As are White Plains (dramatically expanding thier ER and prompt care areas), and Phelps (whole new building with ER and the works). NWHC is expanding with the addition of a new Cancer treatment center and a planned ER expansion a few years down the road.

For pizza nothing beats Napoli's on Route 6 a few doors west of the Mohegan Diner. Deli? Hmm...thats tough since I really don't go to delis up here often (cause I'm home and make my own stuff).

OR vice versa.....i can remember several occasions where the PD was tied up fully and all EMS calls were going to mutual aide for most of the day. The gunman at the dealership on 119 comes to mind. Abbey was going to Greenburgh M/A all day long. That would be my guess.

I called it months ago: so much for the Giants.

Better yet, when are they going to strike a contract with an ambulance company that can actual get an ambulance to them in some reasonable amount of time? Same with the VA. I can understand if there is a dire emergency, but a lot of what they call us for isn't exactly life or death.
-
Yeah, but it might wake people up and make them realize the magnitude of the problems and potential problems we face. Maybe then people won't be so quick to be frugal with funds for thier local Emergency Services.

Care to mention who the new officers are?
-
Kinda leave out all the EMS people doesn't it?
-
I have to wonder if that trend will continue once United closes it's doors.

Amy Nay scares me. There's something about that crooked smile of hers that worries me. I just can't put my finger on it.
-
I think the answer there is pretty obvious.....

A slick setup would be to have several guys running barriers for the scene and then beyond the scene have an officer in a chase car ready to take down anyone blasting through at unreasonable speeds.

Who covers edgemont for PD then, scarsdale or greenburgh?
-
Is Scarsdale a part of Greenburgh or is it it's own entity?
-
But how many on a regular day?
-
Does Greenburgh actually have this many medics on at one time?

This is so true. At work people complain about the dispatchers all the time, be it Cencom or 60 Control. Most have NO idea what happens on the other side of the console. I've worked dispatch enough to know that dispatchers get crapped on all the time. Be it by callers from hospitals complaining that thier ambulance is late even tho it's only 2 minutes after the scheduled time, or people calling 911 multiple times screaming that they called for the FD 5 minutes ago, whats taking so long. Your comments about the CAD system (I'm too lazy to cut and paste em) are very true too. Unfortunatly, it is my understanding that the dispatchers at 60 control have thier hands tied when it comes to over riding the CAD system. Perfect example.....lets say someone at 60 knows Katonah/Bedford well, and knows that Route 35 at Holly Branch Rd is right on the Bedford/Lewisboro line. It's 1 minute (literally) from 45medic3's station. An MVA comes in with injuries. They get a call from BPD for a medic. The CAD tells them it's 45Medic1's district. But they know medic1 is in Kisco. Can they override the CAD and send medic3? NO. Does that make sense? Not really. Should the lines be redrawn by whomever? YES. Should I do what a lot of people might do and get mad at the dispatcher? NO, becasuse I know the underlying cause and thats it's not thier fault. Get to know the system and the people who run it and you just might find yourself working in a well oiled machine as opposed to an old clunker. (Tho I still want to take a large amount of explosives to the tower in North Salem).

Maybe it's because I'm on OptOnline but I don't need a password or anything to see descriptions of the news stories or to look at anything on the site. At least not that I can find.

How about just "Local Responders in the News" ??
-
What will the URL be?

Dude. Typing lessons. Seriously. Anyhoo.... Who the heck is Tenet? Never heard of them. I think if any effort were going to be made to save United, it would have been done already.

10 minutes before the first call for M/A is a little rediculous. They complain that the cell phones are stressing the system, well use the cell phones to help the system. Call in and let dispatch know you are going to the scene/rig. I understand if the department doesn't have the money or infrastructure to have portables (especially with the size of some districts up there), but most people have cell phones. They may say that calling mutual aid within 2-3 minutes of the initial call is quick, but like someone said, try holding your breath for 12 minutes. Hell, in a lot of the county, it's quicker to drive to the hospital than to wait 20 minutes for an ambulance.

Trauma center? Hospitals don't close and then become trauma centers. I can understand an Amb surg center (i think thats what became of the old Yonkers General), but not a trauma center.
-
Unfortunatly, the way ScanCT is setup, you are stuck listening to Fairfield along with 60 Control (46.26). They seem to have way more traffic most of the time.

I am constantly reminded by situations like this of the recent FDNY accident in, I believe, the Bronx, where the fire engire ran the light and T-Boned a car. I don't recall if there were fatalities, but I do remember that it was caught on tape by either an amateur video camera or an intersection cam. The video stunned me as the light was obviously red and the small car clearly had the right of way. I hate to say it, but that case is similar and the drive should face similar charges.
