The Darien CT Police Department recently received 2010 Crown Victoria patrol vehicles, following their conversion by Specialty Warning Systems of Danbury CT. The warning system is entirely Whelen LED based incorporating a Liberty WeCan lightbar, Super LED Mirror Beams, HideAway LEDs in the front corner lights, LINZ6 LEDs behind the grille and a headlight flasher. Completing the system are four additional HideAway LEDs in the reverse and taillights, a dual Talon on the package shelf and LINZ6s installed in each rear side window. A CenCom system provides overall lighting and siren system control. The center console is a Havis Stout Mount Series with secondary rear console, which contain the dual cup holder, 12V power outlets, Trak mounted flip up armrest, Whelen CenCom control head, department radio and AM/FM radio, which is relocated to accommodate the Data 911 computer display. A ProGard prisoner containment system incorporates the primary partition, ABS transport seat / floorpan combination and solid rear door panel with window armor. Pro Gard also provides the front pushbumper. The custom exterior graphics package incorporates reflective striping and lettering elements, town seal and roof mounted ID. Specialty Warning Systems recently completed multiple 2009 Crown Victoria patrol vehicles, for the Newtown CT Police Department. The audible & visual warning system is all Whelen with a Liberty LED lightbar, 400 Super LEDs behind the grille, headlight flasher, Super LED Mirror Beams and LAW HideAway LEDs in the front corner lights. Four additional LAW HideAway LEDs in the rear tail and reverse lights, a rear deck CHMSL deck light and a 295HFSA5 with 100 watt siren speaker, complete the overall system. The center console is a Havis Angled Series with a side mounted Panasonic CF30 Toughbook laptop, dual cup holders, armrest, power outlets and side mounted MagLite. The prisoner partition is a single prisoner model by Pro Gard, with window armor, ABS transport seat and floorpan.. The reflective graphics package was adopted fleetwide several years ago and is applied to every marked NPD patrol vehicle. Earlier this week, the Yorktown Heights FD took delivery of their new Chief's truck, a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban, upfitted by Specialty Warning Systems in Danbury, CT. 2531 incorporates an all Whelen LED warning system including a fully loaded Freedom FX lightbar, two red / white 700 Super LEDs and four TIR3s on the pushbumper, M4 LEDs on each front and rear outer corner and six Vertex HideAway LEDs in the rear taillights. An eight head Dominator Traffic Advisor was installed inside the rear cargo compartment window while two LIN3s were located at the lower level of the cargo area for added rear facing warning when the cargo door is raised. System control and siren function is by way of an HHS2100 remote system. Two LED compartment lights were installed behind the Traffic Advisor to provide supplemental lighting at night, for equipment retrieval. The center console is a Havis vehicle specific replacement top console which contains the department and County trunk radios, Traffic Advisor control head and dual 12V power outlets. A custom bracket for the HHS2100 control head was installed against the face of the dash to keep it fixed within reach of the operator. Truck outfitted by: Specialty Warning Systems http://www.specialtywarningsystems.com The Georgetown CT Fire Department has taken delivery of a 2007 Isuzu box truck, designed as a support services unit, which replaces a Chevrolet delivery van that was donated to the department in the early 90s. As a mobile "warehouse", it's primary function is to transport support, rehab and supplemental equipment to fire, weather related, Haz Mat, MCI and long term operation scenes. The LED warning system incorporates a Whelen Freedom lightbar, two 600 Supers in the front, two M4s and two 900 series Supers on each side, eight LIN6s on the rear and an eight head linear Traffic Advisor above the rear doors. A CenCom Gold and single 100 watt siren speaker complete the system. Whelen M9 scenelights were installed on each side to provide perimeter lighting while M6 backup lights above the rear step bumper were configured to function as both reverse lights and rear flood lighting. For low