  1. Who's outfitting it? diesel or gasoline? Just one light?
  2. As of 1919Hrs - appx 2 inches on the ground in Somers
  3. Good point, but it's still only a minor slap on the wrist. The punishment should fit the crime, and in my opinion, he deserved at least 30 days.
  4. Well said DOC. How many people, especially from the northern county have taken classes down at the training center? Are you getting reembursment for your gas, food, etc. Have you ever taken time off of work to go to an FD function? This is just a nice way to give back to the "jolly" vollies.
  5. i guess it was probably a good thing she didn't have a ciggarette in her mouth. Now that would have sucked
  6. Hopefully this is the last one for the year. If see anymore white powder after tonight, it better be in my coffee. (refrain from any narcotics comments!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  7. I'm going to pose another question - Where is everyones favorite place to get chili? I like So Damn Hot, in Valhalla, or the hot dog truck on RT100 and RT134
  8. Yes, but as someone once said, when in rome... Mt Vernon doesn't use the county plate assignments when they are talking amongst themselves. In reallity, their engines are 201-206, and L61, L62, they refer to them as E1-E6, L1, L2.
  9. A tragic reminder of how careful apparatus operators need to be nowadays. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved
  10. Any specs available? We're a curious bunch here!!
  11. The other thing that's nice about going to other facilities, is some allow live burns. We have gone to 3 or 4 different training centers just for that, and it's 150 times more realistic than the controlled propane fires that the WCFTC has. I'm not trying to degrade westchester at all, but nothing beats a live burn. I know we have been talking about expanding a bit for next time, possibly doing a car fire in the garage scenario.
  12. OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!! Although, picts could be taken for the EMTBravo swimsuit calendar I'm working on! :-k :-k
  13. We usually only bring a Tanker to parades close to home, and it leaves right after. If we do bring it far away, we try and make sure our closest neighbors with tankers, Yorktown and Millwood are leaving theirs back. Last year, however, this wasn't an issue, and at the rate we are going, it doesn't look like it will be one this year!
  14. Depending on the location of the parade, and what rigs are in service, Croton will usually bring an Engine, our TL, and the rescue to parades further away. (The tanker will go sometimes when it is in service.) Closer parades, like Ossining, Montrose, etc we will usually bring 2 engines, the TL, and the Rescue. We always leave something back to cover the village. If the TL is out, usually Ossining has one or both of their trucks back if we need help.
  15. I know a few medics that have the propper training, are authorized by their organization (whether it's legal or not) and do carry both pepper spray and expandable batons. They have never used them on someone, and hope they never have to, but it's a $^#*-ed up world out there, and you never know who is going to attack you.
  16. Croton will be at: Croton (duh) Ossining Montrose Yorktown Peekskill Irvington Mt. Kisco - I too may have missed one And Washington Engine Co. (E119) Will be at the HVVFA convention in Glenns Falls, and possibly Brewster - I can't remember what the verdict was on that one - help me out Muns.
  17. One of my teachers had a great saying... "It takes 100 'ataboys' to make up for one 'oh %^#" How true it is
  18. That looks like the inside of my garage, minus the Mack CFs
  19. Love #8 Jr and #18 - Bobby Labonte Can't stand the rainbow fruitcake Jeff Gordon
  20. MLB

Of course, I think the Yankees are going all the way. Especially since my man, #24, Tino Martinez is back at 1st base Player to watch, Albert Puljos All star game canidates: Puljos, Pedro Martinez, Carlos Beltran, Johnny Damon, Tim Wakefield I would like to go see the Yankees beat the Red Sox in Boston, but i'll have to see if i can get some serious body armor first And i actually do have quite an interesting baseball story: The spring after the whole Yankees/John Rocker Incident, me and my family went to Florida. My dad and I went to see the Braves play the University of Georgia for the 1st spring training game of the year. We both sported our Yankees gear, with pride, to the stadium that day. My dad got interviewed by two newspapers, Baseball Digest, and CBS news about his opinion on the whole situation. I managed to get a few Braves' autographs, including JOHN ROCKER! - It was quite an interesting day!
  21. It's had numerous names/mottos over the years - The Big House, First In - Last Out, Northside Powerhouse, oh and lets not forget...______ Point
  22. I happened to be at that bar too that night. I had fun with the guys that we're mentioned, but i walked in, and saw them in uniform, and it took me a second to actually realize what i was seeing. I didn't think that it was such a great idea, but I wasn't about to speak my mind then, and ruin a good night. Here's the scoop that I got directly from the firefighters. They were at a St. Patties day parade in Greenwich, and they all wen't out to drink, and 2 of them left their uniforms on. A simple suggestion, for the future, at least take the jacket and shirt off. How many people don't wear an undershirt under the uniform shirt. Leave the jacket and uniform shirt in the car, and it eliminates this issue. Like everyone else said, times have changed. Maybe they aren't going to respond on a call, but does the average speculating american know that?
  23. All I can say...WHAT A CLASS! - I reccomend this class to anyone who can ppossibly take it. Even if your dept doesn't have a FASTeam. The second day was exhausting, but fun and challenging at the same time. I talked to the guys from Baldwinsville, and told them about this website, so who knows, they may be popping up sometime soon. I think I did miss a few departments on my easrlier post. I know Briarcliff Manor was there, adn now I can't remember the other one, but as soon as it comes to me I'll put it up. The instructors were: Carl Houmand - Monticello FD Chris Whitby, Middletown FD Mike Heidi - Endicott FD All 3 of them were great. I can only hope I will be lucky enough to take another class with them.
  24. Remember - he's a scottsman and a medic - it can't be in great shape. I'll go with 1.25
  25. Well - I just got home from Day #1 - It is quite a large class. The represented departments are (forgive me if i miss anyone): Ossining, Millwood, Croton, Mahopac Falls, Yorktown, Hughsonville, Garrison, Ardsley, Eastchester, and one other that I can't remember their name - B-----ville from Onendaga County. Today we spent 4 hours in the classroom, broke for lunch, and then spent about another 3 learning the different methods of Large Area Room Search, and Victim removal. Today was the easy day. We start at 0800 tomorrow and go until we finish. This class will really tell you if your out of shape or not. I also want to send my regards to one of the firefighters from Ardsley who injured his back durning one of the evolutions, and had to be removed by ambulance. Best of Luck
