Congrats. Any plans on using it?

There have been multiple problems with sites on the east coast for the past couple of days. Some sites have been taking an extraordinary time to load. Many blame the heat. What browser are you using? I've been hearing multiple reports that the latest drop of Firefox has been causing some problems. (Latest is 1.5.0.5). Do you have the same issue in Internet Explorer?

Could be any number of reasons from software updates on the server(s) to updates to the site itself. I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Gratz on your new certification. Use it well. Any question? You know where to ask.

All EMT classes that are taking the test in August are expected to know the new guidelines. Any EMT refresher is REQUIRED to take a CPR refresher so they will be taught the new guidelines then.

My favorite (and I'm sure one of 636's as well) is when apparatus calls "in service" for a call. The typical response is "10-4. Are you responding as well?"

Who was the training center/IC that did your class? We just finished teaching all the Probies at FTC and had quite a few MV guys in the class....but that was CFR.

I've always been a fan of the blue one. Even if people do mistake us for state troopers with it on.

I had a call recently where a car hit a tree. The passenger who was injured was the boyfriend of the driver. The car had supposedly lurched forward from a stop and the driver jumped free of the car. The driver had some minor scrapes and wanted to go to the hospital as a precaution to be checked out. The passenger was more severe with facial/head trauma. The girlfriend was placed in the back of the ambulance with the boyfriend and was a basketcase the whole time. This was a tougher decision as the girlfriend was considered a patient and not just a family member. In retrospect, I'd probably have called a second rig for her. In a similar scenario: How many times have we transported two injured drivers from an MVA in the same ambulance, and in the course of questioning they start arguing about who's fault it is, all whilst backboarded. Just imagine two people laying secured, next to each other, trying to swat blind at the other in argument. That image always makes me laugh. Each case we deal with has to be dealt with individually. Not every case fits the perfect scenario. We've all had jobs that make us think "holy crap, now what do I do???" (If you haven't had one yet, give it time, you're still new). It comes down to good judgement and experience to guide you. Be safe.

I've dealt with psych patients where the PD directed that the patient be taken directly to the WMC Psych ER. Would you take them there or to the closest medical facility? (Interested to see what people think).

They sure do! The mural on the side is making me hungry.

Why does this remind me of the ending of a GI Joe Cartoon? :D

or along the same line perhaps "inquarters.com" ?

So here I am watching Rescue Me (This Season's 6th Episode - Titled "Zombies"). Tommy briefs the crew about how is cousin used to have a studio in the warehouse to which they were responding for a structure fire. The guys get out of the rig and open a cabinet to grab thier stuff. As they are walking away from Ladder 62 you can see one of he passenger side cabinets open and the foot end of a Stryker stretcher visible in the cabinet. I didn't know ladders carried patient stretchers. Interesting.

The Paid Bus will always respond for calls that require a medic response since hte paid bus will have the medic as part of the crew.

Just tossing out ideas: What about something with a checkmark. Maybe steal the verisign logo.

EMS should be treated as a vital service to any and all communities in the county. If the volunteer agencies are unable to fulfill the need, then someone else has to fill the gaps. That is what this plan is doing. If the volunteers use this as an excuse to not get out of bed/work/whatever during the day, then so be it. Waiting around 20, 30, 40 minutes for an ambulance can't be tolerated. Period.

20 here as well. Yay to be on the fence.

Mind if I ask what the other charges brought were?

No. No. and NO. I absolutely will NOT allow a patient of mine to be held in a parents arms on a stretcher. My rule is, if they are supposed to be in a car seat in a parent's car, then they are in a car seat in the ambulance. I CRINGE everytime someone tries to say to a parent "you can sit on the stretch and hold your kid". DON'T DO IT.