light operations, Gor-Lite LED compartment lighting strips were installed in each of the eight side compartments and additional M6 backup light was installed in the rear of the box body roof to provide additional lighting over the rear step and bumper. A Kussmaul Auto Charge system with shoreline Auto Eject and LED indicator also provides 110V power inside the body for portable radio bank chargers, rehab equipment, computers etc. by way of portable or apparatus generators or accessible building power. As the truck was a stock unit, a custom enclosure was fabricated inside the truck body to contain and protect the CenCom ARM, electronics, wiring, LED flasher and battery charger. The exterior graphics layout incorporates gold leaf lettering, department maltese, GFD Fire Police and CT EMS patches, reflective striping and a diamond grade safety chevron applied to the outside and inside of the rear cargo doors. Specialty Warning Systems has completed and delivered it's sixth Paramedic response vehicle for Westchester EMS, based in Mount Kisco New York. Incorporating Whelen and Sound Off Signal components, the warning system includes an FX Freedom lightbar, split red / white 400 Super LEDs on each front outer corner and on the front of the Go Rhino pushbumper. To provide additional intersection warning, two red / white TIR6s, are installed at opposing angles, inside the pushbumper. Red / blue Sound Off Predator IIs were mounted in the rear side cargo windows, two more red / white TIR6s placed on either side of the rear license plate while an eight head Dominator mounted on the rear roof, above the cargo door. As the primary lightbar, and the rear Dominator are both blocked when the cargo door is in the raised position, two rear facing four head Dominators are included inside the cargo compartment, activated by the rear door, that provide supplemental warning to vehicles approaching from the rear. A headlight flasher and Whelen 295HFS4 with secondary (dual) siren amplifier and two 100 watt siren speakers complete the overall system. A remote controlled Go Light spotlight is installed in front of the lightbar for assistance in low light conditions. The 30 inch Havis console contains the Whelen lighting / siren control head, department radios, dual 12V power outlets, internal cup holder, armrest and nine inch storage box. The color LCD display for the Safety Vision rearview camera system, was also installed on the console on a custom bracket, activating in conjunction with a backup alarm and two (of four) halogen floodlights mounted under the rear bumper. Collectively, this provides a safer means by which the driver can operate the vehicle when backing up. The custom rear cabinet provides storage for ALS and BLS response equipment, turnout gear, hand tools, safety supplies and vehicle equipment. Four LED utility lights are installed in the rear cargo compartment, that work in co-operation with the remaining two halogen floodlights under the rear of the vehicle, to provide sufficient nighttime lighting for equipment retrieval and rear vehicle safety during low light operations. Extending into the second row seating position, two compartments are provided for additional scene management supplies, personal gear and safety equipment. A Pro Gard cargo barrier (custom fit to the cabinet) is installed between the cargo compartment and second row seating position to contain equipment stored in the cargo compartment in the event of a collision. Additional components include a Kussmaul battery conditioner with Auto Eject shoreline connection, a 110V duplex outlet inside the truck, 800 amp jump system and Go Rhino pushbumper with full headlight wraps. The exterior graphics are fully reflective, mirroring the layout of other fleet vehicles, now incorporating a blue and yellow safety chevron covering the entire rear of the vehicle. Thought somebody may pick up the differences in radios. As WEMS radios had not been installed by the time conversion was complete, we utilized radios we had in house for photo purposes only. We're just very particular about our photos and don't like open console positions. Presents a poor aesthetic appearance.

4010 is a duplicate of 4011........May be a major addition to the next vehicle however! Not sure of where 4010 will be stationed.

