  1. Probably because he pays dues to the IAFF
  2. I don't want to sound harsh. It's nice that your passionate, but lets face the fact. Obama is a piece of crap who made his millions on a shady real estate deals with a now convicted felon who is married to an anti-American and who was married and had his children baptized by an anti-American. Don't even get me started about that America hating piece of garbage Joe Biden. That bottom feeder is an ardent hater of the military and will do anything to short change our troops. The bottom line is that Obama is nothing but fluff. Hes a fantastic speaker who can say change about 4,000 different ways, but at the end of the day neither him nor biden offer any honest or logical plan for the future. They say a whole lot of nothing. And this whole "we arent taking a dollar from PACs or lobbyists" is a total lie - just take a look at any third party political reporting organization and you'll see there is money from big business, oil, massive unions, etc. Look at the hottest issue - Iraq. Both Biden and Obama went out of their way to trash the "Surge" and General Patraious (remember when this was going on Obama HADN'T EVEN BEEN TO IRAQ OR AFGHANISTAN!!!! How in the hell can you call yourself a candidate for president and not even visit the two central theaters of operation overseas?!?!). McCain on the other hand knows that war is not won in Washington. Give our boys the tools they need and take the handcuffs off - that's how you win a war and that's just what is happening. The data is overwhelming and clear that despite the prayers from Biden and Obama that our troops would fail they prevailed even when "their" elected representatives were slandering them on national TV. Thats a testiment to the strength of the American Military and more importantly American Sailors, Airmen, Soldiers, Marines and Coast Guardsmen. And this doesn't mean i support or agree with everything McCain has to say but the fact is hes got the experience and credentials to be president.
  3. First of all, I'm not a paramedic. It should be the collective decision of the medical authorities on scene aka EMS. I could care less if every FF on my scene is an EMT - the likelihood is that i would have far more experience than they would in treating patients. If a FF happened to be a career EMT or Medic then by all means i would welcome their opinion if they spoke up. But that's an exception rather than the rule in my experience. Been to far too many incidents where a bird is launched by the FD to only be canceled enroute or wasted on something like a shoulder injury.
  4. Check this out.
  5. Well so bro, well said. Fact is, blogs and all that left wing propaganda bull doesn't hold an ounce of water in real debate. Change change change change change change change change change change. Are you enamored yet? How about we use a little more brain power, what a novel idea!
  6. ALS i respect your opinion and input, likewise i respect the decision of the medic & emt at this job. I was never second guessing or Monday morning quarterbacking this. I always give field units the benefit of the doubt (unless its obvious they were grossly negligent) and this is no different. Like i said in a previous post, i was thinking "out loud" more than anything else. I did my stint in Dutchess and i had a few nasty traumas but never felt a chopper was merited because I've got a Level 2 in my backyard that was capable of dealing with/stabilizing some pretty nasty stuff. And in all honesty WMC isn't all that great, at least not in my experience. I've brought some decent trauma there and have had a lackluster experience. Doctor's jumping the gun and screaming for RSI when the patient was maintaining his own airway without an adjunct or being completely unprepared for us when they got an initial report and two subsequent updates on a patient with serious head trauma, ECG changes, etc. In the end, it doesn't really matter. I was just curious, not second guessing.
  7. You do what you've gotta do but if she was as bad as stated, its a straight shot to Saints ~10 minutes during that time of day (pretty much green lights right up Rt. 9). Have saints stabilize and call the chopper if it merits. Really doesn't matter to me either way, i guess i was thinking "out loud." If FD called for the chopper (which i really don't think they should be doing) then so be it, might as well continue it in.
  8. And Obama will destroy this country from the top down. If he gets elected, you'll be more worried about dodging car bombs than your union. Ontop of that, hes going to tax us all to kingdom come, add layer ontop of layer of ineffective bureaucracy and is hell bent on destroying our health care system.
  9. The real problem here is the fact that the towns and villages in this god forsaken county have yet to understand that EMS is a vital service, just as your PDs and FDs are. Until that happens, your going to have to fight tooth and nail and every single dollar. I'm not a big supporter of the volunteer system, but if OVAC can guarantee a reasonable response time (under 10 minutes) within its district 24/7/365 i would like to see them stay in business. I cringe every time a municipality looks to penny pinch by sub contracting out EMS. Would they ever look to sub contract out their PD or FD? Hell no.
  10. Very scary. But, i guess that's the beauty of this country...at the end of the day you get to vote for whoever you want for whatever reasons you wish.
  11. Nice utilization of the police car.... :X
  12. Gotta love it. Can't make this stuff up. Any idea why the patient didn't go to St. Francis first?
  13. More or less status quo for the majority of Westchester's towns/villages and smaller cities. They want the world but are not willing to pay the freight.
  14. Good point. I don't think any other department comes close to touching the FDNY's staffing levels. I think the FDNY has something like 12,000 active firefighters?
  15. It will be interesting to see what the county legislature does when they get their first bill from Transcare. That is, of course, assuming it has not been low balled.
  16. If Transcare won wouldn't that pose a conflict of interest for Putnam's EMS coordinator?
  17. I've got a novel idea. Stay the hell away unless your dispatched. Rolling up or going into a scene in which your not requested makes you part of the problem, especially when you have no idea what your dealing with and or doing. Recently had a very bad experience where some people decided to be heroes after hearing something on a scanner and walked in on a crime scene without a clue. Just stay away.
  18. Never had an issue transporting a prisoner from either a state county or local facility. The only difference, for me, between treating a prisoner and a civi is there is a lot less "small" talk going on. I'll ask the clinical questions i need to and that's about as far as it goes.
  19. 442 - you know empire trucks have been pulled over in the past, more than once for doing excessive speed through three counties going to a nursing home job. Not really sure why your busting stones. Likewise, you know Putnam is a broken system. Until the County get's it's head out of it's a**, i think even Johnny and Roy would have a hard time finding success.
  20. N. White Plains is covered by Valhalla VAC. 3 trucks seems more than enough.
  21. It was never insinuated that this incident was flawless from start to finish. Debriefing is something that will happen, but it it won't happen here.
  22. Welcome to the party. Like some other bills weve discussed here, i'm not keen on this either.
  23. PCRRB*EMS covered their own calls during the MCI.
