  1. Buchanan is a single company department.
  2. It's going to be 2552s. 2551 just told me he's happy with the Tahoe, so he's passing it up.
  3. When They Said "Flock of Seagulls" I was thinking of the 80's hair band! (Sorry... I couldn't resist!!!)
  4. Congrats!!!!!!
  5. I can tell you for a fact that 642 is on his way to white castle as we speak. Anyone who has his phone number, feel free to harass him, and tell him I sent you.
  6. Someone's gotta seperate this thread and keep it going.. Easily the most laughs I've gotten out of this forum in a long time... I still can't believe nobody mentioned my favorite lines though... I picked the wrong week to quit smoking I picked the wrong week to quite drinking I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue I picked the wrong week to quit using anphetimines! And Super Troopers... I could go on for hours with that one, but if I had to pick a favorite, other than "Large Farva" i think it would be Hey, let's pop some Viagras and issue tickets with raging, mega-huge boners. You know, Farva, only you can make a dark man blush. And no, we're not doing it. And who could forget Hey Farva, what's that restaurant you like with all the goofy $--- on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?
  7. I recently got one done at the new Big Joes in Mohegan. Excellent work, a little pricey. Granted, you get what you pay for, but my sister, who has 10 pieces now, uses Freddie at Ink Injections in Mohegan. He doesn't charge quite as much, and the quality of work is unmatched. I've also had 2 done at Extoria in Lake George, as well as one at Adrenaline in Seaside Heights. Both were good artists, and the tattoos came out excellent. My first one, I don't think the place is still around, unless it moved somewhere else, was done at Thunder Express, on Rt 55 in Arlington.
  8. I'm posing a two part question here regarding scanners in motor vehicles in the State of New York. Since my local PD agency is breaking stones about us responders having scanners in our vehicles, I want to get some legal facts. I've looked up the NYS V&T Law on the subject, and this is what I found. Now, question #1, for the Law Enforcement types; I want to make sure I am interpreting this right. Other than a Police Officer, Peace Officer, or Amateur Radio Operator (licensed by the FCC), it is 100% illegal to have a scanner (or device capable of receiving police frequencies) in a vehicle under any circumstance. The part about the amateur radio operator confuses me a bit. What I'm getting from this is it has to be connected to a transmitter (i.e, mobile radio) on frequencies designated for amateur radio use only? Question #2, how would one go about obtaining an amateur radio operator permit? Thanks for the help everyone.. Just trying to figure out a way to legally keep a scanner in my car!
  9. Can someone not involved with law enforcement or fire police take a peace officer class? I used to have it when I was an Aux. P.O. but I wouldn't know how to go about taking the class otherwise.
  10. I believe you are correct. You can find that topic here: New Rochelle New Rescue 4
  11. Niiiiice!!!!! I'm sure that'll serve the citizens of Scarsd... uh, I mean the North End of New Rochelle Can't wait to work with it on some EMS runs!
  12. You took the words right out of my mouth... Also, not only do you have the Staffed TMFD ladder, but also Larchmont and Harrison with the Tower Ladders right down the road. I'm gonna shut up now though before I piss off one of my VMFD buddies!
  13. I feel your pain, brother... Another sad day in the fire service... At least Goldens Bridge and Dobbs Ferry still have theirs!
  14. Check the photo section! Croton Fire Photos
  15. A great job by everyone on scene! As always, my Croton guys and gals made me proud. I'm just happy I got to go with the FDVA!!!
  16. Pat Who? lol!! Dont tell her I said that!!! Congrats to the officers, and looking forward to another good year!
  17. Hey, I've always got other places to wash the car... and when CEMS gets their new building, we can go there.... oh, wait.. nevermind!
  18. Ahh yes... the good old days, when I taught your sister the alphabet on my swingset, lol. I miss the 62 as well... One of my favorite childhood pictures is the "motley crew" shot at the Croton Point muster.. I'm sure you know the one i'm reffering to, I'll try and scan it an post it up here
  19. Last week I just happend to be driving through Brooklyn, not even realizing I was going past E-236's HQs, and I found these to old rigs sitting in the parking lot next to the station. The Mack is Bogota, NJ former Engine 403, and the other is from Elizabeth Twp, NJ, looks like it says Engine 1 on the front fender. Anyone have any info as to why they are there? I'm wondering if the guys from E-236 bought them to restore or something along those lines.
  20. I noticed that, but i thought i saw the fd personnel vehicles in that lot too, unless the boneyards were just borrowing the space...
  21. I literally grew up on that engine. The rig was built in 84, and my dad joined the company in 85 or 86, and I've been around it ever since. I even got to spend 2 years as Engineer and Asst Engineer. I was sad to see it go, and if it winds up getting scrapped, someone better put me on suicide watch.
  22. So i guess once the old cars are phased out, the only "smurf blue" cars in New Ro will be the Blue Bird Cabs?? (Unless you look inside the door jambs of the NRFD dewatering unit!!!)
  23. 1. CAN be taught... how many actually have it though 2. What happens when you have an overturned school bus and you need 12 ambulances. County is going to get involved anyway. It's easier if they're at it from the get-go.
  24. I gotta agree with ALS on both points. The EMD is such a valuable asset. Especially with the importance of early CPR in cardiac arrest cases. Mutual Aid, again, the county has preprogrammed into the CAD at the click of a mouse 1st, 2nd, 3rd due, etc for everywhere in the county. Both ALS and BLS services. Like firecapt32 said, nothing may be wrong with your dispatch in T-town. But an "upgrade" may make things better... It may not... Not for nothin though, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but my true belief is to move forward in emergency services, you gotta have an open mind.