The Lake Mohegan (NY) Fire District recently took delivery of a new 2009 Ford Expedition, designated 2263, replacing its predecessor, a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. The warning system incorporates Whelen LED components including a Freedom SX lightbar, eight head Dominator in the front grille, 500 series LIN6s on the outer front corners and rear cargo door, roof mounted Traffic advisor and headlight flasher. Four Federal HideAway LEDs were also installed in the rear brake and reverse light housings. System control is by way of a Whelen CenCom system with a single 100 watt compact siren speaker. A remote control Go Light spotlight was installed on top of the lightbar to provide additional scene lighting, hazard identification and assistance in general low light conditions. A 30 inch Havis console contains the Whelen CenCom control head, department radios, dual 12V power outlets, internal cup holder, armrest and six inch storage box. In the rear cargo compartment, a platform was installed to provide a solid mounting base for a set of irons, two extinguishers and hand tools. A Pro Gard cargo barrier was also installed to provide additional containment of any equipment stored in the rear, in the event of a collision. Specialty Warning Systems recently completed a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe Chief's vehicle for the Long Hill Fire Department, in Trumbull CT. Designated LH-2, it's the second Chief's vehicle provided to the Long Hill FD by Specialty Warning Systems in the past year. Whelen LED components make up the warning system, including a Freedom FX lightbar, two red / white 700 Super LEDs behind the front grille, a six head Dominator in the rear cargo window, four LAW HideAway LEDs in the taillights, split red / blue 400 Super LEDs on the front outer bumper corners, red TIR3s in the rear side cargo windows and solid state headlight flasher. A single 100 watt siren speaker and 295SLSA6 system controller complete the warning system. The 24 inch Havis-Shields center console incorporates a dual cup holder, two 12V power outlets, side mounted armrest, six inch storage compartment and department radio. A Panasonic CF29 Toughbook laptop is mounted on a Havis side mount and platform system. As EMS and first responder equipment are stored in the cargo compartment, a Pro Gard cargo barrier was installed to provide containment in the event of a collision. Several changes in the exterior graphics were also added to improve vehicle safety and reflect recent changes in the overall layout. An all LED warning system by Whelen includes a loaded Freedom FX lightbar, two 700 series Super LEDs behind the grille, headlight flasher and LIN6s on each outer front corner for intersection warning. Rear warning includes four LAW HideAways in the taillight assemblies and two Strip Lite LEDs installed in the interior face of the cargo door trim to provide lighting from the rear when the cargo door is raised. A custom electronics cabinet for radio chassis', the HideAway driver and related electronics, was fabricated and installed on the driver side of the cargo compartment. LED utility lighting was installed in the face of the cargo door to provide supplemental lighting for nighttime operations. The center console is a 24 inch Havis which contains the department radios, Whelen 295SLSA6 system controller, 12V power outlets, cup holders, map light and side mounted armrest. The audible & visual warning system is all Whelen with a three head Inner Edge in the upper front window, 400 Super LEDs in the CPI speaker housing, four TIR3s (all mounted on the Setina pushbumper) and HideAway LEDs in the front corner light housings. Two dual Dominators, two dual Talons and a dual rear deck Talon are all installed in the rear window with two additional HideAway LEDs in the reverse light housings. Red/blue Super LED Mirror Beams were installed, set on steady burn and are used as cruise lights. The center console is a Havis Stout Mount with heavy duty locking swing arm which mounts a tilt / swivel adapter and the Panasonic CF30 Toughbook laptop, with dual cup holders and flip up armrest. The console contains the Whelen A6 controller, both department radios and power outlets. The prisoner partition is a single prisoner model by Setina, with window armor installed on each rear passenger door. The new graphics layout, which incorporates a rear bumper safety chevron, is to be utilized on all subsequent patrol vehicles. The partition is a single prisoner model that segregates the prisoner to the passenger side only. Keeps him (or her) away from behind the driver while minimizing the amount of space available to become "active" potentially causing damage to doors, window frame, rear window etc.

The North Salem New York Police Department recently accepted delivery of a new 2009 Crown Victoria patrol vehicle. As with many of the vehicles being converted today, this new NSPD patrol Crown Vic utilizes an entirely LED based warning system. While we expect strobes to maintain a presence in the warning market for some time to come, the benefits of an LED system and the improvements that have taken place in the recent past in LED technology, point clearly to their obvious dominance in the warning industry. 