  1. Nah - I think i'm going to go with an arrowstick in the rear. Either that, or flush mount TIR-6's. I Haven't decided yet.
  2. It does better than the trailblazer!!!!
  3. Clear strobe tubes in the eyes, and i haven't figured out where to put them in the rear yet. Any suggestions?

  6. It's not that hard to pass the test, but don't get caught up in that. Be ready for something much harder. All you really need is to be accurate. 30 words a minute isn't that fast, so twenty is even easier. Also - when I took the typing portion, there was a problem with the program, and i'm pretty sure everyone got a letter saying they failed. Once they corrected it, those who passed got the updated letters, and their position on the list. Good Luck to everyone
  7. When It comes down to it - all firetrucks are man-made machines. They will ALWAYS have issues. Especially when a new design/change is made. I've heard all the names and abbreviations for all the apparatus companies (American La-F***-up, KME= Keeps Mechanics Employed, etc) but when it comes down to it, all these apparatus being built are by definition "custom," so whos to say that Part "A" and Part "B" will always work together without any issues, when every department is ordering different configurations. It's not just firetrucks - it happens on cars too. Take the new Lexus/Toyota Hybrids (RX400H/Highlander). I talked to some of the people that I used to work with at Lexus, and they said these things are coming back with problems left and right. I guess what I'm trying to say is, yeah, ALF is sold, but, look at the history. Because of a few flops with a new design, people are turning their backs on a manufacturer that has been putting out quality machinery since well before I was born. S**t happens - I'd be willing to bet that the ALF name will still be on firetrucks for years to come.
  8. I was hoping it would come out bigger, but the windshield "decal" says "THE ONLY TRUCK WITH MORE LIGHTS THAN 648" **Please don't consider this knocking Harrison - In fact - I'm jealous!
  9. WPDH is great for classic rock, as is Q104, but nobody plays the alternative rock like K-Rock Long Live XM
  10. Hmmm....no more driving to calls = more time inside! Works for me!
  11. EMS-BUFF - Shakin his money-maker - LADIES - HE IS SINGLE!!
  12. Hmmm.... I dunno - Me : Or Vinny: you be the judge - (Yes - I know my tan was a little off that day)
  13. Thats your problem there, you need to go talk to the ladies - don't make them come talk to you!
  14. Seth - everyone that has posted in this thread is 110% right. You have gone out of your way to make this possible. A place for insomniacs like my self to spend their long, sleepless nights, or days, at a computer and discuss anything from training, to holloween costumes that should be made punishable by law. Anyone who has the audacity and "cajones" to badmouth you, or the work you have done to make this possible, is, in my and in many other peoples opinons...well, continuing this sentence would break the rules of the forum, but you get the picture. Keep up the excellent work, and don't take anything those @$$holes say to heart. They don't know you, they don't know the effort you put in to make this site possible. And as DOC said - Congrats on the new job. I was wondering why Hartsdale had 2 fires this week. Now it makes sense!! . Just playin - keep up the good work Art
  15. This Sucks major a$$. I'm not a stern fan, but nobody plays music like K-rock. I guess I'll be listening to the XM a lot more now. Ever since 102.7 Switched to talk, and then the crap they play now, K-Rock has been by far the best radio station around.
  16. Yeah, I have noticed pretty much all of them with vista bars around here - but i saw quite a few with the streethawks the last time i was upstate in Lake George around august. Either way - I say they should ditch the rotators. Less moving parts = less problems, and less amps drawn. Its a win-win situation
  17. Yes - but I think it takes a little longer than that. Definatley takes a little longer to establish the list.
  18. If you passed the writing part, you will get a notice down the road to take the typing exam. To be honest, I can't remember how long it takes.
  19. Simple - When in doubt, start 'em out. You can always turn people around, slow them down, etc. Best to get them started.
  20. Just to add on - It's going to be a PL - Medallion - almost identical to the one that Croton picked up last year.
  21. Being such an "expert" in this field, I figured it's only right that i chimed in. Skooter - Yes, many individual agencies are eqipping their vehicles with LEDs, but look at our troopers. Just about every NYSP car I see still has the Federal Streethawk bar. I've seen a few with the Vista bars, but they are using rotators. Giving the conditions that the troopers are put in, i personally hope that NYSP will look at this study, and upgrade thier vehicles. I've noticed a few cars with some additonal secondary lighting, but the lightbars are still dim and dull compared to these LED bars.
  22. I'm really liking that $25 to Boston. I may have to take a trip up there to watch the JETS beat the Patriots!
  23. They definatley do have excellent food, and the firehouse theme is mostly local, so if you walk in, you may just see something from your department hanging on the wall. I have to reccomend getting the wings, BUT, unless you have cajones of steel, DO NOT GET THE "HAZ-MAT" WINGS. I love hot food, but trust me when I say stick with the "4-Alarm" if you want them hot, but edible.
  24. For looks, I prefer black. It's more traditional. I've never used tan gear, so I'm not going to discredit it. I honestly can't say which one I prefer for performance.
  25. Jimmboy will be missed and loved forever. Jim, Gina and family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I'm sure I speak for many when I say he was an inspiration for me.
