I just switched to verizon last night. I'm sure i'll miss the DC at first, but i'll get used to it. The phone service is crap, the customer service is worse, and it costs way too much. I've had my verizon for literally less than 24 hours, and I already love it. Service all the way down route 9 through briarcliff and archville, which i could never get with nextel! Goodbye, and good riddance!!

Hey Rob... um... could you be any more vauge? lol

So are we talking some additional hires?

As far as the status of the crew, they are just shaken up. The medic who was driving is obviously pretty rattled, but not physically injured. All of the crew members were transported to White Plains for evaluation, but released. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased, and my fellow Mamaroneck EMS members.

2 points to add to that... 1. Would Edgemont be considered a sub-hamelt within the hamlet of Greenville? (Is Greenville even considered a hamlet?) 2. If you ask the residents, anything south of Old Army Rd is SCARSDALE!! (And they wonder why they get Greenburgh PD/EMS, and Greenville Fire!)

Not for nothing, I think everything should.. this way you can tell a chopper to look for a certain rig to mark an LZ and they're not guessing. And how much could it possibly cost? At the absolute most I figure $50 per rig for 1' high reflective lettering

I got these pictures from a buddy of mine, Bruce Fonseca, and he asked me to post them up here. It's the new Medic 4 and ambulance for the Transcare/Putnam County contract. (The fly car picts were taken with a camera phone, hence the fuzziness)

The Last Marcus Dairy Super Sunday is approaching. It's Sunday October 12th from 8AM-4PM. I plan on meeting up with a few friends and going up. If anybody wants to join us, Plan on meeting at the Mobil station at the Annsville Circle in Peekskill around 8:30. Last time, we took a nice ride up Route 9, to Route 301, up in to carmel and cut over route 6 to Danbury. Also, HD of Danbury is having a big event that day, so we may be taking a ride over there. Any questions, PM me or just post on the board! Safe riding!

Doc - Great Idea for this thread. Many people don't know how much work and stress there can be while dispatching. Much props to all the dispatchers out there, doing a fantastic job! -648

Believe it or not, after being talked about for 3 or more years... The papers got signed yesterday for the Croton Fire Department to make the switch to full time dispatch by 60 Control. The scheduled date is October 1st, 2008. Thanks to the hard work of 2083/642/remember585, all of the alarm assignments are programmed and ready to go, so it should be an easy transition.

Come on Cap!! us whackers.. uh, i mean enthusiasts, are dying to know!!!

At least the Yankees had a decent excuse... 4 of their best players getting injured in very start of the season. A-Rod, Matsui, Posada, and Wang. And yeah, I know it's too little, too late, but the Yanks were on a tear at the end of the season. They were playing some good baseball! But i've gotta side with DR154... J-E-T-S; JETS JETS JETS!!!
-
I've gotta back up HFD on this one... I'm sure everyone remembers back when Deputy Chief Piazza from Briarcliff Manor passed away. I was working as a dispatcher when his funeral announcement was put out. It was quite a long winded announcement, and I mean no disrepect by saying that. I had to step over the announcement to put out a report of a possible fire. I felt bad doing it, especially since it was an LODD, but it had to be done.

I Can't believe nobody is talking about this yet!! With the final regular season (and it's not looking too good for post-season) game completed at Yankee Stadium, it's bringing the end of a great era. What a better way to cap it off than Mariano Rivera coming in to get the last 3 outs of the game (although not a save situation), Derek Jeter getting the last at-bat as a Yankee, and Andy Pettite getting the last win.. Not to take anything away from Jose Molina, who hit the last home run, I think personally, I would have rather seen Jeter hit it, as he has been a Yankee all his carrer. The only regret I have, is not being able to make it to a game this year... especially disappointing since I could have gone to Saturday's game if I had the money for the tickets, and wasn't going to the Ossining parade!! As much as I'm going to miss the old stadium, A-Rod said it pretty well, the Yankees are moving on to bigger and better things! Now lets hope they can bring home a championship in year 1!

Well, I'm sure if he wasn't intoxicated it wouldn't have been a problem. Still funny though!
-
NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!!
-
Yeah, I too wish Torre and Donny Baseball could have been there. But I guess if the Steinbrenners weren't such [insert choice word here] then they'd probably both still be on the team.
-
Hey, not for nothing, but Willie was a big part of the yankees history. A great 2nd baseman, and a great 3rd base coach. It's not his fault the mets fired him!
-
As many memories as there have been in the old stadium, we are talking about the Yankees. Hell, I've only been alive since 1983, but my parents tell me all the time, how they were at the game where Reggie hit his 3 home runs. My grandfather used to tell me stories when he was younger about getting a hot dog for a nickel... With a new stadium will come new memories. The game of baseball isn't going anywhere, and the Yanks are only moving across the street! God willing when I'm old and gray, I'll be able to tell my grandkids stories of seeing great games in BOTH stadiums!

Millwood also got best antique and i think best (or 2nd best) ladies aux. Croton took 2nd Best Tower Ladder, Thornwood took 2nd Best Rescue, Sleepy Hollow took 2nd Best Engine, Mamaroneck got best Jr. Corps, Sleepy Hollow EMS got best ambulance, and I believe Mahopac got best chiefs car.
-
Funny you mention that... In the last year, 2 babies have been delivered by emergency personell in Croton... This one by the cops, and the last one by TANKER 10! T10 has a stork on it, maybe the cops will follow suit!

Hmmm... error, or freudian slip! lol

I heard differently from the chief, i guess even he can be wrong sometimes! lol