7K360 incorporates a fully loaded Freedom lightbar, two 700 series grille mounted Supers, Mirror Beams and HideAway LED corner lights in the front of the vehicle. A lower rear deck Inner Edge and HideAway LEDs in the brake & reverse light housings provide additional warning to the rear. System control and siren function are by way of a Whelen 295SLSA6 with a single 100 watt speaker behind the grille. The center console is a Havis Angled Series that contains the A6 controller, department radio, scanner, power outlets and OEM AM/FM radio which required relocation to the console to accommodate the Data911 computer display mounted in the dash. The computer also includes a hand held bar code scanner and thermal printer contained within the flip up armrest. The prisoner partition is a Setina while the all reflective graphics package matches the rest of the NSPD fleet vehicles. The Bethel (CT) Police Department recently took delivery of a 2009 Ford Expedition, assigned to the on duty patrol Sergeants, with incident management as an important integral goal in the overall configuration of the vehicle. The audible & visual warning system is all Whelen with a Liberty SX lightbar, 700 Super LEDs behind the grille, rear HideAway LEDs, headlight flasher and CenCom system controller. The center console is a Havis Stout Mount with heavy duty locking swing arm which mounts a tilt / swivel adapter and the Panasonic CF30 Toughbook laptop, with dual cup holders and flip up armrest. A custom Command and storage cabinet in the rear cargo compartment incorporates a full width incident command board, storage for scene control and investigative supplies, EMS equipment and hand tools. What makes this cabinet unique is a second docking station on a slide out tray, identical to the front mounted unit, for the CF30 laptop. With individual antennas, power supplies and boosters, two computers can be in operation simultaneously, (one in the front and one in the rear) performing different operations, allowing for greater flexibility and capability during major incidents, weather related events or town wide disasters. Bethel (CT) Police Department 2009 Crown Victorias Specialty Warning Systems recently delivered two new Crown Victoria patrol vehicles to the Bethel CT Police Department The 100% LED warning system is comprised of a Whelen SX Liberty lightbar (with lighted center sign), headlight flasher, four Vertex HideAways in the reverse lights and taillights, two in the front corner lights a 100 watt siren speaker and CenCom Gold system controller. The center console is a Havis Stout Mount / Trak Mount system, with a locking swing arm, docking station and tilt swivel adapter for the Panasonic Toughbooks computer. It also contains a dual cup holder, 12V power outlets, flip up armrest, the Whelen CenCom control head and department Motorola radio. As computers are installed in every vehicle, an AOI airbag option switch is included to, selectively disable the passenger front airbag to protect the occupants in the event of an airbag deployment. Prisoner containment is achieved with a Setina full width partition, Pro Gard ABS transport seat and Pro Gard floorpan. A Havis sliding trunk tray contains the CenCom ARM, radio chassis', repeater and related electronics. A fully reflective exterior graphics package completes the outside of the vehicle(s). The Independent Fire Company located in Mount Kisco (Westchester County) New York, accepted their new Chief's vehicle on July 9th. Designated 2283, the new truck of "The Swarm" is a maroon 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe. As the IFC was seeking a slightly more discreet outward appearance, a subtler configuration was employed while still providing the degree of visual warning a primary response vehicle requires. To achieve this, a Whelen Inner Edge, ten lamp LED interior lightbar was installed in the upper front windshield with two six head Dominators installed in the front grille. A Super LED Mirror Beam kit was installed on both side view mirrors while red/white LIN4s were mounted on the side running boards and inside the rear side cargo windows. Two red/amber 400 Super LEDs installed on the rear cargo door, four LAW hideaways in the taillights and an eight head Dominator in the upper cargo window, provide rear facing warning. A somewhat unique feature of the warning system is the utilization of the Whelen HHS2200 remote system that combines all visual warning, siren and P.A. controls into a single hand held unit. It's use provides significant space savings in the center console while affording individualized control of the warning system to meet the IFC's specs. Two dual reflector halogen flood assemblies are installed under the rear bumper with one pair of reflectors working in conjunction with the OEM reverse lights and the other pair configured with LED utility lights that were mounted in the cargo compartment to provide area lighting for nighttime operations. As the Independent Fire Company desired to maintain the OEM center console, a Havis vehicle specific replacement console was incorporated which contains the department low band radio, County trunk radio, 12V power outlets and cup holders. A custom bracket was fabricated for installation of the hand held system controller that allows for easy access and stable control while still maintaining "portability" should the need arise. The custom storage cabinet incorporates space for SCBA, hand tools, turnout gear, EMS equipment, scene management and Incident Command supplies. The front face of the cabinet provides for the consolidation of the electronics related to the warning and communications systems. A gold leaf and reflective graphics package with hand painted artwork, finish the exterior, with the department's bee displayed proudly on the rear cargo door, symbolizing their history as "The Swarm". The Brewster Fire Department, in Putnam County New York, has just taken delivery of their new "11-1-3" Chief's response vehicle. The 2009 Tahoe is the third Chief's vehicle provided to the BFD by Specialty Warning Systems. With the exception of two white strobes in the upper grille, the warning