  1. Ah yes....fox hunt 21st century style.... I've just returned and my anus hurts from the probing. Seriosuly tho. x635 boasts 4 days sans-internet. I just did 6 on the Jersey shore and only briefly stared blankly at an internet cafe before proceeding down the boardwalk in Wildwood in search of Funnel Cake and "za" that doesn't suck (Don't go to Hot Spot).
  2. In germany that can mean only one thing: A BEER PUMPER!
  3. I'm trying to remember the name of the town but I believe that Ossining has a "sister" town in Deutchland. Maybe they sent the enging over there as a gift?
  4. I want one! Trunk Monkey beats down drunk for being in public and having someone call 911 for his a**. Trunk Monkey take 3am BLS run from Lawrence so Medic can sleep in. Trunk Monkey beats random supervisor in head just for kicks.
  5. Liberty Paintball used to located in Liberty, NY up in Sullivan county. I actually played once at the old location. I was thrilled when they moved a little closer to home. Let me know if you go play in the fall, I'd go. Too damn hot to play now.
  6. Now if only WEMS didn't have the Ghetto version that only did location/nature and enable you to call signals and emergencies. I'd LOVE to be albe to see system status and history on the MDTs. At least the system we have is upgradable. :-k
  7. Also note, by the time you FEEL thirsty, you are already far down the road to dehydration. And ditto on the Water Intox part. I think it actually requires something like 5 gallons+ in less than an hours time.
  8. Yes, but we could be fellow 36'ers too.....:->....maybe....
  9. Yup. I think what he admitted to is just as serious as calling in a false alarm from scratch. I'm not going to say throw him in jail for life, but if he didn't want to give black eye to the department, he should never have picked up that phone.
  10. Sorry but I'm not inclined to agree with you.
  11. It's always difficult to relay sentiments when at a loss for words. Situations such as this do just that to myself and I am sure many others. I can't speak for all but I hope that everyone on this board is behind you and your family 100%. I know I am.
  12. At least he realizes the qualities associated with such an action. Personally, I think he's FOS when saying he didn't realize Briarcliff was on a call.
  13. I don't understand why so many volunteer firefighters try to be like the career guys both in conduct and professionalism, etc etc but then want a distinction made when something bad happens. Equality unless you get in trouble? Still sounds like a dual standard to me.
  14. WE all have our slip ups. Who knows other than him if he was doing it for whatever reason. To say they should throw him in jail for life is just stupid. (Another seperate posT)
  15. Spanish cahnnels that don't have english simulcasting on SAP even tho half the english channels have a spanish SAP simulcast. ](*,)
  16. Bonus points to anyone who can tell me why they are call "Liberty Paintball". 8)
  17. I don't think it's so much dumb as careless. We don't know details so it could have just been a freak accident. Somehow I doubt they just took out the paddles and said, "hey come here, I want to shock you". If they did, then yes, I would call it dumb.
  18. I know a few people at the bottling group but they are in accounting. Don't think they have much pull there. We'd have better luck with someone in corporate in Purchase. And depending on how big this thing gets, you might be able to get some celebs to join us for the meet with the kids. Considering Dave Cone's involvement with the baseball exibit, we might be able to get some sports people involved. But do we want to get that big or KISS?
  19. Okay. Here's a scenario for everyone. Main goal is to gather input and get people to think. Please just provide an explaination for what you would do in this situation, you may be as brief or verbose as you wish. We'll open the scenario for debate later on so save the critiques of other's answers for then or they will be deleted. Answer as appropriate for your level of certification. Appropriate questions may be asked as necessary. You are operating as an emergency medical provider in the state of NEW YORK. You respond to a call for an 80 year old female patient who is short of breath. Upon arrival you are shown to the patient by the family who tells you that she has a history of liver cancer with metastases and has a standing DNR order on NYS Form DOH-3474 which is presented to you by the family. You find the patient laying in bed in obvious shortness of breath with congestion audible from across the room. Patients eyes are open but she appears lethargic and just stares blankly. Respirations are labored at a rate of about 40 with heavy accessory muscle usage (intracostal and supersternal retractions). Pulse is rapid, irregular, and thready at a rate of approximately 150 BPM. Skin is Warm and Clammy.
  20. You are correct. And it applies to any prehospital provider: A living will or health care proxy is NOT valid in the prehospital setting.
  21. Anyone know if there is an EMS Mascot? Somehow I don't think a DWI Chicken would do it. ](*,)
  22. Does Mohegan have a "mascot" suit of the fire prevention dog? I seem to recall someone around here with one, figured with all the FP stuff they have that would be one of them. IF not, does someone know where we can mascot suits for things like "McGruff the Crime Dog", "Smokey the Bear" (do they even use him anymore - I know it's more a forest fire thing), or "Sparky the Fire Dog" (http://www.nfpa.org/sparky/).
  23. If I can be of any help, let me know. Unfortunatly I don't have too many contacts at WMC, but I see no reason why they wouldn't want something like this to happen.
  24. There's always next year!
  25. Here is the only problem i could forsee but could be mitigated by a little creativity: Obviously a parade with lots of apparatus would be outdoors. Unfortunaly not every kid would be able to get outside to see the parade. Imagine the poor kid who is hooked up to whatever sorts of stuff that is keeping them alive and stuck behind a miserable window on the 3rd or 4th floor wishing he were with the rest of the kids having fun. It sucks. Don't leave them out. First thing that pops into my head are the fire clowns. You know in the Katnoah parade the guys with the little car driving around making balloons and spraying silly string. I'd bet that car would fit in an elevator and could easily run around the floors to the bedridden kids. I'm sure there are other ways, but thats the first one that comes to mind.
