Going to Charlotte, SC next week. Too bad they don't start thier nonstop service until July 12th.
-
Also available at CVS I believe. The key being they are available WITHOUT a prescription.

Seth: Do you have a source URL? I'd love to post this on another forum I'm on.
-
It's not so much the program as what you download with it. Tho there could well be some known issues with Limewire, Kazaa, WinMX, et al that open you to vulnerabilities, more likely than not you downloaded (and ran) something that you shouldn't have. Just takes a little knowledge and "net smarts" to know what to look out for.

If you download music and it involved running an executable (.exe) file to get to the music, delete it immediately. I suggest running a virus scanner immediately. If you don't have one go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and run the free online scan. AOL's stuff is okay but a HUGE strain on your computer as it uses a TON of unnecessary resources. AOL Should have a virus scanner available for use as well.

My Wife got a summons to jury duty recently as well. You can also be exempted for hardship - ie....student, caregiver to child under certain age, etc....I haven't read it but will give further when I do....

Ok. Definatly do what Izzy (and others) said. What firewall program are you using? What program(s) is(are) the firewall blocking? (It should tell you) Where do you get your MP3s? (Don't worry, we won't report you) Answer the above so we can get a better idea of the source. I have my suspicions but need to know the above first. PS....If you need to, IM me if you have an AIM address. I'll be here all day and can assist you better live.

The simple fact is we're not really the bastard step children. We're just that, we're the children of the Emergency Services. How long has EMS been around and commonplace? 30 years? 40 maybe? (Please don't tell me about the Horsedrawn ambulances at Vinny's and the whole Civil War thing - I know). We celebrate Fire Departments that have been around for 100 - 150 years. Police Departs probably around the same time. We haven't existed long enough to garner the respect that the FD and PD services have. IF the respect and pay and benefits given the FDs and PDs are due to unions like the IAFF and the PBA THEN the problem would seem to be that EMS just doesn't have a universal union that represents thier needs. (And don't tell me about the IAEP as they are hardly universal and effective). I can't say I agree with seperation of the EMS and Transportation sides of things. For many reasons but it would bring us WAY off topic. It remains a mystery why the governments (local and otherwise) will spend millions on Fire and Police service yet balk at spending half a million on a paramedic truck. Or 1 million on a full service ALS ambulance. It just boggles my mind. Weren't FDNY EMS workers granted Uniformed status last year?

Tis okay. I agree the position is all wrong, but for the number of times we use it it's probably not a BAD thing - hopefully you won't be transporting two critical patients in the same rig anyways - but you never know. My partner today pointed out that people like to jump on the negatives of things like this concept vehicle and I realized I never really pointed out the pluses. Suction and sharps within reach is nice. I hope/assume it has easily accessable control switches for lights and etc. The recessed handrail is nice (prevents whacking head on it). The light package I'm sure is absolutely siezure inducing but the visibility options are a nice plus. I'd love to see the price tag.

Now if only they had power jacks for your laptop I'd consider flying them more often. Unless they recently added them to thier planes and I was unaware.
-
You CAN transport a second boarded patient. I agree with the whole "driver has too much to keep track of already" bit. I'm definatly not a fan of the positioning of the TV screen for the cameras. No way would I look at the console in the process of changing lanes.

I agree. And I wish they did use a priority dispatch system, but they do not.
-
Why is that unfortunate? If BLS doesn't need us, they can cancel us. (And I wish they would do so more often BEFORE we got there instead of waiting until I get on scene making me have to write a full PCR on a patient for a cancelled call but thats just a minor nitpik). Until 60 Control decides to use a priority dispatch system, everything they dispatch (short of lift assists) will be dispatched on an ALS level. Have you seen the numbers they post outside of the dispatch center? Somewhere upwards of 96% (haven't seen them lately) of the calls dispatched by 60 control are dispatched as ALS. The other small percentage might be instances where ALS is/was not available.

Yes PHOTOS! 18 hours labor WITH induction? Wow. I hope she had pain management. If not, she deserves a purple heart.
-
Like I said to JBE: SUCKER! j/k....best of luck to you. When do we get to see pictures of the misses?
-
Care to elaborate? It's a design no? Don't THEY determine how it's mounted? The MAJOR thing that I don't like is the transverse position for the second backboarded patient. It eliminates the ability to sit at the head of the first patient where 90% of what needs to be done in a critical situation can be done. The second is af course cost. All the extra features like the multiple suction units will greatly increase (if not double) the cost of the vehicle. I'd love to see the lighting package in operation. I'm also surprise, with it being an AMR concept, that they didn't obviously integrate the "big brother" system into it.

Wow. I'm rather shocked. I knew Mike from when we worked together at Heritage Hills, then he worked a brief stint as the EMT for A-1 at PCVAC before they went under and it became an Empire gig, and then I heard he got on with the Watershed PD. My condolences to his family.

I thought Newark ran double medic. My understanding was that MONOC was the only Jersey agency that ran single medic (how they got exempt is beyond me).
-
Wow. They gave those guys guns! j/k Good luck to our fellow medics turned Gun Toters!
-
Jersey might be a little better off too if they didn't have to run all dual medic.
-
In the box? It used to make a good stool for sitting in the doorway between compartments when stuck in the back of the ambulance as a "gopher" way back when (before I knew better than to sit there with no seatbelt on).

What? Nobody posted pictures yet?

Were we supposed to take the "elephants" from the line up site?
