WCC's program has really gone downhill from what I hear in the past few years. The old instructor left and the program is being run by Steve Nardozzi last I heard. The old instructor (Mike Kaufman) was apparently rather unpopular. As such enrollment is dangerously low. I wonder if the program will be around next year. A few people I know are in the Vinny's program in Queens (they have one in midtown - actually looking for a new CIC too) and one in Queens. Latest local suggestions are to go to Dutchess. Rockland seems a good alternative tho I have not heard anything about thier program and Scott left to move to California.

Yup. But it is entertaining at times. I watch it with a grain of salt and remind myself constantly that Denis Leary is a comedian not an actor.

We used to use Pauls in the Bronx but for reasons I won't get into here, we discontinued using them and started using New England Sporting Goods (I think thats the name) on Route 128 in Armonk. They are in the same complex as Armonk Hardware, right across the street from Wachovia/First Union. I'm glad we have someone local. Going down to the ronx all the time for Uniforms was annoying.

One word. PICTURES!

Two options: Get to know BitTorrent then go to tvt.milfclan.com. or Let me know and I'll burn it onto VCD and send it to you. It is perhaps one the of the best episodes EVER. Sure it can be a stretch of the imagination at times, but it makes Rescue ME look like a joke.

Check out the Nikon D70. It may be slightly more expensive than the Rebel, but in the reviews I have seen in the past, it outpaces and outperforms in several areas. I've also been told that Nikon makes better lenses. If I had to go out today and make a quick decision on which to buy, it would probably be the Nikon.

One thing the city did do for them is award both a posthumous promotion which will allow the families a significant boost in thier benefits.

Now thats the kind of muster I remember from years ago. God, I wish they still had one's like that. It owuld be great to see again.

Hmm....I shall have to top this one with a photo hunt in Maui and Oahu when I go next month. ;-> Mwahahahahahah. Anyone have suggestions of where to go for some goot Fire/EMS shots in Hawai'i?

The secret list? Another thread has a related post. Apprently the deceased was the first female firefighter in the Forest Service to die in the line of duty.

Because some of it is funny as hell....

A related webpage in the meantime: http://www.csmc.edu/pf_5513.html I'll ask at work tonight what effects epi can have on the condition. But one can deduce some of the negative effects from the cause/effect of the condition.

The impression that I got from this and other recounts, is that by the time the medics reached the girl, she had long since gone into Asystole (flat line in layman's terms) and that they needed to administer a considerable amount of ACLS in order to get something back that was shockable. I'm sure someone was there taking notes and wondered the same thing: why didn't the medics shock her. Well, if the above was true, they did the right thing. What interest me most is how one Doctor said that Epinepherine can actually WORSEN her condition. If it's as common (tho still uncommon) as they say it is, I'd be interested in learning more. I'll see waht I can dig up.

This show is now just getting stupid. I mean when the focus of the show is the guys measuring thier penises and not the death of a fellow brother, that really makes you wonder. I'm convinced that Denis Leary is trying to be the Howard Stern of TV.

With all the recernt LODD and the passing of Jim, I propose we create a forum called "In Memorium" to post notices about the passing of people in the emergency services, LODD or no. Especially with 9/11 right around the corner, it would be a good place to post reminds of the people who passed. 585 being another example that we are reminded of often in the boards. Anyone have any thoughts or additions?

What you quoted: What he said: A single word can change the whole connotation of a statement.

Not exactly local but related. American Ambulance in Norwich CT (you may have seen them at Foxwoods) restored this classic ambulance: http://www.ameri-group.com/aasi/americanambulance.htm

Actually thats not exactly what he said, but I'll let him defend his own statement. Anyhow. To say that EMS can't work right unless it's fire based is, in the words of Penn and Teller, Bullsh it. There are plenty of sucessful and effective EMS systems in the country and the world that are not fire based. And there are plenty of downright aweful EMS systems that are fire based. Thats not to say that the converse is not true.I look at systems setup by the likes of Arcadian, Pridemark, and municipal systems like New Castle and the counties in the Carolinas. Well done. Not fire based. Do they suffer from not being fire based? I don't think so. And ask anyone who works for FDNY*EMS when life was better, before or after the takeover. The answers are no mystery. Now don't get me wrong here. I have nothing wrong with fire based EMS. There are many excellent fire based EMS services out there. But to be fire based to be excellent is not a prerequisite by any means.

I'm genuinly jealous. Never got to meet him, only know of his legacy from the many people who talk about him, and from the writings and videos he has done. I think Paul says it all:

I don't think there are many EMS or Rescue people out there who DON'T know who James Page was. He was a great influence throughout the history of EMS and Fire/Rescue. He will be greatly missed but his legacy will forever be an influence in the Emergency Services. God Speed Chief! We will all miss you.

ALS: Nah...you just need a sticker that says "Bad a** Motha Fucker".....akin to Pulp Fiction..... 8)

Sorry, I have been told that only the forum moderator can do that. :-<

If you ask me, if a medic was on the call you are taking to the hospital, and s/he deems it to be BLS, there ishould be NO reason that the ambulance needs to go lights and sirens to the hospital. I may accept secondary warnings to advise drivers of an exceptionally slow ride if oyu are transporting someone in back spasm or the like. It drives me nuts when I get to a call, it's BS, I turf it off, and the ambulance races away from the scene with lights and sirens blazing. Thats just stupid.

Very well written letter. I can see why most people failed to retort.

What about making it a sticky so it stays up top?
