You take up more space than I do.

So what is inaccurate about the report? The talk about the size of the NYPD choppers being too small for large evac and firefighting uses?
-
So FDNY does have helicopters?
-
Good point. Kinda doesn't make sense. Let me rephrase: Supervisors who question everything people do and yet have not worked a single day in the system, and yet has worked for the system's company for a significant amount of time. or better yet: People who walk around thinking they know everything and yet they obviously don't.
-
Don't know if anyone watches Survivor, but on the first episode there is a guy named Tom who is a FDNY member from Ladder 108 in Brooklyn. Thought some of you guys might be interested. He's shown a strong start and seems to be a good candidate for the final four or even three.

Interesting website about the Sikorsky S70-A Firehawk, a modified Blackhawk. Features pictures of the one used by LA County Fire. (Someone give x635 a towel). http://www.s70a-firehawk.info/frameset.html

Supervisors who question everything you do and yet have not worked a single day in the system, and yet have worked in said system for a significant amount of time and are supposed to be supervising same. :-k

No, I do not.

PITA when it goes off and won't shut up and you don't have the ability to key the nextel to silence it. But yes, good for rapid recall of information....unless the person before you never cleared that previous jobs and you have 20 messages to wade through. ](*,)

I agree. I think he played well. The people who think he lied his way to the top (fruitcake included) should be tarred and feathered.

Engine 206? and Ladder 108 crews were shown on the live finale via Satellite from the station.

Tom Westman of Ladder 108 FDNY is officially the WINNER of Survivor Pulau and wins $1,000,000 in cash and a nice sporty Chevy SSR.
-
Tom IS the son: "In 1985, Westman followed his father's footsteps and joined the New York City Fire Department. He is currently a Lieutenant of Ladder Company 108 in Brooklyn"
-
Well, "Tom" The Lt from Ladder 108 has made the final two. I think he has an easy shot at the million. =D>

The problem too is that despite popular belief, tPA is NOT the "standard of care" for patients in acute CVA, even inside the 3 hour window. Brian Bledsoe did an interesting article in JEMS on that a while back. I think the biggest potential comes from the newer techniques of mechanical thrombectomy devices like the Amplatz system. Even after three hours a patient can make close to 100% recovery. It has recieved a lot of exposure PR-wise, even being featured on a recent episode of ER.

What course is PCVAC teaching? Also I have to agree with als on the Phelps ELSP setup. Jeff Meade would most likely be your instructor if you take the AHA Train the Trainer class there, and he's nothing short of exceptional at what he does (teach). I took my course there with Dan BLum when he was EMS Coordinator there and it cost me about $250 bux. That seem to be the running price now a days. Call 366-ELSP for more information. NOTE: I'm a little biased since I work for a Phelps affiliate, Teach for Phelps, and have done significant training there (refreshers, instructor clases, etc). Not that I think that really matters.

With which provider? Usually you can choose from AHA, ARC, or NSI. I'd personally recommend AHA, but then I'm a little biased.

NWHC being a stroke center is news to me. The fact of the matter is there is no set protocol by REMAC or otherwise stating that we are to transport Stroke patients to a particular hospital. Same with Cardiac patients (although we all know thats coming eventually). It's good to get the word out via CMEs and the like, but if they are going to take this to the next level, then a protocol needs to be drawn up and put into place. Until then, they (patients) go to the closest hospital as per standing state and local protocol unless directed otherwise by medical control.

Do some systems make this a requirement for maintaining, say, Trauma Nurse Coordinator Status and the like. ER (The TV Show) seems to imply that it is in some areas, but we know how real TV is. I'd love to see ER nurses required to work the field from time to time, but we know that will never happen because nobody will pay them to do the time. Nurses like Robyn from NWHC, or Dee and Kenny from HVHC are hard to come by (been there, done that, know what it's like in the field, and have at least SOME patience).

Not bad. I'd be impressed tho if you are handy enough with photoshop/GIMP to get the sign and trash can out of the picture. (Don't you hate when a perfect shot gets ruined by random items in bad spots?)

I think it would be fitting if Yokas ended up as a detective on Law and Order. Also, maybe someone more familair with ordinance can verify for me, but I believe the "grenade" that was thrown through the window IFO Yokas was a smoke granade. #-o

Last episode sucked. Best parts were the stick through the window and Cruz blowing herself up to take out the drug gang. Otherwise I was hoping for more of an assault on the 55, more people coming back for whatever. The "this is what they are doing now" bit with Sully at the end was a nice cherry on top to end it, but otherwise it left me bored. I'll have to go back and watch the first episode of the season a few times for some excitement.

Put Lake? Ugh. I'd just as soon move to Lake Peekskill. Stuff is just too crammed together. I could never find scenes in Put Lake when I worked putnam. I just met the BLS crew at the fire house.

Ah, that makes sense. So I've seen good marks for the Brewster schools. How about Carmel? Any comments?

Wow JEff. You should sell that picture to card companies. Looks professional. Oh, and the kid looks good too. =D> =D>
