  1. mccain housed obama. period, end of discussion. Obama is a radical left wing socialist who wants to tax us and then give our hard earned money to people who don't pay income tax. That's his "economic plan," i encourage anyone to do the research. Don't let anyone fool you about this economic crisis - this is the full work of democrats under Clinton. Back in 98/99/00 they were encouraging people that made 50 grand a year to buy houses worth 500 and 600 thousand - clearly well out of their means. Just so happened that this bubble burst under Bush - again not his fault because the roots go back 10 or so years Not to mention, if Obama gets elected well be dodging car bombs in the street because of his total lack of backbone - it will be Clinton's visa express all over again (if you don't know what that is - it was a Clinton program to expedite the visa process for foreigners and subsequently the majority of 9/11 terrorists slipped in this way). no obama, no socialism, no retreat.
  2. You would think that's the case. But, it's not. Very few municipalities in Westchester have adequate Fire and EMS protection. One would think with all we pay in taxes we would be at the cutting edge but we couldn't be farther from it. I've always found it funny that some skell crack head can get a bus faster than many tax paying westchester residents.
  3. And to think these are the people are our lovely legislatures are fighting for to get health insurance, gas money and all those other lovely perks... While the rest of us hump all day for next to nothing.... What a bunch of malarkey.
  4. highway job, vests go on.
  5. i really dont see what was so funny about my question...
  6. Is the County planning on adding dispatchers or increase shift staffing with this addition?
  7. Maybe? If you hear that beep when you key the mic doesn't that ensure you have a clear connection to the repeater? I really have no idea - i assumed that they were busy with agencies they are the primary dispatch for, tried to raise them twice then gave up. I know the system wasn't designed for portable use, but it seems every time im doing a job requiring the county radio and I'm away from my truck the portable is absolutely worthless b/c everything comes in broken. I can't be running back and forth from my patient and partner to the ambulance to get what i need (if that's the case) and i think its somewhat unfair/unacceptable that i would have to rely on my cellphone in some areas.
  8. It's alright i suppose. Coverage is spotty in some areas, esp with the portables. Other than that some dispatchers don't bother answering - i could care less but if you want me to use it at least answer me when I'm telling you where i am or going or my status. Dunno what the root of that problem is, we probably need more dispatchers (I'm all for that).
  9. The scariest dispatch is from Squad 18. They advised of the potential of a terrorist attack. I listen to these tapes every 9/11, it keeps the memory alive and keeps that fire inside burning.
  10. Well other agencies have done it here in Westchester. Just because its hard and may take some solid leadership doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. And if things are that resistant to change up there, the County should step in and do it themselves.
  11. So merge with surrounding towns/villages. It's 2008 for christ sake, there really is no excuse.
  12. The villages/towns/cities and, insurance companies, medicare/medicaid? It works pretty well in southern Westchester and some agencies do 3x the call volume of some northern agencies in less than a month...
  13. Make it all paid, that will solve the problem.
  14. I want mileage too and from work.
  15. Meat wagon? "I was in the Air Force, i can call it that?" I don't get it. As someone who worked for two years in Dutchess, I think i may have to call Mr. Miller's office and have a word with someone.
  16. just an update on the situation, MANDITORY evacuation of New Orleans to being TOMMOROW morning - it sounds like pretty much the entire city.
  17. Alright, first and formost - if you think anyone currently involved in US politics (elected representatives) is a "common man" your gravely mistaken. They are all from the top 1% of the socio-economic bracket. Like it or not that's the way it is. So your little angle Barack is a MULTI-MILLIONARE just like the vast majority of his colleagues in both houses. Obama made ~4 Million last year and vacationed on a private beach w/ his family in Hawaii. Oh, did we forget about Tony Rezko? The CONVICTED FELLON who Obama had real estate deals with? AND YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT HOUSES?! Do you think this man knows what it's like to be me or any one of us who break our backs and barely make it by? Yeah, sorry, NOT A FREAKING CLUE. And your gonna bust the balls of a guy who fought for this country and was a POW because his wife happens to be wealthy (at least Cindy McCain loves her Country for christ sake). Do us all a favor, put the Obama Kool-Aid down and sober up. When you want to talk facts, come back.
  18. People swear by the "Big Sheers" like NY10570 said, but they are way too big for me. Never had an issue with the generic ones.
  19. God bless.
  20. I really don't think that the cost of strips is the issue. It probably has to do with keeping/ensuring that the meters are calibrated properly - having a program in place to keep all of those glucometers in service and properly calibrated and finding a doctor thats willing to sign off on the whole thing is probably the biggest hurdle.
