Well of course the damn thing would be private and closed off from the rest of the world - if nothing but for security and all that. But hell I'm with you: if it's whatever o'clock and I'm taking a snooze, you best be dying if you're knocking on the door. Directions? Take a right and drive till you hit water.

Good. Maybe he can tell all the conspiracy theorists who say it was a missile to stuff it.

I smell a protest coming on in front of someone's office.

I was thinking about taking the April class but didn't have the spare funds handy. Definitely can't take the July class as I'll be away. Hopefully they will hold a class later in the year.

So true. Look at Portchester/Rye.....they are still named as a VAC (tho I don't recall how they label their rigs). How many vollies do they really have over there anymore? Everyone I know from there is paid. Same with OVAC. They only have about 5 or 6 volly paramedics anymore. All the rest are paid. No idea about EMTs, but even a lot of them are paid now too.

Here's a concept. Why not build a fire station INTO one of these giant new developments that they are dropping all over White Plains. It would be make a huge PR bit for the building (although admittedly a possible negative one as well due to noise but that can be abated) and would fill one of those "community initiatives" that the municipalities like to throw in to large developments like that.

I think Chris was checking out the hotties in the convertibles cruising down the Sprain.

I'm sure that the closure of both Agnes and United had a large factor in the increased census seen by the ER in the past 2 years, but to be honest, it was getting crowded in there even before the two closed. I'm sure they would have been getting an expansion eventually, but the closures of the other hospitals/increased patient flow definatly helped to expedite that initiative.

I'm gonna go do some thread necromancy.

This thread has got me wondering: what affect does cuff size have on the results that we obtain from a B/P and what effect does taking a B/P through clothing have on the reading? I'd be interested in finding out. I believe cuffs aren't just supposed to wrap around an arm adequately to provide even pressure, but must also cover a certain surface area of the arm - was it 1/3 - 1/2? Most Thigh cuffs I have seen are huge, and most services don't carry them, leaving us to resort to an ankle if we need to go lower extremety. It's not uncommon for me to take B/Ps with a small cuff on a wrist during winter to avoid having to relieve a patient of thier warm coat in the freezing cold.

1. go to www.google.com 2. click on "maps" 3. click on "get directions" 4. type "New York" in the first box (the "from" box) 5. type "London" in the second box (the "to" box) 6. scroll down to step #23

What if you have a case that requires a different level trauma center? (Burns, Peds, Neuro) Do you take them Danbury anyway and let them sort it out?

My source indicates this as being correct, retired from IBM and now working FT for DES.

Please stop calling it HIPPA. It's HIPAA. And guess what, "Privacy" is not part of the abbreviation. (hint, hint)

Those things were battering rams. I got cut off one day by a guy pulling an illegal U-Turn across route 6 I/F/O the Cortlandt Town Center and pushed his car clear across the street, blowing out every window in his little Honda. I'm amazed I didn't kill him. The airbags in the 'Burban....never even flinched.

It dawned on me that it was 10 years at CRP only after John D. asked me what I would want for a 10 year anniversary gift. I still remember when we started back in 1997, I believe it was in March or April sometime, the exact date slips my mind. The new paramedics from the Butterfield class went out on the road with a Rockland Paramedic preceptor/orientator who rode with them for something like 3 months or so to ensure that they weren't a slayer. RPS covered what shifts couldn't be covered by volunteers, and slowly as more people graduated the RPS contract was ended. A few changes here and there. Some new vehicles, new equipment (including the infamous "parachute" bag that everyone hates, myself included), new faces (some old). Rumors of the future. Etc Etc. Wonder where we'll be in another 10 years. Hmmm.

Best on both counts would be to call the county parks department and ask. I'm sure they probably have some kind of map available if the park has ben around a while. IMHO for GeoCaches: What they don't know won't hurt them. As long as it's not something thats going to cause a problem (leaking fluids/batteries/etc, suspicious containers, etc). They have been around for a few years (longer if you count Letterboxing) and I have not heard of any authorities having issues with the activity unless it creates a hazard of some sort. EDIT: Moral: Don't use an ammo can as a geocaching box.

My one job doesn't seem to give a horse's pattotie (we miss you Farley!) about employee health. I was sent by them for an employee physical at the beginning of employment but never sent back for any repeat TB testing or physical since. My other job is a polar opposite. We get the works. If you want to get tested to Small Pox, hell, they'll do it. It's just bizarre. For TB we not only are supposed to get a TB skin test but also a chest X-Ray. Go figure.