system is 100% Whelen LED based, incorporating a Freedom lightbar, two 700 Super LEDs in the lower grille, 400 LEDs on each outer corner, TIR3s on the rear cargo door and LAW HideAways in the rear taillights. An eight head Dominator Traffic Advisor is installed in the upper rear cargo window while two additional TIR3s are located inside the cargo compartment, facing rearward to provide supplemental lighting to the back, when the cargo door is raised. LED utility lighting is installed on the face of the cargo door and inside the rear compartment to provide work area lighting during night operations. A CenCom Gold controls all vehicle warning, siren and Traffic Advisor functions. The custom Command Cabinet provides storage space for portable extinguishers, IC supplies, EMS gear and communications equipment. Hand tools are secured on an inside wall with Pac Mount tool holders and a walkaway bracket contains an SCBA. Turnout gear is stored in an open space in front of the SCBA. Also contained within the cabinet is a full width command board, with a clear overlay, for scene management. The front face of the cabinet is utilized for the installation of the radio chassis', fuse panels and the majority of the vehicle's electronics. The center console is a 24 inch Havis which contains the department radios, CenCom control head, 12V power outlets, cup holders, armrest and six inch storage box. A Ledco docking station for a Panasonic tablet computer and Havis side mounted keyboard platform complete the console. Due to the installation of the laptop an AOI airbag option switch was also installed to allow for manual control of the passenger front airbag. A gold leaf and reflective graphics package mirrors the other two Brewster FD Chief's response vehicles and finishes the outside of the truck. Long Hill Fire Department Trumbull, CT 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe The Long Hill Fire Department, situated in Trumbull CT, recently accepted delivery of their new Chief's vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. Whelen LED and strobe components make up the warning system, including a Freedom FX lightbar, two split red/white 700 Super LEDs behind the front grille, a four head Dominator in the rear cargo window, four HideAway strobes in the taillights, split red/blue 400 Super LEDs on the front outer fender corners and solid state headlight flasher. A single 100 watt siren speaker and 295SLSA6 system controller complete the warning system. The 24 inch Havis-Shields center console incorporates a dual cup holder, two 12V power outlets, side mounted armrest, six inch storage compartment, communications equipment and Whelen controller. United States Federal Aviation Administration 2007 Ford Expedition Specialty Warning Systems recently completed a 2007 Ford Expedition Safety & Emergency Response Vehicle, for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Based in New York, it's primary responsibility is first response to all aircraft or airport related emergencies throughout multiple states. The audible and visual warning system is 100% Whelen and is primarily LED based, incorporating a front Inner Edge interior lightbar, one six head Dominator in the front grille, another six head Dominator in the rear cargo window, headlight flasher and four HideAway LEDs in the rear taillights. An ALPHA12R remote siren and single 100 watt siren speaker complete the system. All lighting and siren control is by way of a simple three switch panel. The Wilton (CT) Police Department, has recently taken delivery of their 2009 Dodge Charger assigned to their Traffic Enforcement Division. While fully functional as a daily patrol vehicle, it's principal purpose is enforcement of motor vehicle laws, safety and public education. The primary requirement was a discreet vehicle but highly visible when needed for vehicle stops, emergency response and officer safety. To meet this requirement Specialty Warning Systems incorporated an all Whelen LED package including front & rear Inner Edge interior lightbars, red and blue front windshield Inner Beams and two 4 inch round TIR6 LEDs in the lower fog light positions. Dual TIR3 LEDs in each rear side window provide side lighting while red and blue LIN4s mounted on either side of the license plate and two white HideAway LEDs in the backup light housings supplement the rear facing lighting. The OEM headlight and taillight flashers were also utilized in the overall system. A Havis-Shields Stout Mount console contains the Panasonic CF19 laptop, department radio, Whelen SLSA6 system controller, dual power outlets, cup holder and flip up style armrest. Rear electronics are installed on a side mounted Havis-Shields fold up tray to retain as much of the available trunk space as possible. Early feedback we've received from members of the unit indicate the car has more than surpassed the goals they were striving for. Just a quick reply to Oswegowind.......As one of the requirements was as discreet a final install as possible, we opted for the Inner Beams (as opposed to the Mirror Beams) to keep one less component off the exterior, that may be spotted by a potential "client". They afford the same basic angled intersection warning as you mentioned, without the lighthead visibility of the Mirror Beam. The side mounted TIR3s do afford some side warning but the PD understands they are in no way nearly as effective as a full patrol configuration and don't anticipate using the new car in a similar manner to the typical (marked) patrol vehicle.......it's tough sometimes trying to find a balance between the specific vehicle requirements, overall capability and overall safety for the vehicle, operator and the public........
