of many steps!

Scary! Not sure who's at fault...it seems like everyone but the driver of the SUV stopped or was a stop at the intersection, at the same time it doesn't appear that the TL slowed down that much upon approach...

Good friend of mine used to live in a house with solar panels which experienced a fire that gutted the entire top floor of the home while he was living there. This occurred roughly 8 years ago, but to the best of my recollection the side of the roof w/ the panels was avoided entirely. One or two holes were cut in the roof on the opposite peek.

I saw this a while ago. One would think that they understand, at least at a basic level, the behavior of flammables and their vapors. As cold as it may sound, i can't say i really feel sorry for anyone involved.

Lenox Hill's truck is on the frazer website under the Type III section.

When i was a kid, my dad put two sheets of plywood together on horses and that was my trainscape. I always wanted to incorporate a loop around the room but we never got around to it. For scenery, my parents would buy the hobby shop grass and trees, also used dirt and sand from the backyard. All you gotta do is get some elmers spray adhesive, sprinkle that stuff down let it set for an hour or two then blow off the excess. They also sold trees and houses, etc. I think for water we used some shiny thin blue plastic that we cut however we felt. Popsicle sticks also make good fence or roof material. Best of luck.

Happy and safe thanksgiving to all.

Just for clarification, as far as Putnam County is concerned: Monday through Friday from 6am - 6p Medics 4 and 3 (covering the east side of the County) are staffed in an ambulance with a medic and EMT. If, a job drops and the respective volly agency does not get out within the alloted 3 dispatches (5-10 minutes i think) the transport is handled by the contracted ambulance. After 6pm the EMTs are off shift and the ambulance becomes a "fly ambulance." Medics 2 and 1 are still fly cars only. Philipstown ambulance staffs a full truck from 7a - 4p with its own EMTs and then with 1 EMT from 4p - 7a (staffed by their own hired EMTs). Despite this, problems still exist, as with everything.

It's been going on for years everywhere, nothing new here champ. It's unlikely to change - too much "pride" and politics involved. It is what it is...until someone dies.

I know its not unusual for a MD to be part of an EMS team or response in Europe (I've seen it in england) but is it really advantageous to crack someone's chest in the field and then stop "meters" from the hospital b/c her pressure dropped? Seems like one a** backward system to me. While nothing will bring her back, it might actually be advantageous to French EMS to make a deal about this....maybe they would change their ways. Unlikely, interesting article regardless.

The guy WAS trying to smuggle in dope AND he LIED in his testimony. Heard all that on Fox News this past Friday. I think those two guys are serving like, combined, 21 man years. They should release the two agents and hang that Asst. US Attorney out to dry and throw the dope pusher in jail. You know there is somthing seriously wrong with your country when people start giving hustlers the benefit of the doubt. Just some details: Davila was trying to smuggle in 750 pounds of dope - thats roughly a 1 million dollar street value. Davila asserted he was an small-time drug dealer, but the Feds have records of him making large volume deposits to safe houses as far back as 05.

I find it almost impossible to wear a seatbelt and tech a call in just about every type of ambulance. I can't do a proper exam and initiate the proper care from the bench. As passenger or driver i always belt up. However, last night a buddy of mine got banged out on a nasty trauma as my tour was about to end (leaving him as the only unit in the area) - my partner grabbed me and we rolled to back him up - being caught off guard, i forgot the belt. Rare occasion, but it dose happen despite how conscious i try to be. Moral of the story - always make sure to wear that belt!

Rest in Peace Darrell. I am at a total loss for words right now. We've done tons of jobs together and you've alway been right there with us. I remember when you and Duncan graduated the K-9 academy, the both of you were so excited and that time i took you down to HVHC for a dog bite and your legs barely cleared the back doors of the bus. I'm gonna miss you man.
