I think the people in the area who are complaining about having to go around and use an alternate route should shut thier yappers and deal with it. Keep the damn Dam closed. They aren't the ones who will be underwater if the thing gets a hole blown in it. Ever see Force 10 from Navarone? It doesn't take much to get a dam break going.

The whole thing with the probie getting offered a three way with the guy's fiancee was funny as hell because it was a bit unexpected, but it's so far in left field tha it just takes away from the seriousness of the show. I remember when they first talked about this show it was supposed to be a comedy, but then they moved towards Drama. I think they're just going for shock value more than dramatic interpretation.

I think it needs more sex, people saying "a******" and less fire scenes.

Kind of makes you wonder. If someone shoves a DPA in YOUR face and demands certain things on the part of the patient, what do YOU do?
-
A good, safe answer. But what if the patient (as in this case) appears C/A/Ox4 and refuses to go? Then what? DPAs are only good if the patient is unable to make decisions for themselves right?" She sure seems okay to me, we can't FORCE her to go." Or can we? Sounds like a job for the bat phone.

I suggest ironing out a schedule with the instructor then posting it all over the place. With a little luck you can get enough people to take it. Personally I'd recommend just going straight to EMT, but CFR is a good place to start if you don't have the time to commit to the full EMT class.

I vaguely remember one of the members of Bedford Fire talking about thier proposed new firehouse. I believe plans back then included a hose tower where hose could be hung up to dry.

The poor guy's legs went THROUGH the firewall? Ouch.

I had heard a while back that they weren't really used anymore for safety reasons. Too many people falling off them or sliding down ontop of another guy/gal. Heresay of course. MMV

Riding on the back step using a buzzer? Whats the matter with just using a portable or good old hand signals while the driver looks where he's going in his mirrors. I know the stufff is big but come now.

The more the better. If CCVAC and a local Fire Department can commit to sending members to the class, then I'm sure Phelps would be willing to offer one. I know in the past they wanted 10 people or mor for other classes. You'd have to ask Jeff however for more information. 366-3679.

Keep in mind that there are two other studies that also show similar results. I agree with you tho. The studies show that CPR and AEDs are more effective at saving people when they are there at the time of collapse. One study showed that paramedics aren't as effective because they take time to get there. I'd have to read the studies myself to make a full assessment of what they are implying.

A similar article was in yesterday's Journal News. I can't find it on the Gannett website (because it sucks for archives). If you can find the article, please post it. And if the ACEP is thinking hard about the subject, it can't be all that far fetched,.

irish: If you get enough people willing to take the class (not just "interested") then let us know. I'm sure with enough demand a class can be aranged up at CCVAC or nearby.
-
Problem is two fold there. 1) Usually people flash us the bird. 2) If you have women driving around flashing other things, you fwill likely find the car accident rate drmatically increasing. #-o

Okay I give up. Where is that? None of the names ring a bell, but then again I'm not big on the old history of the "old south westchester".
-
What about the first known fire department EVER in Westchester? Doesn't need to be around anymore, just wondering who was first.

Since when? According to the scrolling "0% Tax Increase" thing that Linda Puglisi has running on the local access cable channels, Cortlandt has a sizable savings account for use on future projects. Is Cortlandt breaking the law?

Okay. Just found the pictures. The oldest rig MKVAC had was from 1987 - A Type III Ford....I can't make out who made it. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other agency with an older rig that is in service. Of course MKVAC has since taken that one out of service. Their other old one is from 1995.
-
Until it was placed out of service, I'd have to say Mount Kisco. I forget what year thier old rig was, but it was OLD. I'll have to ask the Capt next time I see her. Or better yet, I have pictures, I think I took closeups of the registrations to capture the year. At Abbey Richmond, before the sale to Transcare, we had some ancient ambulances there as well. Tho I'd image they have since long gone to the scrap heap.
